columbus trip report
well, the wife and i made to columbus and back. unfortunately, i caught a cold after the game and have been sick since then.
my wife is an ohio st alumnus, but this was my first game there. trip highlights:
-overall, the game experience was great. stadium record 103,000+ fans. plus at least 100K more outside. that's a lot of people in one place!
-we only got to tailgate for a couple of hours. the wife was shopping with mom so i was stuck til they were done. i guess the parking lots open at 6am, so some friends went early to set up, but we didn't get there until about 5:30pm. i did manage to slam five 16oz beers in 2 hours to get the juices flowing. great tailgate atmosphere, everyone having fun, lots of positive energy. the few usc fans i saw were respectful and treated well by the osu fans.
-even getting in the stadium was ridiculous with that many people. 30 minutes before the game you could hardly move outside. the horseshoe is farkin' enormous. our seats were about 8 rows from the top and it is steep- i felt like a sherpa hiking up there.
-the band was amazing. the script o-h-i-o was really cool. the tuba who dotted the i was named frank costanza- seriously!
-the game itself wasn't the most exciting. lots of good defense. i really thought the bucks had a chance, but their offense was so lame, then the defense couldn't hang on. i don't think most osu fans really thought they would win, but it was kinda bizarre to hear people bitching about tresselvest after the game (how many more losses before we shit-can tressel?). different expectations i guess.
-getting out of there was a clusterf***. it took us 2 hours to get back to the car. long day

Ohio State fans are very classy
Looks like a fun trip. You shoulda painted yourself black and gold and started a MIZ ZOU chant.

Greatness.
Rec’d.
As an aside, for those who didn’t see it, Chris from Smart Football absolutely REAMED Tressel for his role in OSU’s loss. I’ve never read anything with Chris this worked up. It’s great reading.
It was pretty epic, yeah.
Chris does strike you as the type who is quite tolerant overall, but once he gets enough evidence to give up on you, you are dead to him. I like it.

he didn't hold back
can’t really argue with any of it though. pryor seems like a guy who would be more successful moving around making plays instead of trying to not make mistakes.
that reminds me
there was guy sitting near us that kept saying, ‘come on t-p, let’s go!’ or ‘do something t-p!’ as a lifelong fan of potty humor, i of course snickered every time he mentioned t-p. i had to add my own encouragement:
‘wipe ’em out t-p!’
‘the o-line has to keep t-p from getting flushed out of the pocket’
’don’t let ‘em hang around t-p’
that is great, thanks for the update of how it went
wow, that smart football article was awesome!!! Thanks for the link to that RPT. I even went and read more of what Chris linked to in the references of that article. Very Smart Football indeed. Me likey game theory.
