Missouri Men's Basketball All-Time vs. Nebraska UPDATED!
[Ed.: Promoted from FanPosts]
With a whole week off before our next game (against the woe-be-gone Cornhuskers) we get to stew over the loss to OU in Norman. While Mizzou COULD and SHOULD have won, they didn't. Now we all get to ask...What is this Mizzou team going to be? A top 3/4 Big 12 team or a middle of the pack Big 12 team? Time will tell...
But, we had the same feelings about the team at this same time last year (and look where THAT ended up.) While I hope for similar results, I am still ambiguous on whether I should feel that way.
Ok, enough pontificating...the MU-NU series is about as close as the MU-OU series, but in Mizzou's favor. The series started in 1908. Mizzou has DOMINATED in Columbia (now to the tune of 69-25) and has held their own in Lincoln (trailing only 41-55). Mizzou has had several 4-6 game win streaks in the series, Nebraska has not been able to do like wise (I only counted one NU win streak longer than 5 games.) So Mizzou should be able to defend the Basketball Zou, but NU is also a handful no matter how good we are and how bad they are (see the 1994 game in Columbia to finish our undefeated run in the Big 8...then a week later we lost to them in Big 8 Tournament opener...)
The series history after the jump...

My favorite game of the series:

The “Monte! Grab your shoulder!” game.

Thrust nunchuk upward!
I was on the floor as an usher for the 1994 game...
I got a piece of the net (which I can NOT find, BLAST!)
And thanks for promoting this to the front page!

Was it sundvold...
that compared Tiller to Cookie Belcher’s defense in a broadcast earlier this year?
It angered me for a second, then made me smile. That was such a fun team to dislike, with Lue going there out of KC…and of course Danny Nee.
Say what you will about Quin
And believe me, I’ve said plenty. But dude owned Nebraska. I believe it comes out to 13-4, right? It’s pretty crazy that CMA (who I love) already has more losses to the Huskers than Quin did.

Jeez...
…got some pretty decent football scores there prior to the Roarin’ Twenties.
2-9-1918 W 16-8 (really? 24 pts. total?) Columbia, MO
Man, basketball sure has changed. That’s a defense Doc would surely be impressed by.
No shot clock
and three point line will do that to a game.

I must say...
that I created to Word document that I am working off of for my personal use (and due to the fact that the Media Guide no longer lists ALL the opponents we played).
My next mission will be the Baseball team (and from what I can gather THAT will be a huge undertaking on finding the dates and locations.)

Good luck on Saturday...
We need some of our own. Gotta get a conference win sometime to stop the bleeding! Having a week off will help our guys, but I don’t know if it’ll be enough…

In the deed the glory"
GO BIG RED!
And I bet coming in to Mizzou Arena makes your team even more excited
Great moments are born from great opportunity.
Terribly excited I bet...
Although the only conference games I see us winning the rest of the way come on the road….so go figure. ( ISU and Colorado )
We might be able to get Baylor at home, but who the hell knows in this conference.

actually..looking at the post above
we’ve played much better in Columbia since 2000. 8-2? That’s surprising!!!
