The Missouri Tigers All-Season Team: Jared Perry
As we put a wrap on the roller coaster ride of a rebuilding season in 2009, I've decided to ask for the community's help in fashioning the 2009 Mizzou All-Season Team. Just like I did in 2007 before the Cotton Bowl, putting together the All-Season Team will help recognize the top performances of the season at each position this past year.
Today, we look for Jared Perry's best performance. Nominees after the jump.
NOMINEES (in chronological order):
- Jared Perry vs. Illinois: At a time when we weren't sure if Mizzou had a No. 1 receiver on the roster (a question Danario Alexander would obviously answer), Perry helped put away Missouri's win over Illinois by taking a screen pass 46 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
THE LINE: 4 rec., 93 yards, 23.25 avg., 1 TD
- Jared Perry vs. Furman: Perry put up the first multi-touchdown game of his career against the Paladins, including hauling in a 40-yard touchdown pass from Danario Alexander in the first quarter. Perry also had a 48-yard TD reception en route to the first 100-plus receiving yard game of his career. All of Perry's 161 yards came in the first half.
THE LINE: 7 rec., 161 yards, 23.0 avg., 2 TD
- Jared Perry vs. Baylor: Believe it or not, Missouri had a receiver other than Danario Alexander on the field that day. Perry's drops in this game were incredibly damning to Mizzou's chances, but at day's end, Perry's numbers were still impressive. Perry caught four passes of more than 20 yards (38, 26, 23, 21) and had only one catch of less than 10 yards.
THE LINE: 7 rec., 135 yards, 20.7 avg.

The drops against Baylor...
…were just too damning. It’s the major reason I don’t feel we’ll miss Perry next year. Only 50% of the balls thrown to him resulted in completions this year, and while he was a bit unlucky in terms of Gabbert just barely overthrowing him quite a bit, the drops just killed us at times (case in point: Baylor, Navy).

Thrust nunchuk upward!
everyone forhets that stat-wise our offense played really well against baylor
it was the D and effing nick florence that killed us.
Great Oden's Raven I love Mike "The Predator" Dixon!
Simmons hurt + Gettis hurt + suck + Perry drops = loss to Baylor.

If it ends up in a tie
Do Illinois and Furman have to play a bowl game to figure out which Jared Perry gets the nod?
A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat.

Once the Harris poll votes are counted, that is.
