The hype and atmosphere for that game didn't compare though.

The hype for the ’07 and maybe even the ’09 Nebraska game seemed much bigger, at least among the students.

agree with this

in the past, I would love to see texas get destroyed in memorial stadium by Nebraska, but the way the whole expansion thing played out…no way.

Texas tried to improve their standing, but was at least some what respectful and open about their intentions and desires. Nebraska tried to improve its standing, then after doing so immediately tried to play it off as if it was a huge burden to them, pointing to others actions as their motivations.

by StopSpe on Oct 16, 2010 3:58 PM CDT reply actions

I assume because picks and fumbles are both pretty bad mistakes by players on the fireld, while a turnover on downs is just a regular play that is a calculated gamble.

Because this game is hilarious.

Hey Bill C

Last Monday your after game thoughts for Nebraska basically stated that if you want to beat Neb… You have to stop Martinez first. And when you do, you have to score on every possession and then you have to dominate in special teams. WHEN YOU DO THIS… you then have to stop on passing downs and nobody can do this either… It is possible but not probable….

I had my ass handed to me for questioning your analysis…..
-—————
What do you think now? Now that Mizzou is #2 in the nation in scoring defense behind only TCU… Texas has upset Nebraska… Our defense did not allow a score for 6 consecutive quarters which we have not done since 1967,,,, etc… etc…. etc… All I said was I wanted to see more football…

Our defensive shut out for 6 quarters was impressive, although to be completely fair we were helped considerably by boulder and aTm taking timely penalties and dropping catchable balls, etc. We were good, sure, but don’t overblow who we are.

Now if we shut down OU and the nubs… talk to me then :)

Good teams make their own luck

A lot of those dropped passes were due either to direct pressure on the qb or by the defense getting in Johnson’s head. We also put both teams in positions where they were forced to go for points on 4th down. I understand why people want to tamp down on expectations a bit, but don’t make the opposite mistake of assuming that we just got lucky.

Looking at those pictures above, this is exactly what I predicted

Total dejection. They invested so much of their season in this one game that when they failed, it completely deflated Husker Nation. The next two weeks are going to be very interesting.

oh well

We still need to take care of business

Hopefully they’ll still be deflated and this will make it easier for us. That’s all I’m saying :)

In case it hasn't been pointed out yet...

I would like to remind everyone that our Roundtable this week was absolutely off the fucking hook. And look what happened.

So…we know what must be done.

They get stomped...

…and all of a sudden they’re struggling.

Meh

We’re actually starting to get noticed now. We have the meat of the schedule coming up now and the nation wants to see how we handle it. Respect comes of its own accord.
