Week 13 BlogPoll Ballot

STANDARD DISCLAIMER: Ignore the deltas. This ballot was filled from scratch with zero regard for last week's ballot. Thus, the "you dropped X team Y spots for beating team Z [score] to [score]???" argument does not stand. However, I'm definitely in need of feedback for ways to improve the ballot. Make a compelling argument and I'm more than willing to adjust the rankings.

And don't try to make sense of the NU/MU/aTm/OU quartet.

I know that I'm a Buckeye homer...

but I don’t understand why Michigan State is ranked ahead of Ohio State. Sure, MSU jumped all over Wisconsin who turned around and jumped all over Ohio State. I get that. However, the Buckeyes are a much more complete outfit coming down the stretch, beating Iowa (a team that dominated Sparty) in Iowa City. That and Ohio State is the only team among the top-three teams to get their win on the road. Michigan State, on the other hand, has had close call after close call. Ohio State, aside from their trip-up in Madison, have dominated their opponents, winning by 28 points a game.

Either way, tOSU will be in the BCS and MSU will enjoy Orlando this bowl season.

Because we couldn't go for three.

Making Sense

How did you make sense of MU/A&M/OU/NEB…why the order?

by mpfische on Nov 23, 2010 3:09 PM CST reply actions

Here's how I would do it

MU beat aTm who beat Neb who beat MU.

MU’s win was on the road and dominant, so I’d put them above aTm. Neb was a dominant win at home, so I’d put them over MU. aTm’s win wasn’t dominant and was at home.

So Neb > MU > aTm

OU is 4th because they’ve lost to both MU and aTm. One could drop aTm below OU as they have an extra loss, but they’ve won 5 in a row so it doesn’t bother me they are above OU.

Yes, I wrote that:
