M-I-Z!
I don't care if its "business as usual" Mizzou is getting screwed again...
Ya, win and your in is cool and all but if we go to crappy bowls every year how can we recruit the best talent? we beat ou and if nubs loose then we are even keel and all… bowl selection sucks!!!!!!!!!!

On Mandel's bowl prediction list...
The glutton for punishment inside me eagerly anticipates the December 27th “What the hell does a forward pass look like, again” Independence Bowl between Air Force and Georgia Tech. As well as the Improper Recruitment & Agents with Too Much Access Music City Bowl, on the 30th, between UNC and Tennessee.
re: Mizzou bowl selection process…
At this point I just want a good matchup. I don’t care where, or when, or what our supposed pecking orders look like. Just give me a team with some national recognition that we can go out and throttle.
Bet me!
Ya, at this point though we would be playing friggin 6-6 washington verses 10-2 Mizzou who took down number one and played the 7th hardest schedule in the Friggin country-

that's on USC
the Trojans would be in that slot if they weren’t on probation.

Georgetown Tickets
I have two tickets in the lower bowl for tonight’s game that I cannot use due to a family emergency. If anyone is interested in them please let me know.
Dan McLaughlin and Doug Gottlieb
have the call for tonight’s game on TV. Not since I combined ice cream and sardines have I heard of such a delicious combination. I’m prepared for a chemistry fest.
I hate to fault Alden
but scheduling this game for the first day of the Big 10/ACC Challenge (brought to you by Dapper Dan Pomade) was a damn foolish idea. The only benefit is that Gottlieb will talk about this game on his show tomorrow as much as any other game, just because he was there.

only day they could get
they tried like HELL to get the game on Sunday (day after the football game) but G-Town couldn’t do it. I tell you, they came very close several times to this thing falling apart. I give them credit for getting it done regardless of the date and time (and color dude).

This game is a geographical oddity.
Two weeks from everyone.
Rec for the O Brother, where art thou reference.

How did we do?
I took a look at the final regular season Wisdom of the Crowds and this is how it looks. First, the North.
Predicted (conference record, record, point difference)
Missouri 7-1 11-1 +177
Nubs 6-2 9-3 +129
K-State 4-4 7-5 +20
Iowa State 2-6 4-8 -79
Colorado 1-7 3-9 -95
Kansas 0-8 2-10 -91
Actual (conference record, record, point difference)
Nubs 6-2 10-2 +204
Missouri 6-2 10-2 +182
K-State 3-5 7-5 +61
Iowa State 3-5 5-7 -79
Colorado 2-6 5-7 -79
Kansas 1-7 3-9 -208
For the North, we were about as perfect as we could get. The order at the top was flipped because of the tie breaker, but none of our record picks was off by more than one game. The assumption at the time was that we were biased for Mizzou and biased against Kansas. In truth, we picked the point differential for Mizzou within 5 points and were off by one on the record because no one thought we could beat Oklahoma (I told you to have faith). If it’s possible, we actually underestimated how bad Kansas was.
Now for the South:
Predicted (conference record, record, point difference)
Oklahoma 8-0 12-0 +194
Texas 7-1 11-1 +226
Texas A&M 4-4 7-5 +69
Texas Tech 4-4 8-4 +67
Baylor 3-5 6-6 -8
Oklahoma State 2-6 6-6 +44
Actual (conference record, record, point difference)
Oklahoma 6-2 10-2 +185
Oklahoma State 6-2 10-2 +206
Texas A&M 6-2 9-3 +138
Baylor 4-4 7-5 +33
Texas Tech 3-5 7-5 +21
Texas 2-6 5-7 +1
In short, we had no clue what we were talking about. No one expected Texas to fall off the cliff the way that they did and no one expected Oklahoma State to overachieve in the way that they did. Well, one person expected Oklahoma State to do well (innocent whistle). Oklahoma still came out on top but they weren’t the unstoppable juggernaut most people thought. A&M overachieved by a fair amount, but most of that came in the second half of the season. Baylor’s mid-season push didn’t translate in to much in the rankings.
So there you go. Missouri is awesome, Kansas sucks, Oklahoma is not unbeatable, Oklahoma State is good, and Texas won’t be bowling.

The crappiest part is...
people are not dinging Nebraska as much for their Texas loss as they should, because “It’s Texas”
Their best loss is equivalent to ours,
Their worst loss is worse than ours (last place at home v. fifth place on the road)
If Nebraska had beaten Texas, but lost at home to Colorado (even at the same point in the season) they would be ranked a few spots lower right now.
"I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order. Like they should be."
With the exception of OSU becoming a slightly better version of 2007 Kansas
it seems like Texas was responsible for nearly the entirety of our misses.

Texas always has to make it about themselves
I wouldn’t be surprised if Texas lost all of those games on purpose just to embarrass Nebraska.

Fixed.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Nebraska fans truly believe Texas lost all of those games on purpose just to embarrass Nebraska.

That's what I was getting at

Gottlieb, great
wonder how (or how many?) OSU references he works in.
I think he is absurdly homerific.
OSU fans would virulently disagree with that assessment...
…he burned a lot of bridges with the way he talked about the Suttons in the last few years.

If Berry Tramel tried very, very hard he might possibly become a bigger hack than he already is.
That article was so insulting to any fanbase in the Big 12 North that as much as I hate NU, I almost want to cheer for them now.
Personally I am sick of the “greatest fans in college football” title that Husker’s fans tout. I mention this in light of their behavior and comments since last year’s title game and the legit call that capped their loss and extends to the insane comments comming out of Nebraska this year.
Yet worse is the crap that Tramel and his ilk dish out. According to this yutz, every other team in the Big 12 shouldn’t have any fans except OU and UT.
“I don’t think Nebraska’s football standards have fallen so low that the Huskers prize a We-Beat-Mizzou piece of hardware. I just think a once-solid fan base has lost its collective mind.”
Good thing that the Oklahoma fanbase doesn’t care about such thing since this year they wouldn’t be recieving such a prize.
Somewhere along the line, Tramel has been beat out or bounced by a member of the
Mizzou Mafia and he has gotten his panties in a wad about it. Never mind that he should be beat out or bounced for every journalism job outside of OK, that is besides the point for him.
