Missouri Men's Basketball All-Time vs. Illinois (plus a poll-Updated!)
The Braggin' Rights game is a Christmas tradition in these parts and the Illinois Fighting Illini has won MORE than their fair share in the series since it has moved to the StL. If you want a COMPLETE breakdown of the series...here is the Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braggin%27_Rights
Mizzou comes into this contest having won ten of their first eleven games while Illinois just lost in the United Center to the Illinois-Chicago Flames. Can the Tigers make it two wins in a row against a ranked Illinois team? Will depth for the Tigers be an issue? How focused will Illinois be after the staggering loss to Illinois-Chicago?
Bill C. will probably answer those questions...the series history after the jump...

Time for Mizzou to take two in a row...Which they did in a back and forth affair. The team is off until Monday. I'll post next week's opponents Sunday!

I doubt we blow them out like we did last year, but I still think we win.
I’m looking for a Denmon three-pointer with 30 seconds left, then we get some stops and some free throws, then the game ends with a party starter by Mr. Bow-wow-ers and we win by 5.
Illilnois looked out of sorts on Saturday
They were getting barely any easy baskets, and this was against a weak UIC team (I was at the United Center). I like our chances.
Off topic, but Christian Stanhardinger just left the Husker program
those games just got a little less intimidating…
115 votes so far . . .
and eight people think Illinois will win. I love the enthusiasm and the utter disregard of history.

Up to 19 of 201...
…pessimists, all of ya.
(Pretty typical fansite vote hedging, if you think about it — everybody’s picking Mizzou to win … but only by 1-5 points.)
Don’t want to lose, don’t want to get all presumptuous and boastful in a way that’ll come back and bite you… hence the classic “guess we’ll just edge them” hedge.
or the always karmic
‘pick the other team to win by 11+’ option. that’s the one i always choose. been wrong every time. :-)

On topic...I love this series
Growing up in StL as a lifelong Mizzou fan—and now an MU grad—it was more than fun attending this game year in, year out while in high school and college. Honestly, it was my favorite event of the holiday season. Without hesitation—and regard for tact—I will say that seeing “The Chief” tackled was one of the funniest things I have ever seen; my brother, father, and I still talk about it to this day. Since leaving the Midwest and joining the Navy, my interest in the series has remained as intense as always, but I have not been able to attend regularly. However, the two times I have been to the game since my graduation have been Popcorn Gate (AWFUL!) and breaking the losing streak last year (AWESOME!). I guess my attendance has been a bellwether for the program over the last decade. (As an aside, hearing a drunk Illini chick tell me that “at least we weren’t a slave state in the Civil War” as a rebuttal to my public jubilation leaving the ScottradeSavvisKiel Center last year was the second funniest Braggin’ Rights memory ever.)
Quite simply, I cannot wait for Wednesday. I’ll be holed up at a bar—hopefully an Alumni watch party—in DC, cheering my guts out and generally scaring innocent bystanders. As always, I will treat this game one very, very small notch below the kU games in its importance—StL fans know the energy of this rivalry.
To sum up my random musings…M-I-Z! Beat U-I!!!!!!!
as long as the egos from '08 don't reappear Mizzou should kickass
Mizzou had their head so far up their ass for that game…. ugg that was horrible.
This game will be another edge of you seat nail biter it would surprise me if it went in to OT.
No better way to finish off the year of watching Mizzou sports then going to this game.
M-I-Z!
Fight Tigers Fight!
I'm glad I provided a great poll with response so Heavy!
