And I'm already late to the game, considering the USA is up 6-0 a little over 13 minutes in. The Tigers also hit the Owls up for a 2-spot in the top of the first.

Country over self

I believe that’s the old saying. Man was he getting slaughtered. The whole first 15 minutes I was watching on my computer in a RSD of 20 people, I found myself yelling in USA fever. Hard to explain to the TA. But they’re a TA, kinda like a fake teacher so it doesn’t really matter

Baseball Update

Eric Anderson throwing well for Mizzou, has a 3-hitter through four.

After giving up a leadoff triple in the bottom of the fourth, he got out of it by striking out FAU’s #5 hitter, and then inducing a 9-2 double-play to end the inning. Credit Dane Opel with the assist for gunning down the would-be shutout killer.

Murphy's Law

Anderson gets pulled after a solid five innings — four hits, no walks, five K’s, despite two HBP’s — and his replacement, Jeff Scardino, promptly gives up a leadoff homer in the sixth.

While Mizzou has had relatively even offensive distribution down the lineup through six — hits from the No. 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 slots in the order — All six of FAU’s hits have come from their top five slots.

2-1 Mizzou through 6.

And at BC Place...

No scoring changes through the 2nd period. Both teams have moved on to Sunday: USA in prepping for Gold, and Finland in resuming creation of obscure operating systems.

Ryan Miller's been pulled

His scoreless streak is now around 104 minutes or so, and gets a standing O from his teammates as Tim Thomas sees his first action in Vancouver.

Over in Auburn…
Still 2-1 Mizzou heading to the bottom of the 8th.

And Mizzou just scored again

Top o the 9th with a runner on third… 2 outs.

Score is 3-1

Scratch that

Now 4-1

Runner on 1st,

Still two outs

FAU implosion helping Mizzou

In the top of the 9th, Tigers score a run without a hit:

  • HBP

  • Balk

  • Walk (runners 1st/2nd)

  • FC (1st & 3rd, 1 out)

  • SB (2nd & 3rd)

  • Liberto sac fly scores Brown
  • Mizzou tacks on another run on a LaFleur infield single to score Ampleman, who had advanced to 3rd on a WP.

Tigers three outs from a 4-1 win.

I thought if USA

won, it’d be a close 2-1 victory…Kipprusoff has been so good recently. Surprising 1st period, to say the least.

"No regrets, that's my motto. That, and everybody wang chung tonight."

He's an elite goalie too

This was quite unexpected. Made the victory that much sweeter
