Mizzou Links: 3-12-10
FOOTBALL!!!!!
First off, breaking news from PowerMizzou: Chaminade's Brandon Hannah has committed to Mizzou! Hannah has slipped a smidge off the radar after a couple of knee injuries, but he has big-time WR potential with near-TE size (6'3, 230ish). That makes six commits for Mizzou so far in this class ... at least one-third of the likely available scholarships.
- The Trib (Dave Matter): Another spring practice in the books
WR Rolandis Woodland put together another solid practice on Thursday. Woodland is thrilled to be practicing with the first-team offense but knows he’ll have to earn that promotion over the next few weeks and months. One thing he wanted to make clear: He never considered transferring this offseason. A few months ago Woodland mentioned on his Facebook page that he was headed out to California, instantly sparking speculation that he was transferring. "People thought I was going to UCLA or a junior college," Woodland told me. Nope and nope. Turns out, Woodland’s mother moved out to California and he headed west to visit her. "But you know how the rumor mill works," he said. "I’m always going to be a Tiger."
- PowerMizzou: Thursday practice notebook
1. Gabbert hits Jerrell Jackson on an out-route. Pass complete.
2. Gabbert feels a blitz off the left edge, and dumps off a pass to Jackson. Pass complete.
3. Gabbert hits Rolandis Woodland in heavy traffic on a bubble screen. Pass complete.
4. Gabbert hits Woodland on a slant over the middle. Pass complete.
5. Gabberts finds Wes Kemp on a long out-route down the left sideline. Pass complete.
6. Gabbert takes off up the middle on an option keeper.
7. Gabbert connects with Woodland again. Pass complete.
8. Gabbert pitches to Kendial Lawrence.
9. Gabbert connects with Derrick Washington. Pass complete.
10. Gabbert scrambles to his right and eventually throws a bullet to Jackson. Pass complete.
10 plays, eight passes, and the ball didn't hit the turf once. Right now, according to Barnes, it's about the team building consistency. Over the first two practices, the 2010 Tigers appear to be doing just that on offense. And, that's where the 2007 squad made its name. - The Trib (Dave Matter): Spring Sneak Peek: Offensive backfield

More from Dave...
Speaking of, I’ve got to come up with better second references for the Gabbert brothers. Gabbert11 and Gabbert7? What about GABBERT and gabbert? Blabbert and Tylabbert?
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a calling. I need not tell you the Blainliness of this operation. The nicknames that are developed here have set the standard for MIzzou Athletics. We must continue in the grand tradition of RMN, and aid Dave “El Matador” Matter (too much?) in this cause.

SBNation's daily bracket update
has us as a 10 and playing……Marquette. Fun. OSU is the 2 seed in that Jacksonville pod.
Bracketology 101 has us a 9 but doesn’t have the bracket up. Potential 8 seed matchups are Northern Iowa, Clemson, and Notre Dame.

Pretty sure they try to avoid rematches from last year's tourney in the first round

It's my understanding that they do try, but it isn't a high priority.
Annoying You Since 1986
Actually...
…when I just drew up my latest Rock-M-tology bracket (posting in 3 minutes!), I ended up with MU-Marquette as well. I flipped Marquette and Louisville, though, since they were the same seed and easy to flip.

Tell
that to BYU and A&M.
"So we finish the 18th and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know".
That was a situation that was unavoidable
because of BYU’s scheduling situation. That’s why they had to rematch.

i enjoy matter's practice reports
but i think i need someone to smack me in the head when i get to the comments section. i read them every time and every time i feel a little dumber for having done so.
Any one else see in the KC star today...
