Missouri Men's Basketball All-Time vs. our NCAA Sub Region Updated thru Rd. 2.
.
Mizzou got their destination and it's Buffalo, New York in a East Sub-Regional (a.k.a. First and Second Rounds) against the Clemson Tigers (Cat Fight!). In the other game, it's the Morgan State Bears vs. the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Since this is the NCAA's I am posting our records against the opponents in our Sub-Region. If Missouri makes it to the Sweet Sixteen, I will post the same against them. I will do a series comment after each opponent.
And now (after the jump) Missouri Men's Basketball All-Time vs. Clemson, Morgan State and West Virginia!
Clemson
(Missouri leads 2-1)
12-29-1985 W *69-64 Honolulu, HI
11-30-1996 L #45-47 San Juan, PR
3-19-2010 W +76-68 Buffalo, NY
* Rainbow Classic
# San Juan Shootout
+ NCAA East Regional First Round
Missouri only faces the Clemson Tigers in neutral court affairs, and this one was the series tie-breaker that Mizzou won!
Morgan State
(Missouri leads 2-0)
12-31-1988 W 96-66 Columbia, MO
11-27-1999 W 91-50 Columbia, MO
Missouri vs. the Morgan State Bears has been a Columbia only affair and I expect it to stay that way. No way Huggie Bear loses this first round game (or will Huggins have his usual luck in the 2nd round in the 1st?)
West Virginia
(Series tied 1-1)
3-19-1992 W *89-78 Greensboro, NC
3-20-2010 L #59-68 Buffalo, NY
* NCAA East Regional First Round
# NCAA East Regional Second Round
The only time Mizzou and WVU has faced each other was 18 years ago in Greensboro and Mizzou won it!
Historically, Missouri has at least broken even with all the teams in the Sub-Region. This may be a good omen of things to come...

I like your first round matchup
Guards that made it to the Elite Eight vs. Guards that have never won a first-round game. Its going to be a fast-paced game – Clemson reminds me of you guys with a bit more emphasis on rebounding vs. your guys’ ability to shoot the three.
Going to be fun. I also like that Clemson is going to have minimal Safford-less tape to go over, whereas you’ll have no such handicap. Not that I think the injury helps, but in a first-round game preparation is key.

The Safford-less tape
is not as much of a handicap as us playing without Safford. Any film you will see of our team without Safford will make you realize that

Wouldn't it be awesome if we got to play Morgan State in round 2?
And then what if a team like Washington makes it to the Sweet Sixteen and we beat them to be in the Elite Eight?

I realize I'm in enemy territory here at the moment.
But I am not really confident at all in Clemson. I think y’all have the upper hand here by a lot. At the same time though it should be a really close and exciting game.
Should be an interesting Friday night in my Mizzou-fan-household with their Clemson student daughter home for Spring Break.

I think it will be evenly matched.
I think the team that wins is the team that gets hot. This will probably be a game of runs and whoever can start playing defense and hit shots at the same time will win.

Okay, I just inadvertantly made some Coach Zvosec-like analysis with that last phrase.
Sorry. I mean that at some point one of these teams will start locking down and the other will start missing. Say Missouri can hold Clemson to missing bad jumpshots and start scoring and all of a sudden a 15-2 run can break the game wide open.

Thanks for stopping by.
I think you’ll find it can be a matchup of similarly paranoid groups of Tigers.
Welcome to Rock M Nation.
Any insight you can provide into your Tigers would be appreciated.
Also, what embarrassing facts can you tell me about your university? Why? No reason. Just asking.

There are enough embarrassing facts I don't think you need my help.

Interesting Clemson facts:
1. It is S. Carolina’s land grant school (NOT the University of South Carolina).
2. It was at one time both an A&M and a military school

Was just about to post that
We were getting our asses handed to us and got that huge TO to catch our collective breath. Mountaineer fans remember that game well.

Ohhh...
Actually do you think I could get the game time moved to 2:30? I’ve got class until 2.

And Len Elmore.
I find it hilarious that Gus and Len got matched up, complete opposites.

Any chance someone can figure out MU's record against other teams called "Tigers"?

I can get around to it.
Just wait until after the tournament…
