Saffy
Thanks for the cast. Bill, I think your dog’s bladder should take priority.
I think Saffy had a much larger effect. It is not just the lack of Saffy’s contribution but how it affects everyone else. Bowers had stated that he likes coming off the bench because he could check out the action and figure out what the opposing is doing before he comes in. I wonder if it has affected Ramsey’s press aggressiveness. Not that Saffy has not been contributing. I know his FG% is not great for a forward, but he does a lot of other things, blocks, assists (good passer for a big dude), plays good D, takes charges, 0.787 FT%, … I am still puzzled by the semi-Saffy hate that I sense from this blog occasionally.
born Dodger blue, now dyed Cardinals red
I think Safford's penetrating quickness is missed
He and Bowers are similar shooters from the outside(or at the very least are defended the same), but Safford’s a bit quicker and more assertive when he puts the ball on the floor. We shake our heads when he puts up bad runners, but he can get us some good looks for others with the resulting ball movement. Most of Safford’s minutes are being taken up by Ramsey and Moore, two complete non-factors from the perimeter. I think there’s at least a little trickle down effect to English/Denmon/Taylor/etc. from not having as versatile an offensive threat on the floor(or an offensive threat at all, in Moore’s case).

I think we agree on what he brings
But I think the point Bill and I were making was that it’s hard to pin the recent struggles on his absence. You’re right about everything else he contributes, but the recent string of missed open shots by Marcus/Kimmie/Zaire have been hard to connect to Saffy.
i wouldn't call it saffy hate
its more shooting down the idea that all our woes are due to saffy being out. i think it might come off as hate because all the things saffy didn’t do are being pointed out but that was just to show that his impact was being a little over-enhanced. i think it was becoming a bit too easy to say we were struggling simply because safford was out.

Thanks for feeling my pain in football season.
Although I am in love with Dabo and think he’s awesome.
It really is true that we are like exactly the same team. Should be interesting.

Gotta agree about Siena
Makes too much sense for an upset. Purdue will be hungry. Of course, if a lot of people start jumping on the ‘reverse upset’ bandwagon I reserve the right to pick Siena.
