That Maryland-MSU ending was crazy.

Also, go Xavier, I’ve got you guys winning this one.

I've got Pitt in the elite eight

despite their youth. Sorry, Jacob Pullen’s beard.

I think we need to make our own version of that picture for Steve Moore.

I think they get to Indy before losing to Kentucky.

There seems to be a lot of thinking that they can’t do well and there really isn’t much evidence to back up that.

BAYLOR

Basketball-wise it wouldn’t be much of an upset, but think about it. Perennial doormat turned good program ousts the pedigree basketball school. Do it, Baylor

I'm not really impressed with Baylor.

They are good, but I’m not sure they are good enough to get the Final Four or maybe the Elite Eight. Also, I would feel awful if Baylor got to make a Final Four before us.

So...

…am trying to crank through the Study Hall piece as soon as possible, but now that the season is over for us, my mind is already drifting toward next season’s six-team conference title race. That’s gonna be fuuuuuuuuuuuun.

A Comparison

I thought it would be fun to dig through the Columbia Tribune’s archive for a little bit (Wow what a roller coaster). I certainly hope that this doesn’t bring up too many bad memories

Night: “The only redeeming thing about it is it is the first game,” Snyder said. “Obviously, if we play like this, it’s going to be an awfully long year.” (Truer words have never been spoken)
http://archive.columbiatribune.com/2005/Nov/20051115Spor009.asp

Day: “It’s exciting basketball,” Anderson said. “If you can’t get excited about that, there’s something wrong with you.
”http://archive.columbiatribune.com/2006/Nov/20061111Spor007.asp" target="_blank">http://archive.columbiatribune.com/2006/Nov/20061111Spor007.asp

Can Northern Iowa beat Michigan State?

I think so. Having all those seniors really pays off. We’re seeing something similar in Cornell with all that senior leadership.

I've got a season recap.

Non-conference:

Missouri plays in South Padre Island invitational, Fox College Sports runs 3 ads over and over and over and over and over.
Missouri goes to Tulsa, wishes they hadn’t.
Missouri kicks Illini ass for first time all decade
Laurence Bowers continues his campaign to be the best dunker ever.
Oregon and Georgia come town, we kick their asses.

Conference:

Kansas State comes to town, ends with Party Startingest Dunk Ever.
Texas Tech decides to hit every possible three-point shot ever, but Mizzou wins in OT.
Oklahoma beats us in our first taste of the 2010 Hightower.
We get our ass kicked by Kansas a couple of times, lost close ones to BU and aTm.
Then Texas comes to town and we take our anger out on them in front of a crazy crowd.
Saffy gets injured, Missouri loses at K-State and that game sucked a lot.
Coffee in Ames
Missouri enters Kansas City, leaves quickly.
Oliver Purnell coaches in the tournament, you know the outcome.
Missouri ends “rebuilding year” with close loss to West Virginia.

From a WV fan

That was tight game, I wanted to mention how impressed I was: your guys played intense and did not give up any any point.
I know how much it sucks right now, we got bounced in the first round last year in a game we could have won.
Dixon scared me every time he had the ball, great spark from that guy.
Good luck next year!

Appreciate the kind words.

Mizzou simply couldn’t afford to miss that many opportunities (in terms of both layups and free throws) and expect to beat a team of West Virginia’s caliber and pedigree.

I came away incredibly impressed with WVU’s mental toughness in taking care of business down the stretch. Hopefully it serves yall well over the coming weeks.

WVU had all the qualities of a Final Four team today.

A star player stepping up, intensity and desire, ability to withstand runs, and, perhaps most importantly, making their free throws.

Sad that I missed it...

My Sunday routine doesn’t give much time for stopping and watching a game. But break open a cold one for Hy-Vee West. Had the Radio feed going through their PA system, and pages were kept to a minimum.

This team showed an awful lot of character this year. Mostly schizophrenic, but I suppose that’s character. We certainly lose a lot of talent and contributions, but we did last year too. I don’t need to rehash our talent coming in the fall, nor the possible growth of the bench (Underwood, eat another sandwich). I sincerely hope that Goggles Moore watches some A. J. tape on how to work the block. And the Party Stater takes a page from the Vanilla Gorilla (also known as the Lithuanian Dream) and attacks more. And by God, let Saffy not have any complications (see Alexander, Danario).

A fine program heading up. No one got arrested (I think). No one got shot (I hope). No one had their jaw broken. They won some games they shouldn’t have, and rebounded from games they should have. Congrats to Coach Anderson and Company.
