Well thank god.High-definition televisions are coming to instant replay this football season in three or four conferences, including the SEC.
David Parry, the national coordinator of football officials, said the Big Ten, Big 12 and possibly the ACC will be the others.
"I think it's a good move," Parry said. "Sometimes a guy at home with high definition was getting a better view of replay than the guy in the stadium at the booth."
...
Some conferences will do more training of replay officials this offseason, Parry said. "We're finding people are less forgiving for the replay official's errors than an on-field official. We're still relatively new at this. We've tweaked it every year."

Replay officials haven't had HD yet?
What the hell?
yeah, it's sad
I know the feller that is the technician in the Zou’s booth. Not the official though. He tells me that he loves it when he travels to KC for the Border War game because the reply is so nice.
Ross and Tep may know, but in Dallas, do they have a booth, or do they just watch the big screen?

I presume they have a booth
You can’t show replays of official reviews to the crowd, right?

nope, if you recall the OSU game last year
they were watching replays on what looked like a 19" screen.
The other related factor is that not every game has HD cameras, of course.
And, oh yeah:

Huh. Imagine that.

Urrr...
Sorry, wrong quote.
“We’re finding people are less forgiving for the replay official’s errors than an on-field official.”
Ugh… need coffee…

Cotton Bowl
I like the idea of a bowl game coming back to the Cotton Bowl. Although I think it should be THE Cotton Bowl, but I’m a traditionalist. I used to enjoy driving down to Dallas and going to the Cotton Bowl every year and watch the game (better than the Liberty Bowl – trust me on this).

We made a random trip to the Liberty Bowl back in '04...
…when Mizzou didn’t have their own bowl to go to. The stadium obviously sucks (as it did for the Mizzou-Memphis game in ‘99), but we had a great time. Anytime you’ve got a reason to go to Beale Street, it’s a good trip. (That, and the ’04 Liberty Bowl was the greatest ever…the Boise-Louisville “First to 40 wins” game.)

Filthy diablo?
I can’t believe that was discontinued. Eating one was a life goal for me the moment you mentioned it.

OK, what the hell..
We reference Dyer’s in Memphis, and I come home to find a Travel Channel show talking about their deep fried burgers there.
Cruel.

I MISSED the '04 Liberty Bowl
To drive down to Dallas to see UT play A&M in the Cotton Bowl. Of all the LOUSY Liberty Bowls I’ve been to (and TRUST me, there have been MANY), to miss that one pains me.

One could do a lot worse than the Cotton Bowl
I’d probably rather go to Dallas/Cotton Bowl than about 10 other bowl sites and stadiums. It wouldn’t be anwyhere near the prestige of the Cotton Bowl, but I wouldn’t mind it replacing the Texas Bowl or Yankee Bowl when it folds in the Big 12 rotation.
But what would it be called? And was cotton really that big around Dallas back in the day?
I like the article on Stoggles.

Not related to articles
but is the preview/trifecta going to be up in the morning?
Great moments are born from great opportunity.
I hope so.
I’ve already got my trifecta figured but I can’t get to a computer at my workplace/school so my trifecta of “Best Celebrations of Coffee’s Winner in Ames” (because actually trying to win never works, no seriously, when I first started that last game by choosing the best nicknames it was actually the closest I’ve ever gotten) won’t be able to be entered if it’s not up by 7:00 AM on March 10th.
