Was looking at Hawaii's website
They have the middle of the 3 Rickett’s sisters, the other 2 are at Oklahoma. Just like Keilani (who played all 3 games vs. Missouri and won 2 of them), Stephanie is a dominant pitcher on an oversized frame. She also has alot of run support as Hawaii is at or near the top in most major hitting categories.
Hawaii may be the 16 seed and ranked 16th in the RPI, but they might be one of the scariest teams we’ve seen yet.
Like Beefy said yesterday...
…the goal really has to be to keep the ball down and see if they can score without the long ball. They are scary because, while they are probably a bit limited in other areas, the things they do well (power, power, power and power), they do really, really well. If we can take them out of their comfort zone, we might be able to handle them just fine, but if Nottelmann gets the ball up in the zone, and if we’re swinging and missing at the heaters coming at us when we’re at bat, then they’ll probably win.

I'm really starting to love these expansion articles.
Even though none of them are really saying anything new or interesting, it’s incredibly satisfying to read comments from all these other fanbases trying to convince themselves that Missouri is worthless and won’t be a loss, even though the Big 10 will never offer them. Yeah right, guys. Keep telling yourselves that. I’m increasingly hopeful that we’ll be as dominant the next year or two as it looks like we could be, just because it would be hilarious to kick the crap out of the Big 12 a little bit before we move on to better pastures.
I also ran into a friend of mine this weekend who works in the MO Capitol, and he’s hearing from a lot of the big wigs there that it’s a done deal, and that 2010-2011 is Missouri’s last football and basketball year in the Big 12. I don’t know how much veracity there is there, but it’s an interesting tidbit.
Making fun of the "Mizzou Needs a Fullback" Club since...well, for a while, anyway.
It's interesting to see the difference in response from Big XII and Big Ten fanbases
The Big Ten fanbase seems to believe that Mizzou is a lock and they are generally ok with that, though they do seem to consider Nebraska the more logical choice. There’s very little of the posturing that you see in the Big XII. Very few Big XII teams seem to publicly want Mizzou to stay and you see an enormous amount of “Mizzou is scared”, “Mizzou hasn’t won anything”, and “We can replace Mizzou in a second”. I think it’s all posturing to try and get Mizzou to back down, but they don’t seem to understand that it’s not going to work. Honestly, is there anything funnier than KU or Sooners fans warning Mizzou about the dangers of greed? I think someone in the Big XII is scared, but it’s not Missouri. Everyone claims that the proposed Pac-10 media deal is going to be the greatest in history and that Mizzou will regret leaving that behind, but if Mizzou and Nebraska leave, would such a media deal be as attractive to the networks? And wouldn’t adding Mizzou and Nebraska give the Big Ten more bargaining power with the networks and cable companies?
I don’t expect the Big XII to roll over and give in to all of Mizzou’s demands, but the hard line they’re taking on every issue no matter how trivial really reinforces why Missouri needs to bolt.
The Big 12 is stupid if...
They make Dallas the permanent home of the championship game. I know it’s a great venue but that just continues to scream in the face of everyone else in the conference it’s all about Texas. Do they not understand it’s that kind of crap that is creating the tension in the conference? Bo Pelini probably doesn’t care about the elements, that was code for, “Hey morons, how about we get the game a little closer to home from time to time.”
And Jerry Jones can screw off, he just wants money and attention for his stadium.
In life, as in a football game, the principle to follow is: Hit the line hard. -Theodore Roosevelt
Generally I agree with you...
But I’d also implore you to find another venue where the Big 12 could make even 90 percent of the revenue they make in Arlington. And isn’t revenue what the whole expansion thing is about?
The problem is that it's short-term thinking.
Texas is sucking the life out of the Big XII and the more Texas-centric the conference becomes, the weaker the rest of the conference becomes. That’s fine with Texas because as soon as the rest of the conference withers away, they’ll just trade up and move to another conference or go independent. Other fans like to complain about how disloyal Mizzou is to the conference, but to paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, the Big XII isn’t a suicide pact.
