So, no Arkansas, Brigham Young, Arizona, Arizona State, Houston, Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis, TCU, SMU, Tulsa, Colorado State…are we missing a rumored target? At least no additions anytime soon.

The athletic and Big 12 officials discussed scheduling and championships. Nothing has been finalized. The athletic directors will take ideas back to coaches, but there is strong sentiment for a nine-game football schedule, especially if the conference decides to scrap its championship game.
And an 18-game basketball schedule with schools playing each opponent home and away is the likely outcome in that sport.

The cognitive dissonance involved in all the spreading of "Houston/TCU/BYU/whoever to Big 12" rumors has been maddening. In one sentence, they mention that the Big 12 is sticking together because the money is good. In the next sentence, they suggest adding TCU, Houston, or some other school that has no chance of generating the $17 million or so per year they need to generate to keep everybody's payout the same. The person who suggested adding BYU, Boise State, TCU AND Houston made me want to take a fork to my eye. For better or worse, this conference has stayed together for the money, and while TCU et al would be a worthy addition in terms of football, the money's just not there, so it won't happen. I'm not saying it's right, just saying it's the world in which we live...
