Mizzou Links, 7-1-10
We officially celebrate July with ... a small set of links. It's officially the midpoint of the offseason...

- KC Star (Campus Corner): So is Tommy Tuberville Going to Be to Blame Now?
On Rivals Radio, Tuberbille said:
"I don't think this conference will last long because there is too much disparity between all the teams. In the SEC, for instance, Vanderbilt makes as much money in the television contract as Florida. Everybody is good with it. Everybody is on the same page. Everyone gets the same votes.
"That doesn't happen here in the Big 12. We have some teams that get a little bit more money and have a little bit more stroke than some of the other teams. And when that happens, you're gonna have teams looking for better avenues to leave and reasons to leave."
So when the next shock wave of expansion and contraction hits, are people going to blame Texas Tech for starting it all?
- Tulsa World (Dave Sittler): Texas Tech's Tuberville should fight for Big 12
Some have praised Tuberville for having "the guts" to say something that a lot of his peers are thinking. That's one way to look at it. Another is that Tuberville's diplomacy skills need some polishing.
DAVE SITTLER SAYS TO KNOW YOUR PLACE, TUBS.
The Big 12 is in the fight of its 16-year life. And nobody can declare for absolute certainty at this point that the downsized conference will make it long term once the Cornhuskers and Buffaloes are gone.
But there are a whole bunch of schools that desperately need it to survive. And Texas Tech could be one of them.

- Nebraska State Paper: Big 12 Preview: Ten Underrated Players
Wes Kemp, Missouri wide receiver
Why he’s on the list: Kemp, at 6-4, 225, should become a favorite downfield target for Blaine Gabbert, considering he averaged 18.2 yards per catch last year and Danario Alexander served in that role in 2009. Look for Kemp to at least triple his number of catches from 23 to 69 and potentially double his yardage total from 418 to 836. - The Trib: Kadlec is touched to win award

Wes Kemp can flat out block
That seems to be forgotten sometimes. WR blocking is critical in the spread with all the screens. Kemp’s blocking contributed to a good chunk of Danario’s yardage last year.
That said, I think it is entirely possible that Kemp’s numbers improve as much as the link above indicates.
I liked that they said his catches could triple and his yards double...
…no way he maintains those same per-catch averages with a ton more catches, but he really could be tremendously successful. We simply have no idea. Nothing that happens with Jackson or Kemp, good or bad, would surprise me at this point.

July!
…one month closer to football season, which is one month closer to basketball season, which is one month closer to #tremendousstubble!

I need to not read Dave Sittler
He’s the hackiest hack that has ever sat at a keyboard.

Ooh...those are lofty words...
…I can think of many others (just within the state of Oklahoma) who could give him a run for that title.
