ZouDave Presents... Mizzou vs Texas Tech (2006 & 2007)
With Texas Tech BTBS previews coming shortly, I felt it would be a good time to switch gears from Nebraska by reminding you all of the last two times Gary Pinkel teams met Mike Leach teams.

I was at that game in 2006.
Very fun.

"...some of the biggest roars you hear at Mizzou Arena these days are for steals, shot clock violations, and forcing opponents into timeouts in their own backcourt. Just as Anderson has crafted himself a team built on defensive intensity, he's built himself a fan base that echoes that same value system." - RPT

That would make sense...
… seeing as he did not make that trip.

The 2007 game was awesome
I think I heard the word “shootout” about a thousand times from the media in the week leading up to that game, and the utter dismantling of the Tech offense was just beautiful to behold. To this day, I still can’t fathom what Leach was thinking trying all of those fourth down conversions, but the guy had guts, you have to give him that. It’s going to be interesting to see what my new favorite non-Mizzou Big 12 coach Tommy Tuberville will do with this team, assuming Dan Beebe doesn’t send in a hit squad to take him out.
it's like being kicked in the goods over and over......
I waltz in here trying to read up on Mizzou and this is what a Tech person gets. Damn you all!!
Just kidding. Hopefully, Tech can redeem itself.

My favorite Willy Mo moment of all time
Is at the end of that 2007 game on the last pick, when he DESTROYS tech’s wideout right before the ball gets to him with one of the most devastating shoulder blocks I’ve ever seen.

He got called for a penalty on that, too
He was called for unnecessary roughness for hitting a defenseless receiver. Happened directly in front of where I sit so I remember it well. Such utter bullshit. But the time that receiver gets hit, he’s not a receiver anymore as the ball had been intercepted. Plus, Moore didn’t spear his or hit him in the head. It was a perfectly legal shoulder-to-body hit that was nothing more than a devastating block, but it was TOO good and was deemed a penalty. Luckily the game was over, and they ruled it happened after the INT so it didn’t negate Gettis’ great pick.
