Mizzou Links, 7-7-10

Now that I've finished last night's Simpsons quote fest from UribeAuction and ghtd36 on Twitter, let's rock...

Mizzou (and Big 12) Football Links

  • PowerMizzou: Ten Tigers to watch: #10
  • PowerMizzou: Pat Ivey talks Tiger summer program
  • Sikeston Standard Democrat: Kony Ealy: Definition of Athlete
  • Texas
Burnt Orange Nation: 2010 Texas Longhorns Season: The Things I Must Know (Honestly, I think these questions are pretty much dead on, though at this point I have no reason to doubt the defensive line. All Longhorn questions for 2010 are on the offense, I think.)
  • Oklahoma State
Tulsa World: OSU's Gundy may be testing PIckens' faith
When it comes to Gundy's future, Bohls predicted: "Mike Gundy could be fired by December if manly Oklahoma State, which now has fewer weapons, continues to underachieve.

"Mike Gundy will be fired by T. Boone Pickens if Mr. Wind Energy — Mr. Hot Air, if you're a Missouri fan — thinks he's not getting his money's worth. Don't be shocked if new offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen or Holgorsen's mentor and Cowboys consultant, Mike Leach, slips in as head coach."

Pickens genuinely admires how Leach turned Texas Tech into a consistent winner. That included some victories over Oklahoma and Texas, schools that Gundy has gone a combined 0-10 against in his five seasons at OSU.
    OSU's wins in Gundy's five seasons: 4, 7, 7, 9, 9. Underachieving? Really?

Big 12 Basketball Links

  • K-State Sports: Delonte Hill Receives Coaching Honor

A mea culpa: call me crazy, but it appears I may have been wrong in my initial opinions of the Frank Martin/Delonte Hill hirings.  I saw no possible way it would work, and with Martin's fiery exterior, it could still coming to a flaming end at some point, I guess, but this has already worked out very well so far ... and I've gotta say I am very much enjoying the injection of personality this team got when Martin (and Hill) took over.

New Big 12 Links

Other Mizzou Links

  • The Maneater: MU student athletes rank second in Big 12 academically
  • Ben Askren
The Trib: Ben Askren just as lethal verbally
  • Mizzou Volleyball
The Missourian: Missouri freshman playing in Mexico

  • Michael Atchison: Same Time Next Year (This is the NAIA piece for Basketball Times to which Atch referred in last week's Roundtable. You know you'll read it, and you know you'll enjoy it.)
