Hilton Coliseum basketball court in 8 feet of water
If you have not yet seen/heard, terrible flooding on the Iowa State campus. I-35 is closed in both directions south of Ames.

Twice as bad!

I posted a video link in the earlier post.

wow
worse than 1993? I remember the 93 floods…I skipped football camp that year because we were filling sandbags in New Franklin…I remember how bad it got in Iowa as the waters worked their way to the Mississippi.
To young for football
but I spent most of 1993 sandbagging with my BSA troop. They were arresting people that got into the water at our riverfront park, because it was full of sewage (the arrests were because people didn’t heed the health warnings).

I didn't do any sandbagging (I was 15 that summer)
I spent a few weeks on a mission trip in Arkansas working for Habitat, and we came back 1 or 2 days before the levees in Chesterfield broke. I regret not trying to get somewhere to help, but much of the work was done while I was gone.
totally ignoring the big picture
but I wonder how(if) that will effect the court this season?
our hs bball court
flooded a couple years back. it had to be totally replaced, of course. if hilton is under 8 feet, i assume some stands would have to be replaced, too.

Horrible for all involved. That does not bode well
for hopes of getting the arena ready for BB season. ISU just continues to take the body blows.
Respect and honor your opponent, unless that opponent is a fictional bird. In which case you hit him until he falls, kick him until dead and burn the remains.
This is horrible
I can’t believe some of the rivers are at stages higher than in ’93.
Has there been that much rain higher in the river systems? (I’m on the west coast so I am not up to date on midwest weather)

My parents live in MN
they tell me the rain up there has a been often, but the rivers there flooded early due to the snow from last season. This could be a combination of all the snow fall and the near continuous rain this summer that Iowa has seen.
But, there is some guy coming to Fulton this weekend to tell us that the end is nigh….maybe this has something to do with it.

desperate attempt to declare Hilton totaled and build new arena
and help instill momentum into their bball program. I would not put it past ISU’s AD to let the water in — at least to get a new court plastered with Hoiberg’s face all over it. Anyone who lies about attendance figures as much as he does is not to be trusted (am being somewhat sarcastic. just somewhat).
New pictures on Des Moines Register
The court is floating on ten feet of water with volleyball nets still attached.
