BlogPoll Preseason Ballot (UPDATED)
The BlogPoll [which has moved its affiliation from CBS Sports to SB Nation] is starting up again and Rock M Nation's preseason ballot is due soon. I have a couple ideas of my own, but nothing set anything close to being in stone.
What would your top 25 look like, or what are some teams that you at least feel strongly about, either positively or negatively?
Updated with the first draft of the ballot, which I hate more than Lew Perkins hates rulebooks.

Or at the very least week 1
Isn’t having a preseason poll a bit counter to the whole point of the blogpoll? I know it’s more flexible and whatnot, but still.

It's only counter to the whole point...
… if the voters aren’t self-aware enough to realize that their initial ballots aren’t infallible.

Understood, but I think that's inevitable to some degree
Even with a self-awareness about anchoring, it’s still going to happen a bit, and it just seems needless to encourage that with a preseason poll(disclaimer about the entire blogpoll/polls/sports being unnecessary/needless here).

That's all true.
But anchoring will occur regardless of whether or not we submit a ballot.

There are self-aware ballots?
The liquidity frightens me.

Reports of the Alabama defense are unimpressive
Or their offense has become unstoppable in the off season.
Nobody knows anything until games are played.
Big 12 Teams...
Oklahoma is from 3-7
Texas is 8-12
Nebraska is 15-20
Mizzou and A&M I wouldn’t start in the poll, but I don’t think anyone is a fool that would put them in spots 20-25 either.
Annoying You Since 1986
A&M went 6-7 last year.
They should earn any poll inclusion.

I don't remember
Does RMN run closer to the resume ballot or power ranking?

Start the season with a power ranking...
… and slowly transition into a résumé.

Based on my NCAA Football 09 dynasty
I feel strongly that UAB is going to win a national championship this year and will subsequently replace Vanderbilt in the SEC.

I'm sure the rest of the SEC would hardly notice.
but then there academic rankings would fall even lower.

Nubs are WAY too high. No way is that the 11th best team in the country.
Annoying You Since 1986
Fair enough.
Who do you put ahead of them? That’s the real bitch.

Well off the top of my head...
Teams 12-21 and 23-25
Annoying You Since 1986
Still don't understand how Nebraska is being ranked this high.
Lose 5 defensive starters, losing the best defensive tackle in the past 30 years in college football, still don’t have an offense. It doesn’t really matter though. If they are ranked high at the end of the year, it will be because they proved they are good. If they do badly, they’ll simply drop out of the rankings. Unless you’re from a non-AQ conference, pre-season ranking doesn’t really matter much.

The issue, it seems...
… is that EVERYONE is flawed. That’s the biggest lesson that came out of the first ballot.

It's a preseason ballot, so it's an exercise in educated guessing basically.
I’d move Notre Dame down a touch, Oregon down a touch, and Houston up a touch.
Also, LSU is my boom or bust pick this year. They could go 6-6, but they could also be silly good.
