Rock M Roll Call 2010
It's once again time for us to take count of the RMN community and welcome in any lurking readers. Please join us in participating in the 2010 Rock M Roll Call. What exactly is the Rock M Roll Call? Here's what I had to say last year (and the year before that!):
It's back again. It's like the census, but annual and more awesome.
It's the Rock M Roll Call.
If you aren't familiar with the Rock M Roll Call, here's what I had to say about it last year:
This is something I've wanted to do for awhile, but with football season inching closer, I figured it's time to take the first official Rock M Roll Call.
At its core, the roll call is simply a way for everyone here on RMN to introduce themselves and establish some sense of who they are, where they're from, and their affiliation to the University of Missouri. For an idea of what we're shooting for, check out what Double T Nation did early in July.
Whether you joined Rock M from its first day last October or are brand spankin' new to the RMN community, join us in the comments and give us a little insight about who you are when it comes to Mizzou fandom.
In addition, to get this post to stick at the top of the FanPosts throughout the [early part of the] season, everyone please take the time to click the "Rec" button below the text to recommend this post. Hopefully, this will entice every RMN member to join in the Roll Call.
As always, we request that every single person who reads RMN please respond, including both frequent posters and lurkers. It's always interesting to see where we all come from as a group. Here's this year's list of questions:
- What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
- Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
- For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
- How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
- You're given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
- In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
FanPosts may be posted by any RMN member and may not reflect the views of the management staff of Rock M Nation or SB Nation.

Um first?
1. I am an alum, graduated in 2009, thus the name. I am also affiliated with the university, although apparently I associate with folks who don’t know jack, thus the running “sources” joke.
2. Born and raised in St. Louis, but currently live in Columbia.
3. I like all the professional st louis teams, but not really a fan of any other colleges. I like Georgia Tech and Navy’s triple option offenses though, so I will watch them if they are on.
4. I was trying to find an online link to a Mizzou bball game last year, and googled a search phrase that brought me here.
5. Norm Stewart. No reason needed.
6. I would attend the football game, soley because I think that basketball would be much more likely to be back in the game at some point in my lifetime because Missouri frankly is just not going to be a traditional national championship contender in football, while it is possible in basketball.
Annoying You Since 1986
Yes
It all makes sense now huh?
Annoying You Since 1986
Let's get it started
1. I am currently a junior student at the Journalism school. I’m working for the Missourian this year, writing about men’s and women’s golf (wooo??)
2. I was born and raised in the Dallas, TX area (Cedar Hill, specifically), but I am currently living in Columbia.
3. I am a Rangers and Stars fan because I grew up in the Dallas area, obviously. I also follow the Lakers because my dad was born in LA and was raised a Lakers fan, so he passed that along to me. My favorite football team is the Steelers because I hated the Cowboys as a kid and wanted to to choose a different team. The first season I followed the Steelers was 2002 when they went 6-10, so I wasn’t really a bandwagoner, but whatever. Finally, I am a huge Mizzou fan.
4. I joined the Texas Rangers SBNation site (LoneStarBall) in 2008 and searched around the rest of SBNation for a Mizzou site.
5. I would choose Sean Weatherspoon because he is awesome. Duh.
6. No doubt it would be basketball. I’m not really a huge basketball fan, but the Mizzou basketball is probably my second favorite team (behind the Rangers). We got so close in 09 and I can see us getting even closer in the next 2 seasons. I am sooooo pumped.

ok
1. Alum and now an employee
2. Illinois originally, about an hour south of Chicago, now Columbia.
3. Cubs/Bears/Blackhawks – because I enjoy being disappointed (Blackhawks decided to change that). Have zero rooting interest in any other college team.
4. I don’t remember really. Used to read Tigerboard for whatever reason and maybe saw it mentioned there? Either way I was happy to find some place where fans weren’t total psychos.
5. I think GP would be interesting, given how low the program was when he got here and how high they’ve gotten.
6. Football
I'm here...even though I rarely post
1. Student from 89-92
2. Born in Lubbock, TX, raised in Nevada, MO and currently live in Kansas City
3. I’ll get killed for this, but I’ve always been a Texas fan because of my roots in Texas. Also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, but have been since birth.
4. Was surfing the web, found this site when looking for MIZZOU blogs, and been a member ever since.
5. Coach Dan Devine, just to hear his stories about the MIZZOU greats of the past and his philosophy on football. Would be a fascinating discussion!
6. Most definitely, FOOTBALL!!!
Bless you for escaping Lubbock.

Ain't that the truth!
Would still love to move to Dallas, though. Love the city, and I have family and friends down there.

In my three junior high years . . .
. . . 61-64, I threw the Nevada Daily Mail every afternoon after school. Small world.
My Dad and I played the El Dorado Springs golf course when the greens were actually sand, rather than grass, and you had to roll the green after every putt. Ahhhhh, the not-so-good old days.
Some insight:
1. Mizzou student.
2. Born and raised in River Forest, IL, currently in Columbia
3. Liverpool F.C., Chicago White Sox, Chicago Fire, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Blackhawks, UCLA
4. I stalk RPT
5. I’ve had a few outrageous nights with Mizzou players (Van Alexander…), but I don’t think anyone could top a night out with Quinn Snyder. It would get out of control. Quickly.
6. The atmosphere of the NCAA basketball tournament gives it the edge. As long as I have lower bowl seats and am not in the rafters of a football stadium watching a basketball game.
Make sure Quin does not get to meet your girlfriend.

3) I like all sports but don’t have any favorite teams as bill simmons would say I’m a sports atheist
4) I too was searching for mizzou links came here and got hooked hard
5) drinking with coach Quinn would be something to see especially if we could go to george’s
6) basketball no question favorite sport and mizzou is my favorite team

I don't post too much...
I used to post all the time on tigerboard when it first started (hosted on the physics lab servers back in the mid-90s). Not so much now.
1. I am an alum, class of ‘97. As is my wife.
2. Born in KC, raised in Blue Springs. Currently reside in Alexandria, VA. Wife is the president of the local D.C. alumni chapter, I am the co-president. ;)
3. KC sports teams. Mildly interested in the Nationals since I moved out here in 2002.
4. Not sure, some one probably sent me a link. I lurked but never really posted until recently (still don’t post much).
5. I actually spent an evening chauffeuring Coach Stewart and his wife when they were out here and they attended our alumni holiday party. He was a great conservationist, I hope every Mizzou fan gets an opportunity to meet him. So if I can’t pick him again, I’d pick Dan Devine.
6. I’ll take my first love, basketball.
Oldish guy 1
1. Came to Columbia for my Master’s and PhD in Physiology. Currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow with Biomedical Sciences
2. Born in Hammond, IN (part of Chicagoland), raised in Eastern Iowa. Currently live in Fulton
3. Cubs and Bears fan through genetic requirement. Still interested in what the Hawkeyes do from my HS days.
4. I got sent here by someone sometime for something I don’t remember. Spend more time here than Facebook.
5. Done this…I’ve been drinking with him on float trips, but I worked with Dr. Ed Blaine, 1961 AA Lineman. Great stories from him.
6. Football, because mostly likely it’s warm and the atmosphere is going to be a bit more insane.
Finds MvP RoC to be a stellar individual
I don't think I did this last year
1. What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
Attended the University of Missouri from 1996-2000 and got my BA in Communication, where I had the pleasure of being friends with The Beef and Bill C.
2. Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
Born and raised in New York City and currently live in the greater Las Vegas, NV area.
3. For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
Well, I grew up rooting for the Yankees and Giants (because of my dad) and the Knicks, although I now disavow any rooting interest for that basketball team. Usually when I move to a new area/school I adopt that team, so I root for Illinois State (where I got my master’s degree), Eastern Michigan (to just win a game a year), Penn State football, UNLV and Ohio State (because my wife is from Ohio).
4. How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
Actually, if I recall things correctly, I think I came across Rock M Nation courtesy of our Red Raider friends at Double T Nation. The actual circumstances are fuzzy, and I had also lost contact with Bill C. and the Beef since leaving Mizzou. I followed a link and boom! goes the dynamite.
5. You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
I’m going to take a trip back in the wayback machine and hang out with coach Don Faurot the night he started working on the Split T formation, if for no other reason than to further my studies in college football offensive formations.
6. In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
Back in college, I probably would have said basketball. Now? There’s no question it would be football.

here we go
1. I’m a freshman in the j-school, beginning work at MUTV next week, and beyond excited.
2. Born in suburban Chicago, been there my whole life, now in Como.
3. Diehard Cubs, Blackhawks (you should check out SCH), and Bulls fan, but not a Bears fan. (Don’t ask why, I don’t know.) Instead, I sell my soul every year for the Dolphins. I used to be a huge Fighting Illini fan, too (and subsequently grew to strongly dislike starting 0-1 every god damn year), but since choosing Mizzou over U of I last fall, I have quickly and completely switched my allegiances.
4. To be quite honest I’m not entirely sure. I think sometime last winter I was reading up online about Mizzou’s basketball history (you know, it felt really weird for a (probably too) intense, diehard sports fan like me to all of a sudden be rooting for a team that I hadn’t been rooting for my whole life. I can recite dates like nothing for the Cubs and the Blackhawks and the Dolphins etc. and I needed to know all about Mizzou’s past ASAP.) So I don’t really remember but google must have brought me to an article on this page, and I had never heard of it or SBN before so I poked around a little bit, found this, found SCH, and I was hooked.
5. Given my having been a Mizzou fan for roughly 8 months, I’m gonna go with Kim English, since he’s really the first Mizzou athlete I knew, watched, and was impressed by.
6. Basketball. As much as i LOVE college football, college basketball is my favorite. I love everything about it, and the tournament is simply the pinnacle of sports. One shining moment is unbelievable (except for in 2005…f*@?ing Sean May) and it was hard to hear, but I heard CMA mention something to us freshman about a National Championship the other day at Tiger Walk. I really really really hope he’s right, preferably sometime in the next four years.

Current name seemed more tasteful as I approach 30.
1. Alum. Graduated in ‘05. I was what seemed to be the rare out of state student who didn’t major in journalism.
2. Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago where I currently reside.
3. Huge Bears fan. Bulls season ticket holder. White Sox.
4. Stumbled upon this site during the greatness of the 2007 football season. Been a frequent visitor and occasional poster ever since.
5. Wow. That’s a hard one. I’m going with Zaire Taylor. The 08-09 bball season was so much fun…and that team was so likeable….it would be fun to talk with Mr. Coffee about that team and how it all came together. I guess I really could pick just about anyone off that team though, really.
6. Probably basketball. Only because I would cherish a bball title only a tiny bit more than one in football. Going to either would be a dream come true for just about anyone on this site though, I imagine.
Glad to see you have grown up.
But the sentiment remains!

This year I came out of the shadows as a lurker . . .
. . . and ventured into the scary unknown of computer blogging.
1. I am an alumnus (1968-72). I lived in Hatch Hall the second year of its existence – fourth floor, Drake House Swamp Turkeys, ooh, ahh, ooh, ahh, ooh, ahh, gobble, gobble, gobble! Sorry, jush had to do that – had a nostalgic moment.
2. I was born and raised deep in the Ozark hills of south-central Missouri; where I also reside, coming home in 2001 after a long career as a journalist in the Denver, Savannah and West Palm Beach markets.
3. I have always been a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and became a Bronco and Nuggets fan while living in Denver, which has continued to the present.
4. I found RMN more than two years ago from a Google search regarding Mizzou basketball recruiting. I lurked for a year or more, and finally, tentatively, posted my first comment sometime last year.
5. I would probably choose Norm Stewart over Dan Devine to spend an evening with, simply because there would be so many more athletes and games involved which we would both remember.
6. I would choose basketball, because it is my favorite sport and the excitement spikes come more frequently during a good game.
witty title
1. ‘09 Alum
2. Born and raised in various St. Louis suburbs. Currently in grad school in Chicago
3. Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Blues, Phoenix Suns, whoever is playing kU and the Lakers. I’d like to say I’m a Royals fan but that’s tough to say. I just don’t care much for baseball anyway.
4. I honestly don’t remember how I found it. I think I found a link from somewhere else
5. That’s tough, between Norm Stewart and Dave Yost. Probably Norm.
6. Football. I’ll never forget when my dad called me while i was in the car to San Antonio a couple of years ago to tell me he just got his order form for BCS Championship tickets. I feel like it’s unfinished business. Although I was ready to dip into the savings account for tickets to Detroit a while back.
In life, as in a football game, the principle to follow is: Hit the line hard. -Theodore Roosevelt
Read every day but don't post
1) I was raised a fan by my father who attended law school at Mizzou. Currently, my wife is a med student at Mizzou. (Despite my love of Mizzou, I went to New Orleans for college and grad school).
2) I was born in St. Charles, just outside of St. Louis. I currently spend half my time in Columbia and half my time in St. Charles (where I work).
3) Cardinals, Rams (the Chiefs to a lesser extent now that ST. Louis has a team again), Blues (I’m from the St. Louis area, remember)
4) I began reading vivaelbirdos. I liked it and wondered if there was anything similar for Mizzou. I found Rock M’s predicessor sites and was reading Rock M from the beginning.
5) I think this has to be Norm Stewart. For the better part of my life the man WAS Mizzou sports. Also, I have to think he’d be a pretty entertaining guy to talk to over a few drinks.
6) Part of me wants to say football, but this has got to be basketball for me. Especially as we always seemed on the verge of breaking through to an elite level and never quite got there for most of my life. It would be like 30 years of almost finally coming true. Football has been pretty sad most of my life and I’m very happy that we are finally respectable.
Long time lurker, first time poster...
1. Alum from the heydays of 96 – 2000.
2. Born in NYC, raised in San Fran and DC and still live in DC
3. SF 49ers, SJ Sharks (growing up there) and adopted the Nationals when the Expos moved to DC. As for college I follow the MD Terrapins as that is where most of my friends went, as did the wife. I am forced by this marriage to hate Duke, which is cool with me.
4. I can’t remember, but when I did I was thrilled to death to be able to get all my Mizzou news from one source.
5. Probably Larry Smith, he just seemed like a good guy, and he made us a winning team again. Thank you Larry…even if it was for only 2 years.
6. This is a ridiculously difficult question, but probably basketball just because after Thanksgiving, the NCAA tournament is my favorite holiday..
Welcome to the non-lurking world!

Let me put on my blamestorming cap.
1. I fell out of my mom with a Warren Powers haircut.
2. From: StL. Formerly Omaha for a few years. Now in Knoxville, TN for the past two…for now.
3. Cardinals (baseball), Blues, and Chicago Bears. Also talk Geelong Cats (AFL) and random EPL stuff.
4. Was searching for porn on Google (who knew ‘Rock hard size M boobs’ would send me here?). Or maybe it was when I was running Mizzourah and read ETS and Mizzou Sanity were having a baby.
5. So many choices! Josh Kroenke? We could get loaded in some small Missouri town, then I can take the car, leaving his ass to fend for himself (couldn’t stand him). Kalen Grimes? We could go to DQ for a couple Blizzards and walk out with more money than we walked in with. I’d probably take Corby Jones though. Easily my favorite Mizzou athlete.
6. Football. Not even close.

2. Joplin, MO – same
3. STL Cards

5. Jeff Wolfert – I like kickers
6. Football – Never had much interest in Basketball as it conflicted with wrestling season.

- Alumni, class of 2007 from the journalism school.
- Born in Florida, raised all over…my dad is a Marine. Spent time in California, Virginia, back in California, and England before coming to Mizzou for school. After a couple of years in Montana for work, I’m back in Columbia.
- My family is from Kansas City, so rooting for the Chiefs and Royals wasn’t ever a choice. My wife and in-laws are trying their hardest to make me a Red Wings fan (not really a hockey fan to begin with, and they’re from Detroit), but I’ve resisted so far.
- No idea how I came across Rock M Nation…was in 2007, I think, but I imagine I just googled something like “Mizzou sports blog” and found it that way.
- I’ll go with Faurot. Would be interested to see what he thought of Mizzou’s spread offense.
- I prefer football to basketball, but Mizzou basketball is probably the first time I’ve rooted for a team that plays EXACTLY the kind of style I enjoy, so I give Anderson’s boys the edge.

The Red Wings are the Jayhawks of hockey
pure douchebaggery. Keep resisting. I’d rather have someone NOT be a fan of hockey (which I love with every fiber of my being) than be a Red Wings fan.
Short version
I grew up in Missouri and graduated from Mizzou in 1991 with a bachelor’s in anthropology. I’ve been in Tallahassee FL for the past 15 years (I got a masters at FSU after getting a masters at Illinois – yes I collected them for awhile). I’ve actually become a bigger fan of Mizzou since I’ve been away from Missouri – it gives me a sense of connection to home for one thing (plus the minor issue of the football team suckage when I was there). I still remember one of the greatest things about the internet in the mid 90s was discovering that I could read local news and forum comments about Big 8/12 teams that I would otherwise have no access to here in Florida. Rock M Nation is the apex, the culmination (maybe even the epitome and zenith?) of that, and I read it everyday.
When I'm not writing RPT and thinking Bill
1. What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou? I grew up in the area and Mizzou’s the only thing in town worth talking about.
2. Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside? Raised in rural Howard County, Marines brought me to San Diego and I’ve (mostly) been here ever since.
3. For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why? Always loved Cardinals baseball, though I really like San Diego. Manchester United, because I’ve always admired their manager and I really like how they play the game.
4. How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
Someone linked to RMN in the comments of the Tribune and I immediately liked the content here and the SB Nation as a whole.
5. You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
Ehren Earlywine, so we can discuss the finer points of Tremendous Stubble.
6. In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
Neither. I could never afford a ticket to either of them even if I could, it’d be so damn far away I would see anything anyhow. I’d rather sit at home and watch it in HD.
insert RMN-approved joke here
1-3. I was raised in Kansas City but wasn’t real heavy into sports until high school age. Not having a family that is native to the land and thus no proper guiding force in the college sports world I was actually a bit of a beaker hoops and k-state football fan (KC locals can relate to how easy it was to fall into this trap 15 years ago). It took all of about 5 minutes after I got to Columbia to realize the huge, huge error of my previous ways and I have been repenting for my sins ever since. I started out as a hotshot direct-entry j-school kid but had to switch to comm after I had trouble adjusting to the whole “nobody is making you go to class” thing first semester (1.3 GPA). Graduated in Dec 2007 and have been floating around KC ever since working for the IRS and a company that puts on youth baseball tournaments.
4. I have no idea how I stumbled on this place. I know it was quite a while ago, though. Maybe the Vegas story?
5. No idea on this one as well. So many options but I’d have to go with maybe Norm because of how much history he’s been around for. Anybody else out there?
6. If basketball means I get to attend the whole final 4 then that’s a no-brainer. Just that game? Depends on the venue/location.
1. not an alum of Mizzou, but attended within the system (UM-St Louis)
2. Born and raised in St Louis, lived on the Coast for awhile, now in Chicago.
3. Cards, Blues and Rams, of course, along with Golden State Warriors.
4. started way back when with “Viva El BIrdos”, and was thrilled when this came up. RMN was my go-to place during the “Conference-Shift-Mind-Fuck” this past spring. You guys did a masterful job of covering that situation, and I hope you get some kind of award for it.
5. Dan Devine….he was the coach during my earliest memories of Mizzou football.
6. Football…after all these decades, winning the national title would be like winning the lottery.
I change my vote on #5 to hang out with these former Mizzou players...

Annoying You Since 1986

My own responses:
1. I actually discussed this in depth during our “Where I Come From” promotion. Long story short:
I’m Mizzou clichĂ© No. 182: The out-of-stater whose eye first caught Mizzou as a result of the Missouri School of Journalism.
2. Born in Dallas and raised in a suburb (Coppell) right outside DFW Airport. Just finished up an internship in Washington DC and am currently making the most of my final semester at Mizzou before I graduate in December.
3. As noted multiple times, I have rooting interests for Alabama and Texas A&M, from which my father and my brother graduated, respectively.
4. I was paired with Bill C. and The Beef to launch this little corner of the interweb in Oct. 2007.
5. I think I stumped myself with my own question.
6. I make no bones about the fact that I will always be a football lover and apologist first and foremost. I had contingency plans for New Orleans in 2007 had Missouri beaten Oklahoma.

Habitual lurker, occassional poster--
1. What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
Class ‘07 (yay for victory laps)
Didn’t want to come to Mizzou as an 18yr old, but its one of the best choices i’ve ever made. I love my school.
2. Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
Texas born, but have lived all over the world, lived in central MO from high school through college. Currently working in Houston as a librarian
3. For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
I was born a cowboys fan, but have latched onto the chiefs as well, having received season tickets for the chiefs while living in KC after college.
4. How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
I needed a serious Tiger sports fix and i happened to stumble upon this site.
5. You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
Brad Smith. I used to see him around the union usually at Subway, and he was so awesome that never wanted to bother him. He single -handedly made me a college football fan. In fact my first time ever watching a college football game beginning to end was his first against Illinois in 02, i think. I’ve been hooked ever since…
6. In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
Basketball. though i love football season more. I’ll put my bet on CMA— ANYDAY.
Even though Pinkel is the only Mizzou coach i’ve ever known, soi naturally am fond of him, he has disappointed me way too many times.
now that i think about it.
I’d also choose basketball, because i think despite our recent success in football, we’re really a basketball school. Plus it would be nice to have something to gloat about in basketball over the beakers. ( elite 8 runs just ring hollow with no championship yr. to fall back on…)
I disagree
having been at Mizzou during the 97-98 years and during the first years of Quin Snyder (when his recruiting outweighed his coaching) I can assure you, if we are only one (and I’m not sure we are) we are a football school.
The mania surrounding the 97 and 98 teams and the 07 teams were unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed. The entire city came alive during football Saturdays. As excited as people got for basketball, there wasn’t that same feeling of energy in my experiences.
Football always feels more energetic
but that is probably a factor of the size of the event attendance as much as anything.
I think you’re right, but I have to add that as someone who was fortunate enough to reside in CoMO during the 08 Resurrection led by JYD and co., CoMO was crazy about that hoops team. I think a lot of people had given up hope on us ever getting back to that level in basketball.
Yes, it is that long.
1. My dad is a Mizzou alum, and I grew up in Jeff City, so I was pretty much raised on Mizzou sports.
2. Born and raised in Jeff City, about to spend the semester in Sosua, DR
3. Living in Mid-Mo has provided me with the luxery of being both a Cardinals and Chiefs fan, otherwise I have a rooting interest in Texas A&M as well as LSU, and occasionally Arsenal.
4. I found Rock M during the 07 season, and I still visit daily, but I really don’t post much.
5. I would probably choose Brad Smith, although I’m not really sure how interesting drinking with Brad Smith would be, he’s Brad freaking Smith.
6. Probably basketball, I’m a little worried about everyone’s mental well being in the event that we would lose the football game.

Pathetic for RMN
1. Alum, graduated 2006. Brother went to school at Mizzou, I was raised in Springfield and there isn’t really another school to follow. Attended every home basketball/football game for five years and suffered, and subsequently now have been rewarded. Am now on second year or post-student football season tickets.
2. Born Sterling Illinois, raised in Minnesota, Missouri, and Illinois. Currently reside in a northern suburb of Chicago.
3. Minnesota Twins/Vikings, living up there, my dad was a lifelong fan, too young for ’87, but remember ’91.
4. Couldn’t get enough Mizzou coverage and my brother recommended the site for content and humor.
5. I’d probably go with Paulding, went to school at the same time, and a freak of an athlete. Also would want to know how dunking on that K-State player felt like.
6. Basketball, cause it means March Madness would be insane knowing we won every game in the tourney.
OkTiger
1. What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
‘92 Alum. My earliest memory of Mizzou sports was occasionally listening to football games on Saturday afternoon with my granddad in Joplin, MO.
2. Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
Spent my childhood in Dallas, TX then small town near Joplin, MO (Carl Junction). Currently living in Tulsa, OK
3. For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
STL Cards are my favorite non-mizzou team. I’m still a Cowboys fan. I lived in Dallas during the late 70’s when the ‘boys were great. I root for the Chiefs and Royals too. My newest sports love is the OKC Thunder. No NBA in MO, and its nice to be able to root for the same team as my co-workers and neighbors ocassionally.
4. How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
I honestly can’t remember. Been reading regularly for a long time though I rarely post.
5. You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
No doubt, Stormin’ Norman. While I was in school basketball was king and Norm was the CEO.
6. In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
Seriously, there is NO way I would miss either. I would mortgage the house, sell a lung, whatever it took. I would find a way to be at both.
For me:
1. Mizzou alum, born in state and raised as a casual fan. Enjoyed watching basketball games in the days of AP and Doug Smith, but wasn’t taught to be die-hard by any means (never went to games until my freshman year)
2. Born in raised in Troy, Missouri, about a hour northwest of STL, likely known by many of you as the last outpost of civilization before Hannibal MO.
3. When not playing them, I typically root for K-State, Iowa State and (to a lesser extent – Nebraska). For the first two, it’s mainly because they’re old Big 8ers who aren’t really powerhouses. For Nebraska, it’s because my future Brother-in-law is a Nub fan, and everything is easier if we just root for the other one’s team. After a road-trip to tOSU in college, I’ve become a bit of a Buckeye fan (though, mostly for Hockey). I’m a huge fan of Oregon T&F, because of their history. No other college teams really register, though. Pro – I love the Cards and Blues, and root for the Chiefs and Rams.
3. I had been internet friends with Bill, Beef and ZouDave for nearly 10 years on Tigerboard and when I heard they had started up a blog, I figured I’d check it out.
4. 1 figure from Mizzou HISTORY, not just living? #1 choice would probably be Mr. Devine.
My top 5 would be: Devine, Norm, Faurot, John Kadlec and Mike Shannon (he played football and baseball for Mizzou briefly, but my meal with him would not be for his Mizzou connection)
As far as why Devine? Probably the most successful of coaches to ever call Mizzou home, he was associated with Mizzou from the late 50s until the mid-90s – such a wide range of so many subjects that could be covered.
5. Basketball – while I would enjoy watching a Mizzou FB championship more, I’d enjoy the experience of the Final Four more than the BCS Championship.
Real answer – I’d save my money, watch from home and take the kids to Disney World instead.
Love the take the kids to Disney World answer :)

I reject your reality and substitute my own." ~ Adam Savage, Mythbusters
My story...
1) I’m an 04 alum, and then an 07 alum. I loved Mizzou so much I signed on for a 2nd tour I like to joke. I have been a Mizzou fan since the early 90s, when I was old enough to get into sports. My actual recollections of the early 90s basketball teams are a lot clearer than my recollections of the football teams though (which isn’t surprising for someone my age).
2) I was born and raised in Springfield, MO. I was one of the Springfieldians who thought that it was okay to root for Mizzou, and that you weren’t be a traitor to SMS in doing so. Not everyone down there has that view. I still reside in CoMO. I have officially transitioned from student to townie.
3) Besides Mizzou, I root for the Royals and Chiefs. I love baseball, and its deplorable state in KC the last 15 years saddens me. I also very casually root for the Cubs and Bears, as my wife is a Chicago area native. I follow the Cardinals relatively closely due to my general love for baseball and their predominance in the area. However, I wouldn’t say I’m a Cards fan.
4) I can’t remember exactly how I found RMN. However, I found the content and discussion to be the best available for Mizzou on the intrawebs. I have slowly cut my ties to another prominent Mizzou-based fansite due to the deterioration in commentary there, and the migration of many of my favorite posters to this site.
5) Roger Wehrli. Obviously he has a decent case as best football player from Mizzou of all time. Additionally, I would love to find out more about that era of Mizzou football from someone who had first-hand experience.
6) It would probably depend on the circumstances. If we were playing for a clear-cut national title in football (like UT and USC did in 05), then I would choose football. If the circumstances around the national title game in football were arguable, then I would probably choose hoops.
Also, it’s CRAZY that we were thisclose in football and reasonably close in basketball in back-to-back years recently. I seriously doubt I will ever have more fun during a two-season Mizzou span than I did in 07 and 08.
Read everyday, post rarely
1. Raised a fan.
2. Born and raised in Cameron, MO. Currently a student at Missouri Western in St. Joe.
3. Spend my Saturdays attending Western games. Root for the Royals and Chiefs. Became a Duke basketball fan about 10 years ago (the reason I won the Rock M Nation bracket contest). Also have a soft spot for Iowa St. football since Paul Rhoads is a Missouri Western Alum.
4. Google search, I think
5. Ben Askren and his funk
6. Basketball
Uninteresting
1. My family, despite no connections to the university until recently, has always just been fans of the Tigers.
2. Born, raised, and reside in Saint Louis, Missouri.
3. I live in Saint Louis, so I like the Cardinals and Rams along with Missouri.
4. Watched a Youtube video trying to promote the Tigers for 2008, at the end it said “Prepare for 2008 at RockMNation.com.” So that’s how I found it.
5. Brad Smith, he was electrifying.
6. I like basketball a little bit more than football, so I’d go to the basketball championship.

DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!?
1. I’m an alumnus of the best journalism school in the nation (OK, the best journalism school not named Columbia…or Syracuse…), graduating in 2008. I went because it had a great journalism school and it sounded far away.
2. I bounced around during my childhood — Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, back to Dallas — and ultimately call Big D my native and current home.
3. If you haven’t heard, I have a thing for the Texas Rangers.
4. In 2007, I went on a mission trip with my church to Peru. The goal was to help the natives, but it was the natives that helped me. After a couple of weeks earning their trust, they showed me a cave that they called “The Den of Mystery.” It was this dark hole carved in the side of a mountain, and it certainly looked mysterious: stalagmites jabbing down from the ceiling, bats routinely taking flight in and out, the pitter-patter of dripping dew. I soon went inside with the help of one of the natives, Jonah (this was a Christian community in the mountains; other missionaries had made certain of it in the 1800s, which would explain his name). The cool wind — from whence it came, I’ll never know — chilled me to the bone. Eventually, Jonah and I made it inside the depths of The Den of Mystery only to find what looked like a curious looking rock sitting on a column of limestone. It was flat and silver, with a line that bisected the rock vertically and stretched around three of its sides. Using a file, I pried the rock open; it was an ancient chest! Inside, I found three things. The first: a leaflet of paper worn by time and dust, with something scrawled on it. I still can’t read what it says, but it appears to be written in English; it starts with “Spri…”. The second thing in the ancient chest: a Bible. King James, actually. Typical of missionaries to leave something like that behind. The third thing, though, was the most remarkable: a laptop computer. How in the world did the missionaries have this kind of technology? I opened it up, and Rock M Nation opened (in Prodigy, of all things). I’ve been active ever since. Jonah was later killed in a boating accident.
Also, RPT and I are friends from high school.
5. Quin Snyder. Imagine the stories!
6. Football, and it’s not really close.

Mostly a lurker, but sometimes poster
1. Raised an MU fan. Well more accurately I was a sports fan who hooked onto the home state school because of basketball way back in the early 90’s. I am by far the biggest sports fan in my family so there was no one to point to way. Call it dumb luck. Wanted to attend MU, but i was born a poor boy and went to a directional school instead.
2. Born in St Joe. Raised in Savannah, MO. Living in Omaha, NE
3. Maybe Penn St. for CFB, but mostly just the Tigers. In pro sports I am a KC guy. Chiefs and Royals. What can I say; I am a sucker for punishment. The KC area teams probably because of location and timing. Penn State I don’t really know why….just noticed that I always stop when I come across one of their games.
4. I think I followed a link from Mizzou-Rah…I know it was a few years back. Rock M has become a daily stop for me since then.
5. I think its a tie between Norm and Corby. Norm was the man in charge of the program I first fell in love with. I had the pleasure of meeting him once in Hearns. I was there for a state BB tourney and meet him in the tunnels, that was a pretty cool moment. Corby because MU football had sucked my entire life and he helped to turn it around. Corby was the star of my first good MU FB memories. HE was by far my favorite player.
6. This is like picking between your wife or your child for me. I love both. I dont know that I could pick….
New to RMN
1. Mizzou Alum 1993-1997
2. I was born in Omaha, raised in Illinois, Memphis, and Cincinnati. Kansas City is now home. And no I wasn’t in a military family. My dad was in sales and kept getting transferred.
3. Along with Mizzou, I have obsessively followed the Chicago White Sox (2005 World Series Champs) since I was walking.
4. I think I found RMN through a Twitter Retweet.
5. An evening over drinks? Gotta be Stormin Norman, following closely by Bob Stull. Kidding of course on Bob Stull.
6. Without a doubt, I am making the pilgrimmage to the football national championship game. Sorry Coach Anderson.
nycbirdo
1. I’ll take both alum and raised as a fan. Graduated ‘03 in poli sci and journalism. Was born at Boone County Hospital in ’81 because my parents were both in grad school. So I was more or less born a Tiger fan. My sister’s an alum, too, and my brother’s there now, so the five of us have a combined eight Mizzou degrees so far, and hopefully at least one more on the way.
2. Born in Columbia, MO (see above); moved to STL when I was 1, and stayed there until returning to Mizzou for college; in ‘03, moved to New York, NY, and that’s where I am now.
3. St. Louis Cardinals (again, born and raised a fan); more or less anything involving the US national team; Arsenal; New York Red Bulls (only NY team I can imagine supporting); Kerri Walsh.
4. I was a reader and occasional poster at Viva El Birdos and Tigerboard. A+B=C.
5. So this is “one figure from Mizzou athletics history.” Doesn’t say it has to be a Mizzou player/coach.* In that case, I think I’m going with: Tyus Edney, and in particular the night of March 18, 1995, when, as a 13-year-old Mizzou basketball fan, I would be forced to engage in otherwise inappropriate amounts of underage drinking to prevent Mr. Edney from doing what he otherwise would the following day. I might have tried this with Ndamukong Suh last year instead, but, I mean, my tolerance is “very good,” not “All-Madden,” so I don’t know how much good I would have done there.
*Note: If this doesn’t fly, then, I dunno, Ian Kinsler or Aaron Crow? Or maybe Ziggy Hood, if only to discuss the amazing impression of him my younger siblings do. It’s basically Chappelle’s Rick James with a basso profundo.
6. Football. I like NCAA football better than NCAA basketball, and the atmosphere at the NCAA tourney final, in my opinion, wouldn’t be as awesome as the Mizzou fan section of the national championship bowl game. But either would be amazing.
I did have dinner and drinks with Jim Harrick once
But it was after the Edny game, and I didn’t have a time machine handy.

a little about me
1. BA (Communications), 1990; JD, 1993.
2. Born and spent most of my childhood in Charleston, Illinois. Moved to Platte City, MO at age 15 and finished high school there. Currently reside in Parkville, MO, KC’s coolest little suburb.
3. Chiefs and Royals. Location, location, location.
4. One day Bill said that something called SB Nation wanted us to merge Mizzou Sanity with a blog operated by a 19 year old kid. Mildly mortified but mostly indifferent, I said "sure." Rest is history.
5. I’ve had drinks with Norm Stewart, so I win this category.
6. I love me some football, but I’m going to have to be at the hoops final so I can write the last and best chapter for the next edition of True Sons.

lurking around ...
1. Parents were staff at MU. I went to UMR … not much sports to follow there. I grew up watching Mizzou football and basketball. Yes, I was at the 5th down game.
2. Centralia, MO … now in NC.
3. Oakland Raiders (just to piss off the KC Chief’s fans in my family). Chicago White Sox.
4. Internet search about Missouri sports. I check it out about everyday now.
5. Norm Stewart (with Corby Jones being a close second)
6. Football. Just soooo tired of MIZZOU seemingly being screwed over in football, it would just make it that much more enjoyable for MIZZOU to win a championship in that sport.
This is new
1. Graduated from the J School in 09.
2. I’m a Chicago-an ‘til Chicago ends ’til we blow like Chicago wind (major props if you know that reference).
3. White Sox and Bulls. Local obviously.
4. I wrote a story for Vox Magazine about the site and have been reading ever since.
5. Being I was at Mizzou the same 4 years as Chase, I want to say Chase Daniel but I’ve met him and shook his hand. Mike Anderson is such a cool customer and considering where the program is now compared to my first home game as a student (loss to Sam Houston State) I have a ton of respect for him.
6. It would probably depend on the teams (cop out I know). If ‘07 won the Big 12 title game, I’d almost literally have killed to be at the national title game for them. In the future I’d probably say basketball because I’ve always leaned that way.
Haha I know too many posters on here.
Chase and his girl post graffiti party was hilarious. Pickleman’s is always win
Also a first-time poster
1. I am a current mechanical engineering student, set to graduate this May (2011).
2. Born and raised in STL. Live in CoMo for school and ATL for breaks (parents moved when I graduated HS).
3. The obvious Cards, Blues, Rams. K-State when we aren’t playing them (especially when they play kansas) cause my sister goes there.
4. Was on SLGT, the Blues SBNation blog, and made my way over.
5. Well, everyone else is saying Norm Stewart, so I’ll be a little different and go with Brad Smith. He was the first player I remember watching regularly.
6. I would probably say football, but how I would want to rub b-ball in kansas’ face.
IT'S A TARP!!!

I'm your classic lurker. Read the site everyday, but this is my first time posting.
1. Mizzou Alum. Graduated in 2003. My wife is also an alum from 2004.
2. Born and raised in Nevada, MO (saw someone else on here was also). Currently live in St. Charles, MO.
3. Mizzou is the one and only college team. I am a KC Royals diehard mainly because I was cursed by location.
4. Stumbled onto RoyalsReview one day and started looking around.
5. Jeff Hafer. Why not?
6. Got to go football because of the build up and festivities that surround the game. I had a hotel room booked in NOLA until my heart was broken by the boomers in the Alamo Dome. Although if we went in the same year I would probably raid my retirement account.

What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
i attended mizzou from 91-95 and 96-99. even managed to accrue a couple of degrees in that time. i also used to work for campus rec for most of that time as an intramural ref/supervisor/grad asst/director. actually worked with the tailgate queen and bill c among other notable im luminaries. fun times
Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
i lived in joplin thru high school. lived in colorado for the last 10 years, currently in centennial.
For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
my wife is a buckeye, so i have been co-opted into that crazy bunch. i grew up a cards fan, but now follow the rockies since i get to see them play every day. i always hope that mssu does well, like that ever happens.
How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
probably saw a link on tigerboard some time during the 07 fb season
You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
i’ve also had a beer with stormin norman and would do it again. very funny dude
In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
football. then i’ll win the lottery before march. problem solved!
First post. Been reading for a couple of years.
1. Grew up in mid-Missouri. My fandom really started with the early 90s bball teams: D. Smith, Peeler, and company. I always wanted to attend, but my family moved to Arkansas when I was in Junior High. Couldn’t justify the out of state tuition, so I ended up at the U of A. Never could make myself a Hog fan even though I spent 6 yrs in school at Fayetteville from 00-06.
2. Born in Jefferson City and raised in Chamois, MO. I currently live in central Arkansas.
3. I follow the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chiefs (been a tough stretch), along with Mizzou. If nascar counts, I’m a big Mark Martin fan.
4. Ran across some of the early ‘What If’ posts from one of the earlier blogs. I think it was Mizzou Sanity. Eventually the page directed me to Rock M Nation. I have been more or less a daily visitor since the 08-09 basketball season.
5. I’ll take Melvin Booker. That 94 team was who really hooked me. I was lucky enough to be at the final conference game vs. Nebraska. Won’t ever forget that.
6. Basketball. I was a bball fan first.

2. Born and raised in St. Charles, MO and now in the BIg D.
3. i try to keep up with the Cards and Rams as much as possible, but probably follow Tottenham Hotspur FC of the EPL the closest. (My girlfriend made me get an SMU polo for the upcoming season, so we’ll see how that goes. At least they have the Boulevard).
4. I was turned on to RockM by a co-worker in the admission office a couple of years ago.

Frequent Reader, Infrequent Poster
1) I’m a Mizzou alumni. Bachelor of Journalism, ‘07. But I’ve been a fan for just about as long as I can remember.
2) I was born in Shawnee Mission, KS (which I don’t like to admit readily). Raised in Independence, MO prior to the meth heyday and then the Parkville area in NKC for high school (Go Park Hill Trojans!). After graduating from Mizzou, I returned to the Parkville area and still call that home.
3) As a Kansas City boy, I’ve always been a huge Chiefs fan. I wasn’t really into baseball until my later years, but I’ve always rooted for the Royals (it hurts so good). Once I realized they were probably never going to win a Series in my lifetime, I chose the Red Sox for a backup because I dig curses (this was prior to their 2004 Series win).
4) I actually didn’t know about Rock M during my time enrolled at Mizzou, which saddens me. I really wish I had been around to read some of the articles that were posted during the ‘07 season! I can’t remember who exactly, but one of my fellow alums turned me on to it. Now I can’t get enough. I check the site at least 3-4 times a day.
5) I’d have to go with Norm Stewart. I’m more of a football fan, but his love for the University is unmatched, in my opinion. Even before I was a fan of Mizzou, I was a hater of kU and I’ve always been fascinated by the fact that Norm would refuse to spend a dime in the state of Kansas if he could help it. This is a tradition that I for one still try to follow.
6) I’d have to go with football, just because I prefer the sport. But really, I’d just be happy with the opportunity to choose. Can we make this happen, please? Perhaps someone out there has a magic genie lamp or some other way to make wishes? Maybe we could sacrifice some animals or drop $1 million worth of coinage in a fountain somewhere?

1. Mizzou alum
2. Born and raised in Blue Springs, MO., now living in Estacada (suburb of Portland), OR
3. Of course a fan of all KC teams but also a budding Oregon Ducks fan (don’t throw anything!). A buddy needed help with his Ducks season tickets two years ago, and well, I’m now a Ducks season ticket holder (but they’ll never replace my Tigers!).
4. Found RMN while trying to find more and better Mizzou info during the amazing 2007 football season.
5. Jon Sundvold. Great Mizzou star, Mizzou sports history expert, from my hometown, always went to see him at BSHS games with my Dad when I was a kid. He could hit from anywhere. Therefore, one of my childhood heroes.

1. Married into a local family, moved here in 2005 – now I cover the MU for my sports show (The Closers on KFRU)
2. Born – Ohio
Raised – Texas
Lived – Louisiana, Oregon and now Columbia, Missouri.
3. I also follow Ohio State football (Dad was in the band), Houston Astros, the Sleepy Floyds (my fantasy football team).
4. I found RMN when I was stumbling home from the MU/Nebraska game in 2007. I was walking along Stadium towards West Blvd. when I fell into a ditch close to the trail tunnel and banged my head on a rock. I woke up at dawn, reeking of deer urine and dried blood. I looked down at the rock on which I hit my head, and was overcome by the urge to see what was under it. I used a dead branch and a hubcap as a fulcrum to pry the rock from it’s muddy purchase. As the rock began to budge, a beam of dazzling white light shot across the glade, blinding several raccoons who had gathered for a morning meal. When, at last, I overturned the stone, I fell to my knees, weeping at the sight of the Rock M Nation. The rest, as they say, is history.
5. Thunder Matt Lawrence (The Grey Goose) – there is no need to explain the logic of this choice.
6. I think I would choose the Football Championship game.

Sharing an evening around a keg . . .
. . . with the two of you would be well worth the time and money.
Everyday reader - rarely post
1. Alumnus – Mechanical Engineering ‘92. Witnessed some forgettable football as a student, but the games were so freaking fun anyway. Many times said “if we ever again have a decent football team…” well now we do! Those years were outstanding for basketball, though. Doug Smith, Anthony Peeler, Nathan Buntin, etc. Man did we have some players.
2. Born & raised in Springfield (MO). Reside today in Lee’s Summit, MO.
3. StL Cardinals and KC Chiefs. Although since moving to KC after college I would have been and still would be ready to jump on board with the Royals. I would love to experience living in KC during a pennant run. My three kids have no idea what it’s like to follow winning baseball. Loved baseball from the beginning and the Cardinals get all the coverage in Springfield. The Chiefs were good when I moved to KC after college. Super game atmosphere and great tailgating, etc.
4. Don’t really remember how I came across RMN, but I do remember being very pleased with and bookmarked it right away. Have been reading RMN ever since. Love the perspective (rooting interest, but not complete homerism usually) and really appreciate the lack of the idiotic back-and-forth b.s. between rival posters.
5. Norm. I wish there could be a way to take a little bit of Norm’s fire and passion for Mizzou and feed it to every athlete upon enrolling at school. Seriously, if the athletic department doesn’t already have some kind of an informal “Mizzou Athletics 101” course that they make every incoming athlete take, they could start by replaying an interview w/ Norm. I would love to hear the unedited stories about his hatred for kU and his experiences as a student, player and coach.
6. Hmm. I would have to choose football. Seems like a bit more glory associated w/ football than basketball. Also, football games are about 3 hours long while basketball games are 2 hours (except for Big East games on Monday). I’ll take 3 hours of first-hand nat’l championship watching over 2 for sure.
Am I the first non-alum?
I know I’m the first of something else!
What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
Married a Tiger fan who also did not attend Mizzou.
Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
Born in KCMO, my formative years in Big D & came back to KC for school. Am here for life as we both own our own businesses.
For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
I grew up a Cowboys fan & was a fan during their Super Bowl years. When I moved to KC in ‘97, a friend of mine took me to a Chiefs game & I was done. Renounced Cowyboy fandom and became a Chiefs fan. Met my spouse at a tailgate and we are season ticket holders.
How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation? 07 season & became an active member in during the 08-09 bball season. I have a bit of an addictive personality & this place is pretty much my go-to website.
You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why? Mike Anderson because he’s awesome.
In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
Umm – I would beg, borrow & steal to be at both. But probably football.
Whoever said, 'It's not whether you win or lose that counts,' probably lost.

My first post, let's keep this brief
1. Alum – ’03
2. Born and raised in St. Joseph, live in Washington, DC
3. Royals (1985), Chiefs (Christian Okoye), Nats (because the Royals stink…the Nats have not helped), Caps (geography), Georgetown (grad school)
4. I think it was the visiting lecturer series on EDSBS a couple of years ago (http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2008/06/25/visiting-lecturer-rock-m-nation-on-missouri/)
5. I really have no strong feelings. Maybe Dwayne Blakely because we played little league baseball together and that was pretty much the high water mark of my athletic career
6. Football, no contest

i got nuthin
Present?
1. I am an alum of 2005. Funny thing, my mom went to Nebraska-Omaha and when I was a child thought that gave me an allegiance to Nebraska (even though I lived in Missouri). So I was a huge Husker football fan, you could find me wearing red and white at Farout in 1997) but then I attended the University of Missouri and let’s just say it was all over from there. I always had a small interest in the Tigers but going there and becoming immersed in it. Let’s just say I don’t take fandom lightly and I’ve got all my chips in for all Mizzou athletics.
2. Born in St. Louis, raised in Sedalia, now reside in Midland, TX
3. Cardinals (see birthplace), Blues, and Miami Dolphins. Why the phins? My mom said I liked them as long as I have been picking out sports clothes for Christmas out of catalogs. No idea how it started.
4. I’m pretty sure I found the National Rock of M in the summer/fall of 2006. I think I found a link on Tigerboard and visit multiple times every day from my work computer, home computer and phone. It’s my main source of all things Mizzou and gives me a lot of things to bring up in arguments (mostly against Tech fans)
5. Norm, and I’ve actually sat here and tried to pick somebody else. But really, who else spans so many generations of Tigers and is as passionate about it as him.
6. This is tough, I’m a much bigger college basketball fan, but this football stuff is starting to wear on me. Football seems like it would be a rarer occasion the way things with basketball seem to be headed, plus I go back to Armageddon in 07 and can’t think of anything that tops that atmosphere….but….I’d have to go with basketball…I think…but it’s really close. I think I get more attached to the basketball team because you can follow them all year and still have hope of a national championship. 1 loss in football and it’s pretty much lost for a school like Mizzou. So basketball…
hello interweb friends.
1. Everyone in my family goes to Mizzou, thats just how it is.
2. Born and raised North of KC in Platte City
3. Cards, Chiefs, Toledo Rockets for no real reason
4. A google image search in ‘08 of Chase Daniel I think
5. Probably CMA or Rucker
6. Gotta be Football. I’ve gone to every home game since ’02
Great Odin's Raven I love Mike "The Predator" Dixon!
RMN's fourth football season already? wow!
1. Alum ‘07, born and raise in Jeff City, hometown of Godzilla and 12-gage. And how fitting is it that my first Mizzou basketball memory is listening to Tyus Edny’s shot on the radio. sigh.
2. See above, now live in KC area (I shudder to say on the KS side) since graduation.
3. Typically Mid-Missouri Chiefs/Cardinals fan. The 2004 Cardinals team sucked me in and have been hooked since then.
4. I can’t really remember, but I guess it’s somehow through VEB, since I’ve been over there longer.
5. Mike Anderson seems like he could tell stories for hours on end (each of them, of course, mentioning every player on the team)
6. Bought Final Four tickets before the ‘03-’04 basketball season (preseason #5), and.. yeah, we missed the tourney. Great experience. Went to the FF in STL (UNC over Illini) the following year. Definitely the basketball.
"I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order. Like they should be."

1) Student from 2003-2005
2) born and raised Southside of Chicago
3) Chicago Bears (season ticket holder), White Sox (parents met on a bus trip to opening day), Bulls (child of the 90s), Blackhawks (roenick, chelios, amonte), Cardinals (living in MO and hating Cubs)
4) fellow tiger told me about Rock M Nation
5) being a high school basketball coach i would love to pick Norm Stewart’s brain
6) Basketball is my first love
1) Alum 05’ Biology/Environmental Studues
2) Born North Carolina, Raised Iowa/Illinois, Currently live in Hawaii
3) St. Louis Cardinals because of my 8 years in Missouri, US soccer (raised playing soccer), and Fulham (becasue they have Dempsey)
4) SBNation- I read vivaelbirdos.com first and found my way over
5) Don Faurot for historical reasons, Justin Gage, Sean Weatherspoon, or TJ Soyoye for entertainment value
6) Wow. I’d love to say both, but I guess football wins by a nose.

Here we go.
1. PhD ’08 , but by way of wife, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and grandmother-in-law (all alumns) it seems I was raised as a fan, as I get stories from a pretty big span of MU lore.
2. Born in Michigan (hence my undeniable love of fullbacks), lived in Florida, then eastern part of Washington state for most of my life. Went to undergrad in Montana, went to Mizzou, now live in Seattle for the last year and a half.
3. Pro-football, the Dolphins and the Chiefs. I grew up near the former and my wife is from KC hence the later. Highly dislike the Fight’in Carrols.
NCAA; I have always rooted for the Wolverines, they are my dads team but Mizzou was the first college team that got me to become a sports fanatic.
I had always been a fan of the Mariners (grew up in WA, see above) but due to the wife I now follow the Royals. Their similarities make it very easy to do this. May we all wish we had the grit of one Willie Bloomquist, the world would be better for it.
4. I got tired of always searching StLPD and KCstar by myself reading everything, and I think I saw something on RMN in the comments section of StLPD. It was the fall of ‘07, but I didn’t start posting until moving away from CoMo.
5. I know he’s been listed previously but that does not sway my choice. Dan Devine. He installed the power-I for a bowl game. Just decided to start it, you know, for fun. My inner-child-Wolverine-fan would probably shit-bricks.
6. Though my wife has really gotten me into Mizzou basketball and I am absolutely excited about what CMA has done at the school so far, I still would rather travel to a Football NC. I would wager that could end with tears in my eyes, win or lose.

Lurk everyday, seldom post.
1. 2005 Alum
2. Born and raised in Cape Girardeau, currently live in the same. My parents are SEMO alums, but I fell in love with Tiger basketball in the early 90s and always visited family friends in Columbia during football season. Knew from a young age I was headed there for school.
3. STL Cards. My dad’s from St. Louis and put a cards hat on me at age 1.
4. A friend introduced me to it after he found the SB Nation platform. Was hooked after spending hours trying to figure out Bill’s BTBS calculations. Still don’t know what the hell is going on.
5. Norm, without question.
6. Football. Despite college basketball being my favorite sport traditionally, Mizzou’s renaissance has me leaning more toward football these days. That and I think there is much more parity in basketball such that a trip to the football MNC game would be a much bigger “can’t miss” for me.
---
1. Raised as a fan by my dad, am currently a senior in the J-School.
2. Born and raised in StL, now live in Columbia, MO.
3. I don’t really follow the NBA but the Nuggets are my team because Linas Kleiza played there for a while, and they sort of just stuck. Other college teams – I like Utah, TCU for football and any underdog not named ku or duke in basketball.
4. Saw some posts on Tigerboard about Rock M, checked it out, and I’ve been reading for a while now. Never posted – yes, I was a gasp! lurker, but I have now crawled out of my cave.
5. I would have to go with Martin Rucker or Laurence Bowers. Those are my boys
6. Both. I’d split the cost with a hot girl, and then let her sit on my lap for both games. Hmm that was a little creepy for a first post, huh? Hopefully you all will still be my interwebz friendz..
Now now now here's a guy that when he sprints he runs FASTER!

The 2010 Missouri Football Preview - Available Now!
roll call
1) Alum (J-School 2003)
2) Union, Missouri (now known for giving kU the nefarious Jordan Webb…) is where I grew up. I live in Chesterfield, MO now with my Tiger wife and future Tiger son.
3) St Louis Cardinals (I love them as much as I love breathing), St Louis Blues (damn you Bill Laurie), and, wait for it, the Philadelphia Eagles! The football Cardinals moved to Phoenix when I was 8 and it broke my heart. I adopted the Eagles as my favorite team because I liked Randall Cunningham.
4) I found out through the nerdiest avenue: the guy who founded SBNation is the brother of CliffyB, the creator of Gears of War.
5) This is easy: Anthony Peeler. Damn I love 44. Followed closely by Roger Wehrli.
6) The basketball teams of the 80’s are when I fell in love with Mizzou, so as much as I revel in the golden days of Mizzou Football that we are living through, nothing makes me happier than seeing the basketball team do well. My wife got her Master’s just so we could continue to get the all sports pass.
Xbox Live gamertag and PSN gamer id: jhevans51. Send me a friend request if you like shooters or sports games (I’m assuming most everyone here, lol).
"gotta get me a little oblivion, baby"
This should be interesting
1. I’m a Husker fan, and Mizzou has become one of our more serious rivals. I was raised to hate the Tigers for costing us half of a national title in 1997.
2. Born and raised in Minden, Nebraska. I’m currently a Junior at UNL, so naturally, I live in Lincoln.
3. I’m a Husker, through and through.
4. Through linkage on Corn Nation. You guys run an excellent blog, and I love some of the features you have on here. From the (extremely biased) wisdom of the fans prediction, to the very thorough statistical breakdowns RMN provides. I’ll still be reading this site after we move to the Big 10.
5. Chase Daniel. I’d spike his drink with some sort of diarrhetic. :P
6. Football. Even if it was the Tigers, if I had the tickets and happened to be in the right city, the environment of a national title game has to be wild.

1.) Born and Raised a University of Missouri Fan. Graduate of Missouri Southern State University.
2.) Born and Raised in Kansas City, MO and Currently reside in Bowling Green, KY (WKU Territory)
3.) Bears, Chiefs, Royals, Padres and Tampa Bay Rays.
Bears- Firts sports job was in Chicago and default position is to root on DA Bears
Chiefs- What’s not to love about growing up spending Sundays at Arrowhead?
Royals- Will always be a true blue fan.
Padres and Tampa bay Rays- Have worked or currently work for their minor league affiliates.
4.) Found Rock M Nation just playing on the interwebs one evening. Have been a loyal follower ever since.
5.) Truman the Tiger, I figured Norm would need a night off after dinner with over half the respondents.
6.) Football hands down. Basketball is more fun to watch from home.

Roll Call
1. I graduated from Mizzou in 2007
2. Born in St. Louis, but my family immediately moved to Dallas; Currently living in Philadelphia
3. Rangers, Mavericks and Cowboys
4. Found Rock M through reading Lonestarball on SBNation
5. I think I would have the most fun hanging with T-Ruck for an evening
6. Football for sure
Definitely a Lurker....
1. Senior at MU majoring in English and Philosophy.
2. Born in St. Luke’s Hospital, KCMO. Raised in Brookside and have always been a fan. Now I live in Columbia during my time in school.
3. The Chiefs and Royals, obviously. Because there’s no pro basketball I’ve become a fan of the Suns for whatever reason: Nash, Stoudemire (though he’s gone now) etc. And, of course, the USA in anything like the World Cup, etc. Also a big Nadal fan for tennis.
4. Stumbled upon it while searching for good MU articles online. Realized it was exactly along my lines of sports thoughts/interest: aka, fighting the general idiotic fan and media mentality.
5. Quinn Synder just because it would be the most ridiculous time I imagine. I always picture him in a seedy strip club these days.
6. The question assumes I live in a reality in which this situation could somehow occur. Luckily, unless they scheduled them on the same day at the same time, there would be no way I could only afford one. Even if they cost me another private loan, a bike ride to Florida, California, or wherever, and an added year of college, I would witness—in person—both events.
The only 6 pack I didn't crush against my forehead...
1. BA ’93.
2. Born and raised at my house, now living in Seattle (which sucks and I hate all things Seattle. Screw coffee, the sports teams all suck especially UW, and I hate liberals).
3. Vikings because I got an old Vikings “letter jacket” as a kid, and the Twins because when it came time to piss my dad off and give up the Yankees, the Twins were the WORST team in baseball. It all worked out good.
4. I think I was looking for free inside info on recruiting. Google-fu, thank you!
5. Paul Christman, because he was a pimp long before there were pimps. And, I want to get his autograph.
6. Football, because we have a greater likelihood of going again in basketball, if they can just keep the damn coach here.
"When among evil companions, try to fit in." - Wild Bill Donovan
oops!
Almost forgot for #5… I did have “drinks with” a MU player… that is, Mike Sandbothe, his sister and a whole bunch of other people including me were drinking in the stands at the MU-CU rematch game that we lost 0-6.
"When among evil companions, try to fit in." - Wild Bill Donovan
I had drinks with Brian Grawer and Ryan Kiernan at Les Bourgeois one day
I’m sure they were probably happy when I left, as I was TRASHED, but they were great sports about me coming over and bothering them for a while.
First roll call as an alum
1. Graduated in December 2009, Finance and Econ dual emphasis
2. Born: Chicagoland
Raised: Clevelandland
Lived: St. Louisland and currently Topeka. Meh.
3. I’m a 3rd generation Cubs fan and know way too much about them. Other (much lesser) rooting interests include the Cavaliers, Chiefs, and I suppose Michigan State
4. I don’t even remember. I’m very, very glad I did find it though.
5. I’d like to discuss Walden Pond with Sheldon Richardson.
6. I think it has to be football. I love them both, but I think the atmosphere has to be a little better at a BCS bowl than at the Final Four.

Still here.
1. My parents met at Mizzou in the 60s, so obviously I was raised right. I didn’t do my undergrad here (Truman State FTW), but I just finished up my MPA and started law school in good old Columbia, MO.
2. I was born and raised in Independence, Missouri, with a 4 year visit to Kirksville, and now I live in Columbia. This created the bizarre fact that I attended 3 successive schools named Truman (Truman High School, Truman State University, and the Truman School of Public Affairs at Mizzou)
3. Being from KC, I’m obviously a Chiefs and Royals fan. I’ve recently adopted the New Orleans Saints (I needed a pro football team that didn’t suck, and of course Chase plays there now). I don’t follow much else. I do own an Arsenal jersey, but frankly I haven’t ever followed the EPL.
4. I’m not sure. I think I got here via ZouDave’s videos, actually. When I was working a Congressional campaign in 2008, they were my 10 minute “shut myself in my office so I don’t murder someone” breaks.
5. I’m really not sure, so I guess I’ll go with Norm or Devine by default.
6. Football. I love watching Mizzou basketball, but this place will always be first and foremost about football for me.
Side note: Mizzou is absolutely a football school. We’ve been at it and had competitive streaks for a lot longer (basketball was a joke until Norm), and two of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport coached here. There aren’t Columbia traditions built around basketball games (goalposts to Harpo’s, for example).
Making fun of the "Mizzou Needs a Fullback" Club since...well, for a while, anyway.
I'm sorry, but...
Mizzou is absolutely a football school.
You could have definitely made that argument in the 60’s or 70’s, but do you really want to argue that now, in 2010? Basketball’s what kept this school’s athletic department going through all the football program’s struggles in the 80’s and 90’s, so while Mizzou’s basketball tradition might not be as old as it’s football tradition, I’d say that at this point the two programs are in perfect balance, both in competitive history and modern prestige.
There’s room for both sports to be successful in the same athletic department, and we’re living proof of that.

I'm guessing the comment is based on
the way the school and community reacts to and yearns for success from the respective programs, NOT which one actually delivers that success.
I meant that too
I’d say Mizzou basketball gets plenty of community response and support. It’s not UNC levels, obviously, but it’s not like they have anything else.
But this is a debate for another thread.
Maybe I’ll start one once I figure out how the Fanpost interface works.

1. I was raised a MIZZOU fan! I also graduated from MIZZOU in 2008 and 2010.
2. I was born and raised in the upper Northwestern corner of Missouri, around a bunch of lowly huskers and hawkeyes. I currently live in Columbia.
3. I root for the Chiefs and Royals b/c KC was closer than StL to my hometown. I’m starting to follow the Cardinals more though.
4. I’ve been following you guys even before Rock M Nation. I got on Mizzou Sanity and read your stuff, and then transitioned to RMN.
5. Don Faurot would be my choice. It would be interesting to learn about his time at MIZZOU.
6. I would definitely have to go with the Football game. The whole football game-day experience would be amazing!

3.Baltimore Ravens, I’m from MD. the Royals, parents from KC.
4. Zou Crew and Tiger’s Lair sponsorships.
5. This is a tough one, but I’d go with Norm Stewart.
6. Well, I’d like to choose bball, but the arenas that they play them in are so ridiculously oversized, that the in-game experience could never match a BCS championship game.

2. I hail from Sedalia, MO but currently live in Columbia
3. I root for the Cardinals, Chiefs, Bulls and a few other teams. I root for them because those are the teams I fell in love with as a kid.
4. Being a member of Tiger’s Lair last year they sent out a weekly email and it included "Getting to know your Opponent"
5. CMA because he resurrected our basketball program.

Hello again everyone.
1. My brother attended MU from 1990 to 1994 before moving on to Knoxville to UT for grad school. He is now a Vols fan for football and Tiger fan for basketball. I, however, remained committed to MU even though I did not attend. Something about the pain and misery of being a Missouri fan that I could identify with I think.
2. Born in Harrisburg, Illinois. Raised in Zeigler, Illinois. Currently reside in Jefferson City, MO.
3. I have been a Cardinals fan (baseball) since I was a baby. Otherwise, I had a small infatuation with Georgetown while in grade school. This KC matchup with GU this year will be awesome.
4. I honsetly can’t remember.
5. Norm Stewart.
6. Basketball for sure (until they institute a playoff in football).
here be I
1. Came here for one thing and ended up with a grad degree in another field. Man United are the team of my birth (hence genetically wired in through some weird Lamarckian evolutionary thing), the Leafs were the team I moulded around in my early sports watching years, and I imprinted on the tigers when I came here and started watching college sports. So I pretty much acquire teams like moss on a rolling stone. Except I’m more of a “flown-around-on-airplanes stone”, even if it is less poetic). Not having being here as an undergrad, and not having cable teevee, RMN is actually pretty central to my tigers fandom .
2. Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
Manchester, Toronto, and now Columbia.
3. For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
Man U, the Leafs, and I generally feel positively towards other Toronto sports in a passive sort of way.
4. How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
Exactly like ghtd36, except the chest I opened also had some spoons in it with suggestively shaped handles. My cave was apparently in a naughtier part of the world.
5. You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
Hoch. He sounds like a nice guy with some smarts to him.
6. In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
The Leafs Stanley cup final clinching game :)
eh… I guess I’m going with football because the crowds are much bigger and more likely to do something memorable like pull the goalposts down.
Good morrow gentlemen
1. Raised a fan, and hope to one day be a student.
2. Born in Columbia, moved around a bit, but now I live in Blue Springs.
3. Chiefs, Cardinals, and Iowa football. I just love BHGP
4. After the KU basketball win in 08, ESPN did a Missouri link thing, of which Rock M Nation was one.
5. Blaine Dalton. Uhh.. Kim English
6. Definitely football

1. Became a fan as a student, class of 2000 (more or less)
2. Born and raised in SW CT (basically suburban NYC) and now live in St. Charles, MO
3. Mets in baseball, as my father was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan before becoming a Mets fan. Jets in football because of my father. New Jersey Devils in hockey because of Gary Thorne being their announcer in the 80’s (and also being the Mets radio guy) and pro basketball bores me. Raised a Penn State fan in football because of relatives who went there and was a UCONN fan in basketball.
4. Um…had some inside knowledge about where to find it
5. Brock Olivo, so we can catch up from over the past few years
6. Football, but I’d never have to make that choice.

I'd hate me too if I was a Leafs fan :-)
Honestly the most perfect game I remember watching on TV was the night the Devils beat the Leafs 3-0 to clinch the series while allowing 6 shots…for the game :-) Defense at its finest.

RE: Gary Thorne and the Mets
I used to stay up late and listen to baseball games on the radio smuggled under my pillow so my mom wouldn’t catch me. The Sox games didn’t come in (and I was a Yanks fan at the time), so I would tune in the Mets. I remember hearing Gary Thorne mark out when Strawberry hit the roof of Expos Stadium, or something like that.

1. Raised in the right way by my Mizzou alum parents.
2. Born in Overland Park, moved to Minnesota for undergrad, currently in Ames, Iowa for graduate school.
3. Long-suffering fan of the Royals and Chiefs.
4. Don’t even remember now, probably found it via Royals Review.
5. Mike Anderson, to thank him for bringing Missouri basketball back from the abyss.
6. Basketball, I love football but nothing beats the basketball national championship.
Now with profile picture and signature!
Can we include ZouDave's sister in our 'who you want to drink with?' criteria?
Former Mizzourah.net asshat. Have you had a glass of VICTORY WHISKEY today?
West Coast representative
1. MU alum (History 1989), also raised as a fan and attended FB & BB games since I was young and get to at least one per year now (was in Reno last year, in KC 2007 & 2008)
2.Born in Creve Coeur, Mo. (moved to Columbia an as infant – left after college.) Live in San Francisco.
3.Mostly I hate all teams other than Mizzou. I would like to see Cal do better (beat USC) since I live in the Bay Area. Became a Tennessee Titan fan while in Nashville (they were my client) and having Justin Gage there helps keep them one of my favorites. Like Chiefs, Rams, Cardinals and Royals (in that order) when they are good.
4.Probably found Rock M through Tigerboard, about 2 years ago.
5.Mike Alden. I have a million good ideas that need to be implemented rightaway.
6.That’s a silly question. I would go to both whether I could afford it or not would never be an issue. That said, I’d prefer the NCAA tourney because winning the championship would be immediate. With the BCS, still a chance some goofy poll would be a killjoy and chose someone else #I. That said, I’d still rather win the national championship in football first because I think it’s a tougher journey. I’d settle for a season good enough for the Fiesta Bowl.
Roll call? OK!
1. Alum, raised as a fan. I remember Brewer Field House and chanting “Stipo Stipo we want you, Stipo Stipo let’s go Mizzou” in Jeff City when i was a young fan.
2. Born in BoCoMo, raised in mid-MO, living in CoMO
3. Always liked MU and Iowa State (they are quite friendly partiers). Then the Chiefs, just to have a local pro football team to cheer for.
4. I admit it, I’m a camp follower! I just tagged along with a few folks I’ve known for a while, although I’m pretty quiet over here.
5. Give me Norm, cause I have a thing for cranky old men. Well, that and the fire and passion that he has for the game and the fact that in his time college basketball was full of characters and was less about the business side. Second choice would be Don Faurot, just for a historical perspective into a time i wasn’t around.
6. BASKETBALL. Unless we’re playing USC in football, because we’d have one hell of a family party for that matchup.
You mean Hearnes, right?
Stipo was from 79-82 and Hearnes opened in 1972. Or, are you referring to something other than a game (pep rally or something?)
Nope, I meant Brewer.
Not the best sentence structure though. I attended basketball games in Brewer. Folks were in the old tail twisters group that started there. After moving to Hearnes, the group used to travel to support the team, and one of those trips was to JC – recruiting Stipo. They liked having me along because I had a really big mouth.
There are only a dozen or so of the tail twisters still around these days.
Ah, yes, Brewer Field House was such fun . . .
. . . especially during indoor track season when half the 220-yard track was through a tunnel under the east stands.
It was so closed in, though, that we could really make it rock when the jaybirds came a-callin’.
this is so cool !

1. Raised as a fan, alum, work at MU (the J-school, in case the handle doesn’t give it away.
2. Born in Marshall, then raised in Nevada (Mo.), graduated high school in Blue Springs, went to Mizzou, went to North Carolina, now back in Columbia.
3. North Carolina, vaguely. Went to a Tar Heel game in 04 or 05 and watched them get spanked by Louisville. Of course the next week they upset Miami. Picked the wrong game. Otherwise … the Chiefs, to the extent I can stand pro football.
4. I don’t honestly remember. I think maybe Dave Matter linked to you once?
5. Norm. Because, Norm. And I’ve seen him get tipsy at a few TSF events.
6. Football.

2. Born in Des Moines, IA….lived and raised in Unionville, MO for 22 of my 23 years and currently living there but hopefully soon will be taking a transfer job at HyVee in Columbia.
3. Cardinals fan because I just like their style, Chiefs fan because of my grandparents, Bulls fan because of my dad, Blues because of my fraternity brothers, and Manchester United because I adopted them as my futbal team.
4. Believe I found it on TigerBoard….
5. Kimmie English is who I would like to spend a night out with….he’s just so smooth, we’d have the ladies eating out of our hands.
6. Basketball is my first love, so a National Championship game in bball it is….

1. Mizzou Student – Junior, Education Major
2. Born and raised in Saint Louis, South County area (Mehlville)
3. When I was ten years old I decided I loved college football, and picked a favorite team at that time. That was the Miami Hurricanes. It’s all about the U!! I was dead set on attending Miami until about freshman year of high school when I realized it was a $40,000 a year private school. I still follow the U daily, but not nearly as much as I follow Mizzou nowadays. Also a die hard Cardinals and Rams fan.
4. I had read a couple of articles but the “You never know” article from the morning of the Memphis game gave me the chills for at least a half hour. I love this site so much now that I get @RockMNation tweets sent directly to my phone via text messages.
5. Kim English. So I can tell him all about my man crush him. I’m kidding. But seriously…
6. I’d have to say football. I’ve been lucky enough to go to a Superbowl (’99 Rams) and a national title game (UNC v. Illinois in STL). As amazing as that basketball game was, I think that a football national championship game would be like an out of body experience for me.

2. Born and raised in Sikeston, MO (home of Lambert’s Cafe), live in Columbia now
3. Cardinals, Rams, Blues, Duke, OKC Thunder (solely because of my giant mancrush on Kevin Durant), anyone who’s playing a Big 10 team or kansas
4. No idea.

5. Kleiza, just to hear the true story with Snyder
6. Basketball. Can’t beat the NCAA tournament.

1. My grandparents on my mother’s side were hardcore Mizzou fans and made sure that, despite the fact that I grew up on the other side of the Atlantic, I was decked out in black & gold from the day I was born. When I graduated high school back in ‘00, I didn’t apply to any other colleges. And now I’m back there again, currently pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Engineering.
2. That’s a tough question for me, actually… I was born in Amsterdam, went to preschool in Charlotte, NC, went to elementary school through junior high in Castricum, Noord-Holland, then went to high school (go Kewps!) and college in Columbia. After trying Omaha for less than six months, I moved back to CoMo and am still here.
3. I’m as much a 3rd generation St. Louis Cardinals fan as I’m a 3rd generation Tigers fan. For the NFL, it’s a toss-up between the Chiefs and Vikings. In International Soccer, it’s Oranje all the way (Spain can suck it). And, finally, I may not know all the words to either of my national anthems, but I sure as hell know all the words to this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Khokx5p0-bQ
4. I might risk starting a flame-war here, but I actually found sbnation through a shout-out by one of it’s founders, Markos Moulitsas (of dKos fame). After reading a few of Bill C.‘s previews and discovering that sports-writing could be well-written, insightful, and math-obsessed, I was hooked.
5. As much as I enjoy the emotional highs and lows of sports, I’m not sure I’d ever get actually get along with anyone directly involved in it. So instead I’ll just have a drink with my friends and family, who are as big a part of Mizzou sports history for me as anyone.
6. Basketball, because THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

Who I am...
1 & 2. Grew up in Columbia and still live here.
3. Cardinals (loved listening to Jack Buck), Chiefs (they were the only Pro Football team around and they were good then), Blues (same answer as the Chiefs), and of course my Kewpies (if your not from around here, you won’t get the reference).
4. Found it though trolling on TigerBoard…been here more than there now!
5. I would pick Don Faurot. Just asking him the basics of his offense and why couldn’t he have stayed the Head Coach longer.
6. I will probably never be able to afford either so I’m throwing a curveball (pun intended) here and choose the Championship series (with Mizzou involved) at the College World series…It’s just too bad the they closed down Rosenblatt.

I can NOT wait to get the party started on Friday night over at Faurot. This town is talking about HS Football this week! Hickman vs Rock Bridge (the Providence Bowl) is going to be CRAZY! There are projections of 25,000 for the game!

Living in Columbia for 9 years during and after college
and having no allegiance or connection to either school…
I became a bit of a Rock Bridge fan. Kewpie fans could be a little insufferable at times.
Sorry, my apologies
That totally sounds like I was trying to take a shot at you, and I swear that I wasn’t.
I could say the last part about RB fans...
but I get shots taken all the time…Comes with the territory of being a devoted Kewpie & Tiger fan.

1. I am currently a junior at the University of Missouri. I applied to a multitude of schools around the country, and, after being rejected by my top choice, I chose Mizzou, thus beginning my Tiger athletic infatuation.
2. I was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX. I currently reside in Columbia, MO.
3. I grew up a hardcore UT fan. Me and my dad, a UT alum, used to travel to the UT bowl games.
4. I found this site linked on ESPN, after the kU Mizzou basketball game in 2009. I was a lurker for a while, and finally joined in on the fun last November.
5. Norm Stewart
6. Blahhh I dunno…basketball I suppose, just to see Kimmeh’s championship reaction live.
Posted quite a bit during basketball and realignment, not much since...
1. Born and raised a Tiger fan. Also, I graduated undergrad in 2006 and got my JD this past May.
2. I was born in Jefferson City, MO and just got a new job back here…so excited about that. I lived in Columbia for 6 of my 7 college years. I tried Oklahoma City for my first year of Law School but couldn’t stand it and missed Mizzou, so I transfered back for my last two years.
3. I have always been a St. Louis sports fan. The Cardinals and Tigers share my sports fan love. I really enjoy Blues hockey, and my family has had Rams season tickets since the day they moved to St. Louis even though I’m not a huge NFL fan. The last 5-10 years or so, I’ve followed the NBA more and just kind of chose to follow the Nuggets. I have a little bit of a soft spot for Notre Dame football, but it’s not even close to my Mizzou fandom.
4. I was an infrequent poster on Tigerboard looking for something better.
5. For the craziness: Quin, Kleiza, and their girlfriend
For a guy I respect and would like to know: Norm
6. That’s a really tough choice because I may like Mizzou basketball a fraction more, but I think a Football championship would mean so much more for the school. I’d have to go with football.
He hit it good. He hit it good.
My MU roots
1. I am a proud Mizzou grad (journalism and Spanish).
2. I was born and raised in Chicago and I now live in Oak Park, which is just west of the city.
3. As far as the pros are concerned, I’m all about the White Sox, Blackhawks, Bulls and Blackhawks. I’ll get behind the Fire as well, even though they keep choking in the playoffs.Besides the Tigers, I grew up a Notre Dame fan and don’t mind seeing Illinois win, as long as Missouri is not the opponent.
4. Bill C. and I go way back to our Hatch Hall days (They grow up so fast. sniff)
5. I wouldn’t mind picking Lindsey Hunter’s volleyball brain, but I would pass that up to have drinks with Norm. I’ve interviewed him as a journalist, but he’s got to have some crazy off-the-record stories.
6. I have to go with hoops. To see the Tigers reach of the pinnacle of all that is March Madness would be off-the-charts cool.
Type here so your comment is collapsible
1. What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
I have no official ties to the University… but it never made sense to me for a native Missourian to pull for anyone other than Missouri. I recall very vividly my first ku-mocking purchase— a green T-shirt that I bought at a garage sale when I was like 8. And, inexplicably, I harbor an extreme dislike for kansas in general. There is no good reason for this, I don’t guess… but it is what it is.
Born in Smithville, MO— lived in the Great Free and Independent City of Kansas City (North of the River)… lived in MO my entire life save for 4 years during which I lived in northwest Arkansas.
3. For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Wizards for obvious reasons— I was not as successful in keeping the Razorback out of my system during my time in AR… And for reasons surely tied to the fact that I was raised in early-80s Chiefs Fandom, the other teams that I have developed rooting interest in generally find themselves mired in long periods of mediocrity (at best). Heart of Midlothian FC, St. Louis Blues, among others. Also, Newcastle United — which I scientifically selected due to the fact that their shirt sponsor at the time I became aware of them was Newcastle Brown Ale.
4. How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
RMN came highly recommended by a Tiger fan friend after I started getting into Tigerboard and lamented the general tenor… This would have been just after the Byron Eaton Lovefest Big XII Tournament 2009 edition. My first live thread experience hooked me, much to the chagrin of the community at large.
Just to toss another name out there— Kim Anderson… seeing as how he’s been the head coach at CMSU, and I’m still a Mules fan deep down inside from my college days… so it’s a two-birds-with-one-stone thing.

1. Born and raised a Mizzou fan. Family is from STL and dad went to nearby Westminster.
2. Embarassed to be born in IL, quickly made it to STL and then ended up in KC. Currently living in Cincinnati and hoping the Bengals realize you don’t draft a Mizzou tight end to block.
3. The Cardinals are my first love, with Mizzou not far behind. The Rams when they’re bearable.
4. Started reading Viva El Birdos for the Cardinals and somehow made it over here a couple years ago. Reading (lurking) ever since.
5. Feel like Norm is the obvious answer, but you gotta think Clarence Gilbert would be an interesting night.
6. Really torn between the idea of tailgating / attending an event as huge as a football championship and watching CMA win a basketball championship a la the Memphis game two years ago. I’ll go with basketball. Too much debate when it comes to a football champion.

1.What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
Alum- BS 2004
2.Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
Born and raised in Springfield. Have only lived in Columbia and Springfield. Too many Jayhawkers down here, it makes me mad.
3.For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
I rooted for Syracuse growing up because my father went there. I also attend some Missouri State games, but MU is what I really care about.
4.How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
tigerboard
5.You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
Brad Smith. He seems like such a nice guy and really transformed our football program. Kimmie is a close second.
6.In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
First of all, I would sell anything but my wife or daughter to attend both. I would probably pick football.
Killing Time
1. Proud Alum. Grew up hating Ku – still do (even though I’m married to a Jayhawk – please don’t hold that against me).
2. Born in Coffeyville, KS – home of the Red Ravens (who groomed many next-gen Tigers such as Damien Nash, R.I.P.). Raised in Liberty, MO – home of the next Jeremy Maclin (oh please don’t let me down Marcus). Live on the Kansas side in KC (somebody’s got to get behind enemy lines).
3. Homer – so it’s pretty much anything KC but dang that’s tough right now.
4. Jumped onboard after Rock M got some love a while back from the ESPN Big 12 blog (can’t remember how long ago that was).
5. Brad Smith (even though he doesn’t drink I think). I still say that guy turned Mizzou football around (sure sure GP did some stuff). But without Bradley’s highlight reel stuff who’s to say Chase comes onboard (we weren’t much to look at post Corby). Without Chase there’s probably no Maclin, Coffman, or 2007 hand-shakes. All goes back to Brad. Plus he’s just an all-around good guy.
6. Football. Unless it’s 2027 and there’s a playoff system in place – you’d have to have a lot of things go right to get into the footbal championship (thank you BCS scally-wags). Plus – I watched Duke-Baylor in Houston this year from Reliant but still saw more of the game on the video board than live-action. Basketball games in a football mega-stadium just ain’t natural.

2. Born in Florissant, MO- sub of STL. Currently in St Charles, MO
3. Obviously the Cardinals and Blues. Prefer the Chiefs and Celts for NBA team
4. Do not recall exactly how I found it.
5. Norm is the obvious answer but I would go with Sunvold to be different
6. One Shining Moment- harder to get there than Football’s joke for crowning a champion.
Mostly lurking, always reading
Hello ladies,
Great idea with the roll call. This is my cue to sound off since I normally just lurk and laugh and occasionally share a link with buddies and call it good. Let me go down the list:
Graduated from Mizzou with a BS in health professions, raised as a fan. When I was born, I was brought home from the hospital in black and gold. I didn’t have a chance.
Born in Sedalia, currently fighting the good fight west of the state line, Overland Park to be exact. I rarely admit this, but at a young age I became a Pittsburgh Steelers fan because they were the only team in the NFL that had the same colors as Mizzou (like I said, never had a chance). Lately, I have a better excuse, as Ziggy is poised for a breakout year. Lifelong Cardinals fan, which gets me a lot of dirty looks around the KC metro area.
I found RockMNation after a buddy of mine suggested I check it out one night after I bitched about another Mizzou fansite that shall remain nameless. I’ve been fighting the mob mentality ever since. If I got to sit down with one figure in Mizzou history for booze, I’m going with Bill Wilkerson, which I know is out of left field. I always wanted to meet the guy who was the voice of my childhood team. I was fortunate enough to go to games growing up (parents and grandparents had season football tickets), and it never seemed to matter that we were getting beat 55-0. I still watched. And when we were getting beat on the road, I still listened. Bill was there, telling his buddy Mike how the guys were doing on the field.
For reasons listed above, I’m going to see Mizzou in the NC game on the gridiron if I had to choose between football and basketball. Mizzou football has been such a huge part of every stage of my life, I would stop at nothing to get there.
Great thread idea guys, keep up the good work. I’ll be lurking…

4. I dont really remember i think i was just looking up some missouri football articles
5. I would love to hear all of the stories a guy like Norm Stewart could tell about mizzou basketball and basically anything else
6. Thats a tough one but i think Im gonna have to go with basketball because theres nothing better than the ncaa tourney
Breaking the lurker code
1. son of a Mizzou J-school grad. I graduated in 1987. BS in ag.economics.
2. Born in Mexico, Mo. Moved to Columbia in 1982 to attend MU. Met my wife, a 1985 Nursing grad. Married 1986. Moved down on the farm in 1990.
3. As a kid I lived and died St. Louis Cards football. O.K. Mainly just died! First Tiger memories are of Willie Smith.I went to alot of Tiger football games during the 80’s but was usually on the bus for downtown by halftime.(so was everyone else) Tiger basketball was my passion and as much as hate for Kansas is reflexive, you just have to know that Billy Tubbs was evil incarnate. On Dec.22, 1993 at the end of regulation in the MU/Illni game my wife went into labor with our second child she toughed it out until the end of the 3rd OT. the rest of the family at the x-mas gathering was about to kill me! It was a special night ,special game, special season for me. So I’ve always been a die hard MU basketball fan though some of the Quinn years caused me to lose a little focus.
4. After the 08/09 basketball season I was reading any and everything about Tiger B-ball
and searched for forums and been here almost daily ever since.
5. Norm, of course. did have a beer or two…. with Mike Sandbothe and Greg "The Hammer " Church.
6.While I admit after wandering in wilderness all these years a football championship game would be sweet, oh so sweet. I’ll have to stick with basketball. If just to stick it in the craw of the beakers.

3. Blues, Rams, Cardinals. Location. I am not that deep…
4. A friend told me about the website and the rest is history.
5. I would have a beer with T-Ruck. He seems like a riot.

Mostly a Lurker
1. What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
Alum ‘08. I was a Husker fan for my first two years (Martin “T” Rucker about spit his drink out when I tried to explain to him how despite going here I was still a Husker), but being immersed in it (and dating an athlete) I jumped ship on the Skers and haven’t looked back.
2. Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
I was born and raised in the horrible state of corn, specifically a VILLAGE called Cedar Bluffs. Look it up, you’ll see why I cam to Mizzou. I am currently in Greenville, SC working towards my MBA at Clemson GO TIGERS….still?again?also? If anyone knows any Mizzou Alum in the Upstate SC area that want to watch some football or basketball let me know at jjk6xc@gmail.com
3. For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
When I was 5 I jumped on the Aikman, Irvin, Smith bandwagon. Royals (I hate the Cardinals, and no self-respecting man can cheer on the Cubs)
4. How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
EDSBS is my shiz-nit and you were linked there
5. You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
T Rucker’s birthday party at Tonic was a good time, but I’m gonna go with Coach Steck. I think he has been around the program for a while to really give a great feel for the program, and he isn’t a head coach so I wouldn’t get the Coach-speak bull crap.
6. In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
Football, football, football. I am from Nebraska and by law football is more important than most things in life, I will absolutely plan weddings, around football season.
I shoot the gubment when they comes to count me
…but I guess I’ll participate in your census.
1. Born and raised a Mizzou fan—both parents went there, and my grandpa was a professor there. I always figured I would go there too, but when I was 18 Wash U made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Still, the nice thing about going to a D-3 school is that you don’t really need to change your D-1 loyalties. I even converted my New York-born roommate to Mizzou fandom when we went to the ’98 KU game.
2. Born in Springfield. Currently live in Kansas City. Stops along the way in St. Louis, New Jersey, and Warrensburg.
3. Rutgers, where I earned my PhD. Missouri State, since I grew up in Springfield in the Winston Garland era. Still, I would definitely root for Mizzou against MSU, and probably against Rutgers as well (although that one would hurt—a lot). Pro-wise, I root for the Chiefs, Royals, and Cubs.
4. I honestly don’t remember. I probably saw a link to something on Tigerboard, read Rock M, and thought, “OMG, these guys aren’t flame-baiting retards!!! I never have to go to Tigerboard again!!!”
5. Norm. No need to explain.
6. Football. I’m a professor, so I’m on winter break in early January, whereas early April is the heart of my busy season.

just registered, started reading RMN seriously last two weeks
1. grew up rooting for the home state team, just the way it is
2. born San Diego, CA, (Dad was in the Navy, he’s from Stotesbury, the Nevada folks MIGHT know where that is, he graduated from Hume), raised in Joplin, currently reside in Tucson, AZ, the last place the AF will send me
3. Chiefs, Kings (before they moved, don’t care now), used to be the Royals for baseball, when they quit trying latched on with the brand new Diamondbacks while living in Phoenix. A distant 2nd for CFB is the Arizona Wildcats (have a second cousin cheerleader, and season tix), although I only root for two basketball teams, the other one being whoever is playing ku. Other than MIZZOU, basketball bores me.
4. from tigerboard
5. my favorite KC Chief of all time….Henry Marshall
6. basketball is still the secondary sport, regardless…so the choice is FOOTBALL.
1. Grew up rooting for MU (got to rub in their beatings of ‘Bama to my relatives “down South” when I was little), and alum (c/o ’93)
2. Born/raised in Florissant; live in suburbs of Atlanta now
3. Baseball Cardinals, Rams, Blues (I’m a homer); also follow the Carolina Hurricanes (they moved to NC when I did, and won the Stanley Cup right before I moved away), and Atlanta teams since they’re here (like the Falcons, Thrashers, and Hawks; tolerate the Braves)
4. I think it started during the whole conference shifting from this summer
5. Harry Colon: he had the best name of any MU athlete when I was a student.
6. Football. I was at the 5th Down Game, and I could count to 5 then. :) I’ve seen one of my teams in the basketball Final 4 (Mississippi State went when I was in grad school).
First time pos... nahhh, just kidding.
What is your connection to the University of Missouri? Alum? Student? Raised as a fan? Randomly adopted Mizzou?
Attended Columbia College (95-99) and with my Philosophy degree in hand; set out to conquer the world. However, no one would hire me, so I got into the food & beverage industry in order to pay a couple months of rent. 11 years later… Still in Columbia. Still follow my Cougar sports, but I have adopted the Tigers as my sports-guy-trivia-bartender-passion.
Where were you born and raised and where do you currently reside?
Born: KC
Raised: Plano, Tx (rhymes with Drain-O)
High School: KC
College: Columbia
Reside: Sixth and Broadway
For what other teams have you developed a rooting interest and why?
UNC (and possibly Gonzaga) basketball. Boise State and Air Force. Chiefs and Bears. Royals. Devils. Wizards & Arsenal. Whichever team Sam Perkins is playing for (Oh, he retired? Crap.)
How did you find and begin to read Rock M Nation?
Huge Internet dork, here. Not sure how I ended up here, though I’m going to blame this one on Positivity1, who must have recommended it over the bar on a Saturday night.
You’re given a chance to spend an evening over drinks with one figure from Mizzou athletics history. Who are you picking and why?
Well, preparing car bombs for JT was fun…?
In the same year, Missouri makes the national championship game in both football and basketball and you can only afford to attend one of the two. Which one are you picking?
I’m sure that I will be squarely in the minority on this one, but I would choose basketball in a heartbeat.
Bet me!

1. I was born and raised in SW MO. My dad is a beaker who moved across the border for work. I never actually went to MU, but my wife and sister both did.
2. Born and raised in Nevada, MO- currently in Pittsburg, KS for school/work – kind of the opposite of my dad.
3. OU when they’re not on our schedule, because wife’s family is a diehard Sooner family. Plus, we both hate Nebraska. Also, I like whoever is playing Florida and Notre Dame. Professionally, I’m a diehard Royals, Vikings, and now OKC Thunder fan.
4. I believe it was linked in a Twitter post – sometime last year. On my bookmarks and the first thing I check every day now.
5. Brad Smith – seems like an awesome dude that’d just be a fun guy to hang out with and chill.
6. Football, definitely. More than likely, it would require that we beat OU, so I could rub it in my in-laws’ faces. Plus, football is where it’s at collegiately, and we’d have bragging rights over Kansas forever.
Bleeding Black & Gold Since '77
1. Born bleeding black & gold.
2. Born St. Peters, MO. Still live in St. Peters, MO
3. All Missouri teams, I was raised to support my state teams on all levels. peewee to pro
4. Joined RMN Oct 15, 2008, dam has it been that long….
5. Tough question. let me think on it for a day or two.
6. Right now I have to go with football. After seeing the 5th down in person & the kicked ball incident seeing the football program win the National Championship means more to me than a bball championship any day of the week. Any one care to guess what the odds are on that happening. I would go with 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to 1. There is probably a better chance of me being Mizzou’s AD.
M-I-Z!

1. Alum with a bach. and prof. degree. Most of my extended family went to mizzou.
2. Born and raised in stl, Just moved back to stl after 7 years in como
3. Stl pro teams. Slu basketball as far as ncaa goes. I know we’re maybe supposed to hate them…
4. I read the previous blogs.
5. Probably B-rad. Good memories from freshman year.
6. Football, but only because the atmosphere at the final four is supposed to suck.
"Heh, Heh, Heh, Heh" -Mike Shannon
1) I am an alum as of May 2009. I was not raised as a fan whatsoever. I had no rooting interest in Mizzou before I came to the school. But after 4 (who am I kidding, 5) awesome years at Mizzou I’m obsessed for life.
2) St. Louis MO, specifically U-City, and I am still here.
3) In college basketball I have sympathies for Marquette and West Virginia (which ended up being ironic). But my favorite sports team is the Atlanta Braves. College football I only root for Mizzou, I am also like the Blues and Rams
4) I was originally a Talking Chop reader, looked for a Mizzou blog on SB Nation, and found Rock M Nation
5) Like I said, I haven’t been a Mizzou fan my whole life, so I at this point am really only enamored with recent athletes. I’d take either Zaire Taylor or Kim English
6) Football, tailgating would be out of control
1) Current senior, majoring in physics and economics
2) Born and raised in Saint Louis general area, until college
3) All saint louis teams, liverpool fc, indiana hoosiers and the colts as a result of my grandpa.
4) started with sbn at vivaelbirdos, haven’t looked back since
5) kimmeh
6) basketball. i just enjoy the game more, although i’m not saying i wouldn’t pay out the wazoo for football championship tix
capital letters suck.
aka A Fastidious Hat
1. I briefly attended the university for a few years starting in 2005. I was always a casual fan of the home state team but didn’t fall in love until the Iowa State game. Specifically this moment.
2. Born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised mainly in St. Charles, MO with a quick stop in Houston, TX. Currently living in Wentzville, MO.
3. When you’re born in Pittsburgh, you’re born a Steelers fan. I’ve been bleeding black and gold for a long time. Aside from that I’m a fan of the Cardinals and the Blues (well, I would be if I cared about hockey). I used to be a fan of Pitt mainly because of basketball but that’s pretty much passed.
4. I’m pretty sure I followed a link here from Mizzourah! I honestly have no idea.
5. Andy Russell, definitely.
I met Chase Daniel once at Pickleman’s after a night where I was drinking and he was clearly drunk. Does that count for something?
6. Football. While a chance for a National Title in basketball in huge there is just something impossibly huge about football National Title for Mizzou that cannot be ignored.

PITTSBURGH!!!
I have an irrational attachment to that city, and I’ve been there all of about five times.
Coming in August: Rock M Nation's 2010 Missouri Football Preview!!!

It's an underrated city
Also, super awesome if you love stuffing your face with horrifically fatty (therefore, delicious) foods. Primanti Bros for the win.

1. I am an alum, class of ‘02 in journalism and political science. First Mizzou game I ever saw was the end of the 97 MU-Nebraska game on TV in my parent’s house in Phoenix. It was on that day that I learned that Mizzou always plays to the pain.
2. Born near San Francisco. Moved to New Jersey when I was 7. Moved to Phoenix when I was 12. Moved to Columbia for school in 1997. Moved back to Phoenix in 2003. Moved to Atlanta in 2008. Moving back to Phoenix next month.
3. Birth and family made me big fans of the Niners and the Oakland A’s. Outside of Mizzou, I root for Arizona State some since I got my master’s there. My time living down the street on North Ave. has me somewhat rooting for Georgia Tech. My wife and I both have the Diamondbacks on our list of teams to root for too.
4. I don’t remember but I bet it was through AthleticsNation.
5. I’m not sure. I’m torn between Norm Stewart and Jeremy Maclin.
6. Football. Because I’m fully aware of how difficult it would be for Mizzou to reach those heights. Basketball we have a chance to be a dynastic team if we catch the right breaks these next few years.
Lurker for over a year
1. I’m a recent alum (2009) and fell in love with the football team during the Homecoming game in 2005.
2. I was born and raised in St. Louis, and have since moved back after graduation.
3. I grew up in a St. Louis Cardinals household. I’ll also root for the Rams and the Blues, but I don’t catch many games.
4. I think I was searching for a tailgating tshirt and stumbled upon this site. I’ve been visiting daily since.
5. Tough question. Maybe Zaire Taylor or Chase Coffman. I just loved the way they played. Or maybe Spoon so he could teach me some dance moves…
6. I love Tiger basketball, but at heart I’m a football guy. The atmosphere would be insane and I’d regret it for the rest of my life if I wasn’t there.
lurker occasional poster

1. Alum (1974) as is my wife (1976) and son (BSCE 04, MSCE 06). Son was student-athlete (swimming: 2000-2004). Was at the final game in Brewer Fieldhouse and the first game in Hearnes, and my son was at the final game in Hearnes and first game in the Mizzou Arena……the tradition continues!!!!!
2. Born and raised 40 miles north of Columbia. Have lived in Oklahoma City for past 22 years.
3. Lifelong Cardinals fan from the “Stan the Man” days. Partime Royals fan having worked for the Royals Radio Network in a previous lifetime. OKC Thunder!!! (Obvious)
4. Following Beef’s classic “resignation” from another board, followed him, The Boy, and others…..Achmed, I’m talking about you….eventually ending up at RMN.
5. Houston “Hoot” Beatty. Went to my first Mizzou football game in 1960, and Hoot had the seat next to my parents. Bob Steuber, Harry Ice, and a host of others were in the seats around us also. For those of you who don’t know who Hoot was, go back to the late 30’s or early 40’s of Mizzou football hi
