WTF?

Did Pinkel & Alden forget to re-up for the Widows & Orphan fund?

Whoever said, 'It's not whether you win or lose that counts,' probably lost.

fo real

"...some of the biggest roars you hear at Mizzou Arena these days are for steals, shot clock violations, and forcing opponents into timeouts in their own backcourt. Just as Anderson has crafted himself a team built on defensive intensity, he's built himself a fan base that echoes that same value system." - RPT

I bought that song from iTunes

just to support the people who made it, it made me laugh so hard.

So was Ebner

Apparently, I’m hurt, so I don’t have to really practice, so I can get wasted and then compound my error by getting behind the wheel.

Un-flippin-believable.

I meant that as in its not another player we have to worry about not playing.

because we already knew he wasnt playing, but I realize it sounded dumb as hell.

For all intents and purposes...

… that’s exactly what they tell you at Summer Welcome.

by RPT on Aug 29, 2010 6:15 PM CDT up reply actions

unfortunately

the thing takes really damn long sometimes so a lot of people are turned off by that, plus they have those rules about not driving you to other parties… sheesh!

It's always darkest before the dawn?

If so then dawn has got to be right around the corner, right?

The only explanation for this? Somebody held back in the cleansing thread. Fess up, people, this srs business of our sports rooting is at stake!

I am so angry right now

These stupid bastards are really doing their best to flush this damn season. Whether it comes from internal (remaining) captains… or from the coaching staff. Someone needs to beat some sense into these kids.

Not only are poor choices involved, but in almost every instance someone else has been hurt or could have been hurt from their actions.

Jumping in the pool with some girls after it’s closed is pretty tame and I thought humorous in the “boys will be boys” kind of way.

Sexual Assult possibility and multiple DWI/DUI’s?

I cannot put into words how angry at the lack of seriousness on the player’s parts. I know school is supposed to be fun and I’m not against partying at all. But, the things they’re getting involved in is absolutely insanely stupid.

There have been ENOUGH examples.

Mother F. If something doesn’t happen, we’re going to mail in this damn season.

Mike's a bit snarky in that article

seems he’s pissed too.

My wife tells me I overreact. But, I do think putting Beau and subsequent offenders in an open area and beating them senseless is great idea. Or, the next offender kicks thrown off the team. If Blaine gets caught, tough. It’s time for a reckoning. Time for football players to realize they are not top shit anymore, and can get away with anything.

Finds MvP RoC to be a stellar individual

To be fair...

… snarky is kind of Mike’s thing.

by RPT on Aug 29, 2010 10:42 PM CDT up reply actions

This is getting stupid

Use your brains, guys. You have a great opportunity to do some good things for the program this year, so stop screwing around.

So soon after

So soon after the past couple of incidents.

I can’t think of a bigger way to let your team down at this point in time than to create another headline one week before the first game.

Though I am not one to support harsh sanctions for a first time offense involving a DWI in regards to a player’s status on the team, it wouldn’t bother me one bit if the coach decided to kick him off the team for this incident. Just the fact that he was disrespectful enough to everyone else going through such a difficult period to willingly risk piling even more on top of it is enough for me. Its like pouring salt in an open wound before it even had a chance to really start healing.

by M Krip on Aug 30, 2010 1:03 AM CDT reply actions

The thing is

That this kind of shit may fly at other big programs – like Florida, OU, Texas, etc. (not saying they have those problems – just examples) but it won’t fly here for two reasons. First, Mizzou doesn’t churn out BCS bowls like those schools. Its much easier to rationalize the DWIs and petty offenses as a kind of “cost of doing business” when you are constantly in the hunt to win it all.

Second, Mizzou bills itself as a family-friendly, “we are in it together” program. It just rings a little hollow when you go sit down in a kid’s living room and tell his parents “we are like a family” and “we take care of each other” when coaches and players of all levels are getting arrested left and right.

Either way, I hope this shit stops for my personal sanity and for Pinkel’s career. Not winning big games may be an unfair knock (or legit, depending on your point of view), but it is a lot easier to combat that critique when you run a tight ship. When you don’t – whether that’s fair or not – people suddenly have a lot less empathy.

so it's...

the Missouri Lawbreakers vs. the Illinois Fighting Cripples. should be a good battle.

by ZOUTiger on Aug 30, 2010 9:04 AM CDT reply actions

Depending on if anything is resolved with the D-Wash case this week

Mizzou could potentially vault to second place in the Fulmer Cup standings. I guess if you’re going to fail, fail with gusto.

Grr…
