What I got:
He politely declined Bob Stoops’ overtures after the Oklahoma football coach asked for his number.
“Nothing personal against him,” Beckham said. “But we don’t want to open the floodgates.”
WHEW! So we still have a chance right?
Also, I have a question, if the following is true:
Springfield’s top recruit in that span was another Hillcrest alum, Chris Earnhardt, who spent three years at Mizzou before transferring to Missouri State recently.
The Rivals.com comment about Earnhardt in 2007, when he was rated Missouri’s No. 13 player, read: “First legit prospect out of Springfield in years and years.”
How did he not crack the starting rotation?

I am going to go out on a limb and say.....
…because he wasn’t good enough.

See that's the problem
I just got my Preview today.

Ya...the 13th player out of Missouri is usually not one the tigers will go after.
In fact, I’m pretty sure this year only about 5 kids from Missouri got an offer. Granted this is a small class, but usually (unless its things like injuries with Brandon Hannah or we miss all our main targets), Mizzou tends to not go after guys outside of the top 10.

Just thought I would mention..
That the two sppon articles are the exact same thing. Just from different websites.

Mike Anderson
must be a pretty good coach if he only has one sub on the linked All-North team. Team over individuals, etc.
Speaking of Ratterree,
he was a Heisman finalist in one of my dynasties on NCAA 11.
Making you feel old since 9/26/09
Damn straight he was.

Ok I remember the story..
Forgot the name. But do not forget that the defense is called the Matrix this year.

.
And defensive-backs coach Cornell Ford provided a flat-out "Yes" when asked whether that scheme would have more and tighter press coverage rather than the 7-yard cushion Missouri has frequently given to opposing receivers.
Hooray!
Hooray
To more corners getting burned. Hope the safeties step it up to prevent the deep ball.
Annoying You Since 1986
Do you want to die up top or underneath?
Mizzou can’t stop 3rd and long as it is and they get murdered on the short routes. Do you think they should just keep doing what they’re doing?
Oh no.
I just think the large gaps were because our safeties were worse than anyone expected, and so the corners had to play back. Hoping that the smaller gaps means the coaches have more faith that the safeties have improved.
Annoying You Since 1986
Oh thank goodness
This is the only thing I really did not like about Pinkel philosophically. I’d much rather make people earn the long bomb downfield(harder throw, safety help, in bounds problems for the receiver, longer time for pass rush to disrupt) than let the small rhythm throws happen without much recourse all game long.

North v South
Really? North v South is closer in football than it is in basketball right now. Just my opinion.
Former Mizzourah.net asshat
I disagree, but see your point.
I think 3 of the top 6 teams int he big 12 in basketball are from the south (although they are probably 4-6), but only 2 teams (maybe) from the big 12 north are in the top 6 in football.
Annoying You Since 1986
kU, Mizzou, K-State are easily the top three programs in the B12 right now in basketball.
I’d probably say Baylor is #4, but that gap between those three and then Baylor or whoever you think is #4 is ridiculously large.
I’d love to cut the fat and eliminate Nebraska and Colorado from the basketball discussion (makes the North look better), but I’d need Nebraska for the football portion.
(Read: How useless is Colorado?)
Former Mizzourah.net asshat
I think that KU is easily the best program in the big 12..
But if your talking about programs and not neccesarily teams, I’m not sure how its so easy to separate K St and Mizzou from a team like say Texas.
Last 3 years….
Record
Texas-78-29
K St-72-32
Mizzou-70-34
NCAA Tourneys
Texas-3
K St-2
Mizzou-2
All have one elite 8 appearance where they all lost. Yes, I know you could do two years and it would swing more in Mizzou’s favor. And I understand that. But I don’t feel a program is built on 2 (or even 3 years). Has Texas underachieved the past two seasons? Yes. But keep in mind this was a team who was seeded higher than Mizzou last year and was 5 points away from finishing ahead of Mizzou in the conference too. To say we are Easily a better program than them is a pretty out there statement.
Annoying You Since 1986
Texas was seeded higher based on inertia
And Mizzou took a dive because of losing to Nebraska. I don’t think anyone seriously believed going into the NCAA Tourney that Texas was the better team. Texas certainly has the ability to bounce back, but Mizzou has been winning the last few head-to-head matchups both in Columbia and in Texas.
And Mizzou gets kU and K-State 2x a year.
Texas avoids that until the B12-2 starts.
I hate to compare tourney runs, just because the quality of opponents is so different, but Mizzou has gone deeper in the tourney (or as deep) as every B12 South school.
And with basketball, I think you absolutely judge a program on 2-3 years. There is so much more turnover in basketball than football. Of course, the one-and-done rule is a major part of the fragile structure of basketball. Look at Kentucky for an example of being turribull, going to #1, and back to being an unknown in three years. With football, you’re looking more at 3-5yrs I think.

What's the family story on Dorial Green?
Seems like his adoptive parents have done a solid job advising, which is always good. Enjoy your time in HS and do what you want to do; can’t argue with that. Very Maclin-esque. So far, it sounds like he’s got great character value.
Too many times, parents get involved and totally eff the kid over (Arthur Brown, Mustain’s mom, etc).
Former Mizzourah.net asshat
North vs. South basketball:
The North would win that match-up easily. When Cory Higgins is coming off the bench, your team is downright stacked.
Overall picture North vs South regular season
18-18
Without the bottom two its 16-8 for the north. Iowa State actually did worse than Colorado this year and lost all 6 of its games against the south.
Are these the results of a division being top heavy or the other being more balanced?
When you have the best 3 teams...
And arguably 3 of the 4 or 5 worst teamsin one division…I think that is the definition of top heavy.
Annoying You Since 1986
Not really
Three great teams and three not great teams is about as balanced as you can get, it’s just that the extremes are overrepresented. It’s more of a barbell than a bell. A top-heavy division would be one where you have four tourney-caliber teams slugging it out for the top spot and a couple of also-rans. The converse is having one good team and a lot of scrubs. Neither of those scenarios are balanced.
