As you can see, Mizzou Football has been absolutly DOMINANT in this particular series (the reverse of the Basketball series, but we'll save that for another post). So, as long as Mizzou shows up and plays hard, they should win and end this series on a 6 game winning streak. (And I'll even BET that we won't see Ill-annoying in Football for at LEAST a decade).

Interesting that Illinois has not beaten us away from Champaign..
Since 1976. Yikes.
Annoying You Since 1986
For reference, that is 5 years before my parents even met.

As i was only two at the time can someone explain to me how we go from winning 31-3 in 1993 to getting completely blown out 42-0 the next year?
Easy...
1993 was a bad year for Illinois, 1994 was a REALLY bad year for us!

What catches my eye...
…is that none of the first seven games were in Columbia. And overall there were almost twice as many games in Champaign as there were in Columbia (off by 1 or 2 depending on which way one rounds). Why is that?

I have your answer...
Basically it is due to the fact that early on Mizzou used them as “money” games. The trips to the various Big 10 schools would pay for a huge part of the athletic department budget (See the 10 visits to Ohio State in the 30’s and 40’s as an example). Also, basically it was going to Chicago for some big time exposure. Remember that the Big 10 was the DOMINANT conference for the majority of the 20th century. The teams in that league (outside Northwestern and Purdue) could basically call their own shots and the other teams in major college football would have to follow along.

So...
…that means they brought in Mizzou in hopes of a cupcake and instead have been habitually smacked in the mouth. Is that about right? Funny.

That is about the size of it.

Well, Mizzou escaped with at 23-13 win...
now I get to be nervous about the next opponent after the kU debaucle against North Dakota State.
Although, I have heard that McNeese State is having a Hard time with Lamar who is JUST revived their football program this year!
