Week 4 BlogPoll Ballot
STANDARD DISCLAIMER: Ignore the deltas. This ballot was filled from scratch with zero regard for last week's ballot. Thus, the "you dropped X team Y spots for beating team Z [score] to [score]???" argument does not stand. However, I'm definitely in need of feedback for ways to improve the ballot. Make a compelling argument and I'm more than willing to adjust the rankings.

I cannot in any conceivable way...
…justify Oregon being out of the Top 3. I would also personally put TCU over Boise at this point.
Other comments:
- I would have S. Caro. and Stanford ahead of Wisconsin. The Badgers have looked good in spurts, but they’ve run into trouble when taking the foot off the accelerator. Stanford has yet to take their foot off the accelerator, and S. Caro. has at least one win much more impressive than anything Wisconsin has done. Arizona too, for that matter.
- Petrified of Michigan’s defense. Can’t justify putting them in the top 10 at the moment.
- Love having Air Force ranked. They’ve earned it. Nevada too.

I don't like Michigan that high.
They beat UMASS by 5, and their best win is over a 1-2 irish team. Nebraska has at least blown out all the sub par teams they played. I move the 3 big 12 teams ahead of them. Oklahoma might have played a couple of close games against bad teams, but at least they beat a pretty good one. And I think a road win at Tech by Texas is more impressive than the road win at ND because I think as usual notre dame is really overrated. But I don’t think Michigan over Texas is a bad pick, but definately not over OU or Nubs.
On a side note, Mizzou really needs to schedule some games against Notre Dame. They are an average team at best every year, but a win over them seems to automatically jump you into the top 20 teams.
Annoying You Since 1986
If I remember correctly...and I really might not...
…I’m pretty sure Mizzou tried to schedule something with Notre Dame, but it fell apart because ND wanted our home game in the home-and-home to be played in StL…or something like that. That might be a total rumor, but that’s what I seem to recall hearing…

They wanted the 2-for-1, didn't they?

I can understand why we would not go for that..
But I can’t believe Notre Dame will do Home and Home’s with BC, Pitt and Wash but not Mizzou. It’s not a far drive for their fans, and we are good enough that it would definately make for a pretty good match up for the TV folks.
Annoying You Since 1986
Missouri...
… is a big enough program that it can survive (AND be one of a small handful of athletic departments to actually make money) by demanding home-and-home with other programs and paying out other opponents. There is ZERO financial incentive for Missouri to voluntarily give up a home game.

Oh that I understand...
I’m just surprised that Notre Dame would demand the 2 for 1 with us when they have done home and homes with the other teams mentioned.
Annoying You Since 1986
Mizzou might be too good.
I’m certainly no homer. (I’m a Buckeye living in COMO.) However, Notre Dame runs a serious risk of losing to Mizzou. That’s the first issue. The second is that those other schools (BC, Washington) provide more national exposure. ND considers themselves a national program, not a regional one. To risk a loss to a non-traditional rival no matter how good they are puts their brand at risk. That’s why they want a deal that benefits them most. A 2-for-1 gives them two home games on NBC. A game in Catholic-friendly STL is like a home game for them. The risk for the reward in playing Mizzou is too great.
Because we couldn't go for three.

I have to join the anti-Michigan chorus here
Their resume is very unimpressive. I also think Wiscy is a bit high.
Of course, it’s all pretty much guess work until you get 6 or 7 weeks in anyway.
Michigan
I still can’t see Michigan that high. Their wins over UConn and Notre Dame are less impressive now that both of those teams have lost, and they barely survived UMass this week. That just doesn’t stand up against teams like South Carolina or Arkansas.
Re: Michigan
Michigan is too high. They struggled to stop a FCS opponent. Michigan State has been more impressive than the Wolverines and they haven’t made your poll. Also, has there been a team more dominant than Oregon. I hate those Ducks, but they are straight rolling folks. I can’t see how Boise or TCU could hang with them at this point.
Also, look out next week for Miami (OH). There are looking like a new ball club this year. They had a chance versus Florida and have seemingly turned things around. If my memory serves me correctly, most of those 11 losses last year were fairly close. If Mizzou wins the game by 2+ scores, you might have to include them in your poll.
Because we couldn't go for three.

There's 28 teams that are undefeated with at least one win over a BCS school
No need for any team with a loss to be pulling a spot in the poll if you ask me.
For individuals, I’d say Nevada and definitely Stanford need to be higher. Stanford has dismantled two BCS teams, which is more than anyone in the country can say.

That was my idea in week 1...
… and then everyone whined that losing to good teams shouldn’t automatically push them off the ballot.

I was with you then and I'm still for it
3 weeks is still pretty light to give a team with a loss that much credit, and there’s 9 games left for anyone to move up who can keep winning.

That looks much better.
It’s been brought up enough here, but I’m curious why you like Michigan so much. I thought I was their biggest non-Michigan fan believer this season and I wouldn’t put them in the top 15. Their 2 best wins got devalued (the UConn win is almost worthless after losing to Temple) and this week was ugly for the Wolverines. It seems a lot easier to attack them than defend them right now.
I think LSU should be 16
move everybody up one and switch Stanford and USCe. They have the talent to be a top five team but the first mentally challenged head coach in the NCAA.
Making you feel old since 9/26/09
They've also now destroyed two SEC opponents.
They have as much of a right to be in the Top 10 as most other teams in their range.
