I guess I'll repeat my queston from the last thread
How is everyone feeling about the team after non-con?
blaine needs to step up when he passes and we'll be in good shape
After 5 No-Dozes I feel great.. only except that i can hear my ears.. and I believe that toenails are the funniest thing I have ever seen.

I'm confident
Obviously, we don’t know how the team stacks up with Nebraska or Oklahoma, but I think they are talented enough to compete against those teams. It’s nice to see the running game going and I think if they can keep it up, the offense has the chance to be as lethal as in previous years. I’m still concerned about Gabbert’s mental game and I think opposing Big XII defenses are going to try and get in his head and rattle him. Overall though, I feel positive.
Slightly worried
We’ve put together two solid performances against mediocre opposition, and we won by much less of a margin against a mid-major and against a bottom feeder big 6 school than I’d like. We’re going to need some improvement if we’re going to challenge Texas A&M or Nebraska on their home turf.
Can’t complain about 4-0, but I’m less optimistic now about going into Oklahoma undefeated or challenging for the North title than I was preseason.

Depends on who loses
I could see us coming in at 24 or 25
This is for the streak. RIP, PAT streak!

Question:
Would you rather have Mizzou’s 4-0 or KSU’s 4-0, including a win over a decent Pac-10 team, a good CUSA team and a Big 12 win?

oh sorry misread the question
Kstate’s wins have been pretty impressive
by MIZfalconAviator on Sep 25, 2010 4:19 PM CDT up reply actions
I'm not really sure how to answer that
In terms of which 4-0 team I’ve been more impressed with, I’d definitely go with Mizzou. The narrative prior to the season was that K-State would be a tough out but doesn’t have the athletes to really challenge for the conference title, and I think their non-con has borne that out. Plus they simply aren’t going to come on the winning side of these coinflip games every week. I do wish them the best of luck in going to 5-0 though.
For Mizzou, I think we’ve answered some questions, and others have potential fixes that are just a matter of time(Jackson getting healthy increasing our big play ability on offense, for example). I think the underrated story is how strong our defense has been. In 4 games our 1st team offense has given up 3 touchdowns, and 2 of those were the freak/fluke Hillman runs. That’s tremendous.

Make that 19-3.

We’ll have to play them every year.

And am still rooting for him to throw 6 more td’s…although I don’t think they wil lose 70-0 as I hoped.

It isn't just the cbs announcers.
They have him one of the heisman favorites based on his wins over tenn tech, louisana monroe, and a 1-2 georgia team.

thats true
I guess I havent been paying attention to any Heisman hype this year, let alone Mallett’s

Good game today
We got to the fast start and never looked back! Run game looked fine. Still some questionable play calls, but it wouldnt be a Mizzou game if we didnt have those.
I am still fired up that our pick-6 was called back. It was a weak call!!
and
RIP PAT streak.

What calls were questionable?
Not saying you’re wrong, but I just can’t recall any play calls I disagreed with.
Back on the scene, crispy and clean.
I dont remember specifics
i should have said in my opinion. i would prefer less quarterback keepers. and more throws down field. I just feel that we have a lot of horizontal plays. Its just my opinion.

Annoying You Since 1986
No kidding
It’s almost to the point where you can predict which team will have the better year by looking at the schedule and see who we play. If it was flipped I bet Pinkel has 2-3 wins against them.
devils advocate here
maybe we could just show up to play when we play teams like that. Instead of hoping that they have a bad team we could worry about having a good team ourselves.
You don't have to come and confess, we lookin' for you, we gon' find you, we gon' find you. So you can run and tell that, Homeboy.

Except the years that we play them
they’re either so good they can only be beaten by a top-10 team (if anyone), or they get caught sleeping by a vastly inferior team (i.e. OU at Colorado in 2007).
Yes, it’d be great to have a top-10 team every year and be able to legitimately compete with the Oklahomas of the world, but that just hasn’t been realistic for us until very recently.
For a real life example:

"I'm a genius, but I'm a misunderstood genius."
"What's misunderstood about you?"
"Nobody thinks I'm a genius."

Is it possible...
That it is a really down year in college football?
Annoying You Since 1986
Nope, it's just that some of the traditional powers like Texas aren't very good.
We haven’t been in the season long enough to have real rankings, so the polls are still based mostly on name recognition. Once conference play gets into full swing, the good teams will start to emerge in the rankings.
I'm not sure I believe in down years
But it does look like there’s a lot more parity than there usually is. 2007 redux?
missed it all
sounds like Yost dailed up a few runs…anyone go to the game? Any new formations and how did the D look? Thanks for any replies.
Honestly...
Not that many more runs. First half last week ran 11 times. This week ran 13 times. Just that the execution was much better this week.
Annoying You Since 1986
Just read
The press conference quotes on mutigers …. Something about pinkel choosing not to score…what happened at the end?
Tigers had first down and 10 from the 12 of Miami in the 4th quarter up 51-6.
They ran 4 straight quarterback sneaks to get a turnover on downs.
Annoying You Since 1986
In case you didn't see that right
they were losing 51-6.
In other words they were losing by 45 points.
What I’m trying to convey is that they were down a lot.
Losing.
Losing the football game.
The game against us.
By 45 points.

Your opinion is understood.
However, some feel, that when one team shows mercy on the other and purposefully does not score in the redzone, the other team should just run the clock out as well to get the game over with, and not try and score.
Annoying You Since 1986
are you playing devil's advocate
or are you sincerely bothered by this? you’ll have to excuse me, sometimes my sarcasm detector i set a little low, so i guess it could be that as well. we won by 38. lighten up. (unless it’s the devil’s advocate or sarcasm thing.)

Somewhere in between.
I don’t really care on this one, and can see both sides pretty well. I was more irked by the 4 qb sneak calls by Mizzou but I made that clear during the game thread and won’t go any further into it here.
Annoying You Since 1986
I don't really like the 4 straight QB sneaks...
I think the repetitiveness(is that a word) could kinda be seen as douchy, I think 2 QB sneaks and 2 weak HB draws would have made it less obvious that we were completely not trying to score. I hope that made sense.
You don't have to come and confess, we lookin' for you, we gon' find you, we gon' find you. So you can run and tell that, Homeboy.

Went to the game
Gorgeous day… couldn’t have ordered better weather. Attendance was 60,300, which made for a great atmosphere (early at least). Was sitting in the end zone where Gettis returned the pick. If they kept such records, i’m pretty sure Mizzou now has the record for the fastest score by the team that kicks off to start the game! (8 seconds) A few thoughts:
Gabbert didn’t do anything to make me less worried. He still seems to look for one or two guys, then when they’re covered, just sort of panic. He never seems to be comfortable in the pocket, and they didn’t even really get close to sacking him today.
Josey is going to be a star. Write that down. (I just did? oh. I just did. Nevermind, you don’t have to write it down)
Solid pursuit and tackling by the defense today, especially LBs and secondary.
TJ Moe got the loudest cheer from the crowd at player introductions. He’s going to be a crowd favorite for four years I have a feeling.

He won’t be for four years unless he has some horrible injuries or the NCAA has a major change of heart about how long players get to play.
He’s a Sophmore, and made some catches last year.
Nice win for the Tigers!
Listened to it on the radio. I’m really liking how improved our defense is playing, especially the secondary. If Aldon hadn’t been out it the D would’ve been even better. It’s gonna suck waiting 2 weeks for the next game but will be glad to get into the meat of the season. Go Tigers!!.
Anyone else as excited as I am to see Franklin as the starter?
He just makes the entire operation of the offense look smooth. Not since Daniel/Smith have I seen a Freshman with such command and presence out there. He’s gonna be a stud.
Gabbert has a great arm. But he just looks clumsy in our scheme.

Not to mention that Gabb gets rattled a bit too often for my liking...
…hopefully he matures a bit because the O-Line has been doing a much finer job than the numbers have been displaying.

Wouldn’t that be one for the books if Franklin ends the season our starter.
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that, but seriously…
I'm going to give BG the benefit of the doubt
until I see him play our best opponents while he’s healthy.
