- Jasper Simmons
The Trib (Dave Matter): MU suspends safety indefinitely
For those who missed the discussion yesterday, the rumor is that the suspension is alcohol-related, which ... good GOD, guys. Enough already. Luckily for Mizzou, guys like Kenji Jackson have really stepped up their game this year. Missing Simmons has not been as much of a loss as I had initially expected. So far, anyway.Missouri senior free safety Jasper Simmons has been suspended indefinitely for violating undisclosed team policies, team spokesman Chad Moller confirmed on Monday. It is not a legal situation, Moller said. Simmons has missed Missouri's last three games while recovering from surgery on his meniscus, which he tore in the Sept. 4 opener against Illinois. The junior college transfer from Pensacola, Fla., was MU's fourth-leading tackler last season.
Missouri (4-0) is off this weekend and returns to action Oct. 9 against Colorado, a 6 p.m. matchup in Columbia.

ah, pickett's charge
nothing like comparing your football team’s offense to the moment a nation started to fall.
Finds MvP RoC to be a stellar individual
Unless you're a history buff . . .
. . . all of history is just a collection of single events, with no clear picture of their collective significance.
That’s why, so often, the same mistakes are made again and again – a la this year’s Mizzou squad and alcohol-related incidents.
Apparently..
Jasper figured with his injury, and the fact that he wasn’t practicing, the no drinking on certain nights before team events rule did not apply to him. Gary did not agree.
Annoying You Since 1986
and you have a source for this, right?
sorry, couldn’t resist the low-hanging fruit.
Would be interesting if it was drinking since I believe it’s been made clear this isn’t a legal matter, and that would rule out (another) DUI. Of course, “not a legal matter” could mean “didn’t break the law” or “didn’t get caught when breaking the law, so there are no legal ramifications”, so I guess anything’s possible.

If it was drinking
perhaps he had some booze at the hotel in Jeff Friday night? Regardless, he broke a team rule. He’ll pay, and we should get over it.
Remember folks, we’re “fighting mob mentality” here. We don’t need rampant speculation on what Jasper did. Could’ve just been late to a film session or therapy session.

Ha no...
Just doing some implicatons. As I said yesterday, the guy who said it was alcohol related is the same person who broke the D Wash thing before any of the papers knew he was suspended. If it’s not a legal matter, and its drinking related, there are only so many possibilities.
Annoying You Since 1986
According to Steven St John this morning on the radio..
He was suspended for bringing alcohol into a team meeting.

You summed up my original reaction as well.
SSJ is a Mizzou fan, and not one to completely make stuff up.
Annoying You Since 1986
so he was basically suspended for aggravated stupidity
assuming SSJ is correct

If he did to that
You have to think what was he thinking. We can only hope that our players are smarter than that and show more maturity and responsibility.

My sources are clearly not the best....(wink wink)
So take it for what its worth, but there is definately word of mouth going around that he will most likely be dismissed from the program.
Annoying You Since 1986
As dumb as it seems
if the rumor is true, it doesn’t seem like something in which he should be kicked off the team for unless he’s had a history with doing dumb stuff like that and hasn’t been learning his lessons. Sit him for a couple games but don’t kick him off the team.
I'd still be a little surprised if he were booted off...
…but…I mean…WOW, is that stupid if true. I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to complain much if he were indeed booted for that. But as has been mentioned, it’s all rumors…so I’ll continue to choose not to believe somebody would be that dumb.

should I not have done that?
I tell you, I gotta plead ignorence on this thing, because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing is frowned upon… you know, cause I’ve worked in a lot of offices I played at Hutchinson Community College, and I tell you, people do that all the time.
