Wisdom of the Crowds: Bowl Season!
Your Big 12 Champion: Oklahoma. Optimistic Rock M readers picked Mizzou to easily win at Nebraska, coast away with the North title ... and still lose to Oklahoma twice. And those who picked OU, picked them to win easily. Does this qualify as Stockholm Syndrome?
- Big 12 Championship: Oklahoma def. Missouri by 16 (54.7%)
So here are your resulting 2010-11 bowl matchups. I did my best to approximate how the bowl selection process would work. Bowl opponents were determined from my FO bowl projections, going up later today.
- 2011 Tostitos BCS National Championship: Oklahoma (13-0) vs Florida (12-1)
- Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Texas (11-1) vs TCU (11-1)
- AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic: Nebraska (9-3) vs LSU (8-4). And yes, you know they would get selected over Missouri. Don't even try to argue otherwise.
- Valero Alamo Bowl: Missouri (11-2) vs Arizona (7-5)
- Insight Bowl: Texas A&M (7-5) vs Michigan State (8-4)
- Bridgeport Education Holiday Bowl: Texas Tech (8-4) vs California (7-5)
- New Era Pinstripe Bowl: Kansas State (7-5) vs Pittsburgh (8-4)
- Texas Bowl: Baylor (6-6) vs Purdue (7-5)
- Dallas Football Classic: Oklahoma State (6-6) vs Michigan (7-5)
Bowl picks after the jump!

See, at least our title game
is less crazy than Wilbon suggesting it could be TCU up there yesterday.

So I shouldn't mention...
…that I think TCU absolutely has a shot if two BCS conf. teams don’t go undefeated?

So both TCU and Boise go undefeated...and only one BCS team does
Does a 1-loss BCS team go, does TCU go or Boise go?

Undefeated Boise absolutely goes...
…thanks to the assumed win over Virginia Tech. I think that gives them the nod, unless there’s a situation where they win 2-3 WAC games by a field goal while TCU destroys everybody in sight. Barring a series of close wins, I think Boise absolutely gets in over a 1-loss BCS team (they’ve earned that status with the pollsters now). TCU, on the other hand, I’m not so sure. Utah, BYU and Oregon State should all be good this year, but that might not be enough for them in the strength of schedule department.

I won't get angry about Nebraska getting the Cotton Bowl
but if this scenario were to come to pass, I’d sure be angry about Texas in the Fiesta Bowl.

I'm not saying that they'd be a bad choice on the level of 2007
but I’d be plenty annoyed if they got a BCS game simply because they didn’t get the chance to lose to Oklahoma a second time. We’d have pretty much identical resumes.

I had that thought too
think of it this way – if there weren’t North-South divisions and Texas beats Missouri in some kind of tiebreaker to play Oklahoma for the conference championship, then loses to the Sooners. Would an 11-1 Missouri team be selected over an 11-2 Texas team that lost to Oklahoma twice? Doubtful.
There’s nothing that can be done about it, but I can’t see an 11-1 season from Missouri counting the same as an 11-1 season from Texas.

but
I don’t want to watch Florida beat OU again
How did you count my vote of..
Infinity into the average margin of victory for oklahoma?

And by the way...
Even if the huskers had lost two more, I would still put them in the cotton bowl. If the huskers win at least 7 games, there is no way they don’t go to the cotton bowl. With their last year in the big 12 and the last chance for the cotton bowl to take them, it will happen.

my druthers
I live in LA and would love to see my Tigers in the Holiday Bowl. It is a better bowl considering location and opponent. San Diego is a sweeter reward than San Antonio and that ugly dome.
11-2 and in the Alamo Bowl?
That’s infuriating. I almost don’t want to MIzzou to do that for the embarrassment.
Alamo bowl is much better bowl than it was in years past...
It’s 3rd bowl for Big 12 Teams.

OU tickets
I just ordered tickets for this game. I didn’t order them to see us lose. I think we win this game. Not sure how that will shake things up here.
