Todd McShay was on the Sportscenters this morning evaluating the draft prospects, and what he said about Gabbert almost made me spit out my Lucky Charms. I don't remember it verbatim, but it went a little something like this...
Gabbert is built like an NFL quarterback. He's smart, accurate, makes great decisions, fantastic at throwing the ball downfield, picking a spot, and letting his receiver catch it in stride. His pocket presence is phenomenal, and his ability to read a defense and make the right throw sets him apart in this draft. He might be the 20th best player, but definitely a Top 5 pick.
Now, I am a huge Gabbert fan and love to think that he will be great in the NFL. But I CAN'T just sit here and agree that he is great at throwing it downfield. And I think we can all agree that, while brilliant in flashes, his pocket presence is iffy since he loves to scramble outside.
I feel like Gabby is McShay's new fav because he watched the Insight Bowl and maybe the Oklahoma game. Anyone else feel like these accolades are a little too over the top?
