After the latest loss, Missouri is below .500 at the latest point in a season since 2002. Missouri was also 3-4 at that point in the '02 season and would go on to finish 5-7.
To avoid that fate, Mizzou must win 3 of the final 5 games. Let's look at the schedule.
Oct. 29, @ Texas A&M
Nov. 5, @ Baylor
Nov. 12, Texas
Nov. 19, Texas Tech
Nov. 26, (in KC) Kansas
The only bankable win right now is kU. Mizzou fans might have thought the next easiest opportunity for a win was TT in Columbia, but after what Tech did in Norman last night, that outcome is in even more serious doubt.
Mizzon has not shown an ability to pull an upset on the road, so the aTm and Baylor games are both likely losses. That would put Mizzou at 3-6. Mizzou would then have to win the final three games. That is certainly within their ability, but the margin of error is razor thin.
Without an upset on the road, Missouri will have to fight tooth and nail to make a bowl. A losing record is a disappointment for Mizzou fans, who figured those days were well behind them.
