Not our fault?
That’s adorable. It’s always our fault.

I'm guessing one of the Senators from No. Carolina
Angry at this slight in the press release:
Geographically, it is a natural fit as the state of Missouri touches more states (Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee) that currently are home to an SEC institution than any other state that is not in the league’s previous 13-member footprint.
There's that SEC geography for you.
Damn it, now that’s self-deprecating humor.
This may be a plot by Tennessee to completely surround themselves with SEC schools
C’mon North Carolina and Virginia, help a Volunteer out!
I'm glad I happen to be up at late-thirty
So I can be in on the ground floor of this.

Haha
I actually went to sleep immediately after I posted that. And slept rather peacefully I might add.

Well, I was up
Then I read the article, smiled to myself and went to bed. Then I woke up at 6 this morning, poured a whole pot of coffee into my face and went on about my business until my noon staff meeting, at which point I promptly fell right back to sleep.

you should check out this new product they make called 5 Hour Energy.
It’s almost as clever as pie.

Well, there it is.
What do you think the probability is that this is just placeholder in the event we do join/get asked to join? As a Mizzou fan, I refuse to believe until there is a press conference and old dudes are saying all this.

I'm not going to celebrate yet
This feels like COTG is wandering around behind the Big XII members with a baseball bat. One of us is getting hit in the head.
At least he's wearing a StL hat?

No, he can see into our "soil"
and then he picks grubs out of it and eats them on camera for the shock value.
Exact-amundo.
Les is awesome.

good to hear others agree
It is a crime against humanity that we traded Survivorman for a bunch of inferior knockoffs- ‘Bear’ (the name screams ‘tool’ by itself), that annoying man-woman wild thing, and the dual survival one, which is OK but no damn Survivorman.
The one man, one camera approach is so much better than the rigged, ’let’s put him in a survival situation!’ crap. I wouldn’t be surprised if some moron TV cheese decided Les wasn’t pretty or exciting enough to carry a series. So we get contrived conflict and psuedo ‘survival’ instead of a guy actually stuck by himself somewhere actually surviving.
Well, if he offers you lemonade,
I’d suggest you decline. Politely, of course.

To me is seems like they were pretty much expecting us to announce
last Monday during or after the Big 12 meeting or with Deaton’s interview on KFRU. I wish we could get this over with. The more it all dangles in the air the more uncomfortable I am feeling about it all.
consider it "tying up the legal loose ends."
every moment of delay could save the university thousands of dollars if done correctly.

This is far more minor than the clown show at the head of the Big 12
But it feels karmic that this comes out after all the dumping on the Big 12’s total lack of message discipline today.
If the SEC was trying to insulate themselves against a lawsuit for poaching other conferences by waiting until MU left the Big 12 to formally invite them, well, they just handed Ken Starr a cannon he can fire in their face right after they score a touchdown.
They could just say this was put in place “In the event Missouri decides to leave the Big 12 and apply to the SEC”. I don’t think there would be any legal leverage here. But I’m not a lawyer….

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannd, the lawyers are off and running!
To SEC, or not to SEC, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous Texas,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?
I sure wish we could know everything that was said at that meeting on Monday.
To have the SEC prepared to welcome Mizzou and to have the Big 12 go as far as they did with WVU… Even the wording that Deaton used indicated the move was just about a done deal. I have a hard time to think it is only a ploy for exit fees. With Colorado and the Nubs leaving last year and aTm this year plus having WVU as replacement (thus indicating a lesser impact), our exit fees should not logically be anymore then those that have already left.

To play the devil's advocate, what if Deaton's comment about using heads vs hearts means what many will go irrate about? To stay?
What if the list of conditions for us to stay have been met in the eyes of Deaton? The wind taken out of the sails for the arguement to go, (Yeah, right!). There are many forces out there that is more influencial then just our fan base. A fan base that is worked up because of current opinions and feelings. Did everybody hate the Big 12 soooo much prior to 3-4 years ago? If the question was posed as to what would it take to make Mizzou happy enough to stay, what would be the answer? 1) Potential long term earnings 2) Equality in revenue 3) Unfair advantages. 4) Stability 5) Best chances to better the Mizzou brand.. i.e. chances for National Championships 6) Social & cultural fit 7) Trust.
What if the introduction the Big 12 network and other incentives were to equalize the amount of potential revenue from the SEC? This was reportedly on the table. Revenue sharing was obviously discussed and agreed upon. What if LHN network were to be scrutinized better, atleast to the level of other schools with a 3rd tier system? (Let’s face it, there are others- like BYU, ND, Florida and there will be others-like Okl that we will/could deal with no matter where we go. Even though Texas is the biggest giant bull in the room). Again, possibly discussed. What if the shackles of six years were increased for better stability? Either conference could get us a National Championship, if we play well enough, so kind of a mute point. The social and cultural fit tends to lean on the side of the Big 12 but that can be debated and we could fit in both. The history can, however, be a factor.
One of the last issues would be trust, which after all the preventive measures are in place, only time and communication could heal those wounds. The proof and examples can and have been proven to lead us to be rightfully bitter and gun shy of trusting mainly Texas and Oklahoma but if I through my hands up and walked away from everyone in my business that has some benefit to my company because mistrust, I would or could end up out in the cold. Do not tolerate bad business, just safe guard and prevent it.
So, we stomped around all angry to have these changes made, what if the stomping was successful? At what point would it be considered successful (besides going where a majority would want to go- the SEC)?
by McZou on Oct 28, 2011 10:22 AM CDT via mobile reply actions
you mean like:
- 20 year grant of tv rights
- create B12 Network
- severe LHN restrictions, ie no conference games
- expand back to 12
- conference offices back to KC
- bring back CCG and rotate it in KC every other year
sounds like a win
