So far we've heard two main reasons why kU won't continue the rivalry:

1) In football, kU needs to rebuild the program, so the money they'd receive for the annual beat down isn't as valuable as a win over a mid-major would be for this rebuilding era.

2) In basketball, kU would keep more money (wait, money matters in college sports???) by scheduling a mid-major and beating the tar out of them.

So in one case (where kU is outclassed) they need the win.  In the other (where kU is more likely to win) they need the money.

WTF?

You'll notice Mizzou doesn't say they need the win (basketball) or the money (football home game in Columbia.).  Mizzou just wants the opportunity to play and win.  kU doesn't.

Then only conclusion can be drawn:

Jayhawks are cowards.
