New Helmet?
So this picture exists. If these are fake, it's pretty convincing.

Love. It.
Yes, it’s outrageous, but very well done.

It actually looks okay from the side
but it looks terrible from the front, and I imagine the back as well. If they could somehow bend it around the whole helmet so it looked good from all angles, I would be okay with it.

if they do them as a once a year Pro Combat thing, i'm ok with it
but to let a logo i’ve never liked (almost) literally SWALLOW the one part of our uniforms that i’ve always liked (whether it’s gold or white) would be too much.

Not with me
I love change, but not for the sake of changing. If it’s not broke don’t fix it and if you do fix it make sure you don’t f*** it up!
these are awesome
there are so many college teams that have a traditional logo or letter on their helmet (ie M) but this is well ahead of the pack and makes us stick out.

Said these were designed by someone at their site, using leaked information to create them. But they are not appealing at all.

I really need the Tigers to win at least 8 games next year, so I can get some of these Beaks off my back. I have been very sympathetic to their points about KC & the Big 12 but now I need them to shut their bird traps

What I don't understand is
How Kansas claims our rivalry belongs to the big XII. I guarantee you it started a LONG time before 1996

"Slow down coach, you're going too fast."-Max McGee
Rumor I heard
Was something similar to the Boise helmets with the big horse on one side and blank on the other. Guess if these had the tiger logo on only one side that would fall in line with those rumors. I’d be ok with them for one game but for the love of all things holy, keep the gold M on the black helmet.
Some people say "hate" is a strong word. If you're talking about kansas, it's not strong enough.
Having it on one side would be much better
What we have in this picture is a helmet-mask, it’s an abomination. And I don’t even care about the M.
by Transmogrified Tiger on Dec 18, 2011 9:31 PM CST up reply actions
Helmet should be untouchable.
Maybe you could change the color inside the “M” back to its original white. The striping scheme has been essentially the same since approximately 1960.
anyone know when the last time the helmet changed?
i believe its long over due for our helmet design to evolve.
this may not be the correct design but it is coming so….

Yeah, alabama fans are clamoring for change, too.
pfft, c’mon, now.

Our Tiger is better than yours
Guess with the move to the SEC, all things change…we will have a helmet that looks like it can devour the foe. And since today is my birthday, I accept this gift. You haters go on hatin’.
NOOOO
Don’t mess with the classic M!

This helmet design is NOT official.
Got the info from the guy making this design in photoshop, on his own, who is posting it on the PM site as his design/suggestion and he says it’s 100% NOT OFFICIAL.
Guy says he doesn’t know who Derek Harshner is, but Harshner is mis-representing this as the official new helmet.
I have met Harshner
he is a long-time poster on Tigerboard, but has no connection to the AD. The guy is a sales rep for a painting company.

Front the front,
it looks like our tiger was cross-bred with a shark. The eyes are way too far apart. Would love to see how it would look with the tiger only on one side. I think maybe put numbers on the other.
Will say though, do we really want to be seen as followers of Boise State? Like the design, but I feel that this type of design fits more with a school that hasn’t been around very long, and uses electric blue and orange as their school colors.
I like them, but i liked marylands too so i know im in the minority.
I wouldnt mind them going to those pro combats we had in like 08. i thought those were the shit.

I love our helmets,
esp the stripes. That said, if our athletic dept is set on scrapping them, well this design looks way better than any boise inspired creation I can think of.
No
If this is real I’m transferring schools. I don’t want to be the laughing stock of the SEC.

you base your college choice on the schools helmet design? I think you have much bigger issues to deal with..just saying

From the horses mouth...
Hello everyone… go easy on me – my first post on RMN… long time PM subscriber.
I designed the helmet that… unannounced to me… suddenly spread like wildfire on this forum and on Twitter. The helmet was designed for fun – and was very much a “rough draft”… it was never intended to be distributed in any way…
I have done design work for the AD/University in the past, and do have a few connections within the U… but these designs are not based on any “secret” information or anything like that…. pure conjecture on my part, really.
I am also a big fan of the classic “M” on the helmet – and don’t want them to change it… but I’ve heard from too many places that it’s leaving the building… and figured I would just accept it and see how good the “Power Tiger” could look on a helmet.
Anyway… here’s some more refined options that I’ve been playing with.

This (these?) look better....
…than the ones at the top. Maybe it’s because they don’t go all the way to the front of the helmet?
I’m guessing it—whatever “it” ends up being—will get the same reception that Maryland’s….“creative”….helmets got this year: old geezers (as in anyone over 30) will think they suck, the young guns (especially the players and recruits) will like it.
The “special” helmets that UGA wore against Boise really did not go over well here in GA. When Bama did theirs last year, they didn’t look that much different (had houndstooth in the numbers on the jerseys & helmets, but kept the crimson base).
Now, I’m trying to imagine what white would look like in the gray areas…

So are you funnin around or is there a real chance the Tigers could be sporting these?
Are you on the inside where they would consider using these?
I really hope we’d get exactly this on the next helmet. I think they would be the coolest helmets in the country.

Yeeeeah I gotta say I think the gray does help.
And the image being smaller and toward the back makes it look much less busy.
WOW!
Late to the party (camping/hunting all weekend)………WOW. The second is much better IMO. Still, just for 1 game, not permanent.
