Upset Pick of the Week: Missouri over Kansas, Saturday.
OK, so maybe this isn't fair considering that Mizzou should probably be the favorite every time it plays at home. But based on rankings, this would certainly be a mild upset. Missouri desperately needs some momentum going into the Big 12 tournament and we've seen what beating KU has done for Kansas State. The Tigers can fluster Kansas on the perimeter if they get the fastest 40 minutes of basketball moving. Of course, to pull this off, they must rebound and get out on the break as quickly as possible. Losing to Mizzou may have some seed implications for Kansas, so the Jayhawks have plenty at stake, as well.
You know, I've always liked that Andy Katz fella.

This just gives me a reason to post the following.

"Missouri desperately needs some momentum"
I mean … I agree that we need to avoid losing because of the negative seeding consequences, but … we’ve won four of five and five of seven. Our only losses since February 2 have been at Kansas and at Kansas State. That is, generally speaking, momentum.
i was thrown off by that line too.
a prime example of national writers looking at nothing besides the rankings.

I think "desperate" might have been a bit strong
But we certainly don’t want to be heading intil the Big XII Tourney having lost three straight. I say if we lose at Nebraska, then we will be desperate to beat KU. 9-7 would be good for the 4th seed, assuming it’s loss at NU and win v. KU.

“Pinkel Can’t Adjust!” seems to have been replaced by some combination of “CMA can’t recruit!” or “Mizzou is going to the NIT!”

CMA can't take us to the next level.
Sure he won a Big 12 championship (Cotton Bowl) and took us to the Elite 8 (#1 Ranking going into the Big 12 Championship) and he may have our program headed in the right direction, but we haven’t won a National Championship, a Big 12 regular season title or even been to a Final Four! I refuse to accept mediocrity
Also, thankfully this story is about kU basketball and not OU Football. Could you imagine how much disrepect play Stoops could have gotten out of something like this?!?
"I refuse to accept mediocrity"
That’s one of my favorites. He just this year brought in his best recruiting class, but he’s already peaked as a coach? ever

it's my favorite as well.
I like the idea of if we don’t win the Big 12 we are mediocre. And that not going into a straight panic about it is accepting it.
Scoreboard.

We all understand what being a Mizzou fan is like. That’s no excuse for being a douche.

some fool out west is going to come here and burn Columbia down….well, maybe just business loop. No, just the Mall. OK, they’re too lazy to do it.
What do you mean I can't retire at 32?

Gentlemen, let's not get ahead of ourselves
Let’s send the Nubs packing first and then we can focus on the Beakers.

WE can focus on whatever we want.
As long as the PLAYERS are focusing on Nebraska.

as long as the team is focusing on the Nubs...
I don’t think it matters if we focus on the Beakers.
