So I've also heard that Bishop Daniels might also try and get out
Of his LOI from Miami to follow Frank to Mizzou, and if this is true, than would we really need a shooting guard for this 2011 basketball class? I mean if we don’t get Otto, I guess, but one team this team really doesn’t need more of it’s shooting guards. I hope Frank’s got a good plan in store for the last spot.
Looking beyond 2011-12...
…one could see how we would want to have a non-freshman wing guard in stock after Denmon, English and M. Pressey leave…
Yeah. I'm still thinking we really need a big man in this class.
And don’t really see Otto as that big boy who will get down low and bang with the other teams’ uglies. Maybe Kadeem will? But you do bring up a really good point though. Man we are going to be inexperienced in 2 years. Hopefully Kreklow will be the experienced wing guy by then?

We only really need one big though
6 posts leaves you too light at the guard spot in today’s college game. If it’s not Porter, it’ll be somebody as long as there’s that spot to give.

I was typing a response when this popped up...
and I had forgotten about Kadeem Green. Perhaps if CFH can solve Steeeeeve’s foul problems, we can survive with 2 at one big position (Steve, Ricardo?) and 2 at the other (L-Bo, Green) with whatever one big we get in for this class (OTTO PORTER PLEASE READ THIS). I feel a little better at this moment about roster makeup.

Kadeem's hopefully 100% recovered,
and we’ll need him to be for next year IMO.

Concur-
and I didn’t specifically state, but my initial reaction was exactly the same as yours

In agreement . . .
. . . if CFH’s offense does not require the frantic pace of the previous five years, and there is an increased emphasis on stopping opposing guards before they get into the paint to draw fouls from our bigs, I think Steve and Ricardo can team up to establish a very strong inside defense and adequate offense from the five position, leaving Bowers and Green to fill the four role with off-the-ball shot blocking and rebounding, and a strong offensive presence.
Any addition to that will just be gravy for this year and steak for next year.
Go Mizzou!

The good news is that the Kimbro kid is 6'6".
Exactly what we need if he can defend. We don’t have to deal with Burks anymore but Middleton was tough on us as well. We still need a big but this kind of size on the perimeter is a help.
Don't Haith the player, Haith the game.
To go with above BBall-player speculations
Any news or rumblings about when a staff is going to be announced for CFH? I feel like that in these turbulent times, with recruiting and transfer battles being fought all over the place, the quicker ADMA can assemble a stable team around CFH; the better. Right?
Bet me!
That's what I initially thought...
…then I started looking at general timelines for assistant hires in the past. Obviously Mike Anderson came equipped with his own staff, but that doesn’t usually happen. For instance, it took Quin a week to make his first hire and a couple of months to complete the staff (securing commits from Josh Kroenke and Kareem Rush in the meantime). I guess for 2011 recruiting purposes, you’re not really going to find any assistants who have personal connections with 2011 recruits (otherwise said recruits would have already committed to whatever school said assistant is with), so any commit Haith gets this month is going to be because of Haith, not assistants with connections. That made me feel a little better, though it does mean that my “surely we’ll hear something by the weekend” prediction of last week was very incorrect.
Apparently on Tiger Talk Haith said he had 2 signed
with a contract being completed for a third, won’t release the names until it’s all done. Heard this summary over on Tigerboard, so who really knows. I’d like to think it’s true.

Is it wrong that I check the Louisville bio page for Tim Fuller
Every day, to see when it is pulled down? ( http://www.uoflsports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/fuller_tim00.html )
BTW, Virginia Union Univ, just promoted from within for their new head coach, and AP is no longer listed on their website’s staff directory. ( http://vuusports.vuu.edu/coaches.aspx?path=mbball& )
Addicted, you say?

Battle for Black Jersey video...
anyone else notice James Franklin killing the rest of the offense in up downs at the end! Can you say quick?
do you have a link for this?
not doubting you, but I – as I’m sure all Tiger fans – have grown weary of stories on the internet citing to “sources”
Yeah, same here
I was actually just looking him up last night and all I see is that he visited Georgetown. Doesn’t seem to be any new info this morning.

And apparently on their message boards. Not sure if this will link there, have trouble doing that from my phone.

NVM, all false rumors.
Per Gabe tweet. Damn sources/Mizzou attitude.
by TheHamburglar on Apr 12, 2011 9:19 AM CDT up reply actions
Incorrect
The story from georgetown rivals that I saw said a “source” said they felt confident he would commit but also admitted his first lean was MU and he was still going to meet Haith and that he also had a visit scheduled to KU. He has not committed or verbaled. It is a “source”.

Thanks for this tip . . .
. . . now I just need to know how to build a filter to block these geniuses out. :-)
Twitter rumors for the win!
Nothing get’s RMN hoppin’ like a bunch of rumors with “sources.” Which reminds me, one person says Haith plans to hire Tim Fuller an Dave Leitao as assistant coaches. But, another group of people say Fuller is going to NC State. Anyone else have any information one way or the other? I will accept “sources” for an answer.
Anyone else tired of reading NFL fans "take" on Blaine?
I know there were some things about his play that gave us all pause, but dude is a freak of an athlete and throws one of the prettiest balls i’ve ever seen. All of the issues he had at Mizzou seem eminently fixable to me. Sick of reading Panthers, Bills, and Cardinals fans calling him a bust and saying he should be a 2nd rounder.
by JohnMatuszakloveschunk on Apr 12, 2011 9:54 AM CDT reply actions
Yeah, that's a little much
Although I never really thought of him as a top 5 pick while he was here at Mizzou. He had all the tools to be a high pick, but I never thought he put them all together for an extended period of time. That being said, it’s a think QB class this year, and everyone has a good deal of issues (Cam Newton’s character, Ryan Mallet’s consistency, Jake Locker’s inability to be a good QB, etc), so I’m not surprised Gabbert has risen this high. That being said, I wish he was a lower pick, ‘cause I’m not sure anyone can succeed on those three teams in the near future…I guess Arizona is the best near the top looking for a QB. The Bills and Panthers have a LOT of other issues to fix first.
I disagree
I think the Panthers could be very good in a short time. With Rivera as head coach, they should be playing good D. They have great RBs, a solid o-line, and Smith is still a pretty good receiver if he has a decent QB.
I think their QB situation was absolutely atrocious and injuries did not help them. I don’t think they are fabulous but they could be 8-8 or 9-7 with a decent QB. Put Blaine there and get him another receiver next year and they could be a pretty good offense with Stewat and Goodson as RBs. That is not accounting for they may bring back D-Will next year but I doubt that happens.
On the other hand, the BIlls are horrible and the Bengals are ran like a circus.
Mike Alden
I don’t know if anyone else has reported this yet but I saw Mike Alden and a couple other guys in Mizzou gear walking down the terminal in Detroit’s airport yesterday. Does anyone know why he would have been flying through/visiting Detroit? I think CFH was with him but not entirely sure (I would say I’m 25 confident it was CFH).

Now the reports are
That Porter’s HS coach has confirmed that Porter either has or plans to commit to G’Town. Still not 100% on it, but seems more likely now than an hour or two ago, from the number of people reporting it. That being said, I’m just glad he didn’t go to kU. I’d hate to see him across the court from us twice a season and wondering what could have been if we had secured him.
