Caption This Apr-22 PhillieBot - Philadelphia On Wednesday, the Phillies inviting PhillieBot, a one-armed, three-wheeled robot designed by engineers at the University of Pennsylvania, to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The robot was built for the Philadelphia Science Festival, a two-week festival celebrating science and technology. Though the robot is unlikely to remind anyone of Roy Halladay (the pitch reached home plate on a bounce), it still registers as the most unique opening to a game this season. Here are some other noteworthy ceremonial first pitches so far this year. Photo: SI's Memorable First Pitches of 2011 Season gallery Robots and Baseball - it is our destiny. Please give this young pioneer and his creation a caption. Congratulations to MVPRoC for winning the Thursday Contest. You get Denmoney and the opportunity to view that elusive video of ZouDave's sister. Captions! RECs! Binary Solo!
