Points of interest on this rainy Sunday...
Have you heard? Mizzou Softball won the Big 12 yesterday!
Before the final inning of the Missouri softball team’s doubleheader sweep over Iowa State yesterday, the senior catcher approached Kristin Nottelmann.
"Kristin," Christopher told the pitcher, "we’re going to strike the last girl out, and we’re going to come out and dogpile you. We’re going to make this look good."
Nottelmann’s bemused reply: "No."
It was time for Plan B. When Nottelmann recorded the last out on a grounder to second base, Christopher tore off her mask and simply ran like mad into a joyous fray wondering, "Who am I going to jump on?"
"Holy cow," she said, "we finally did it."
Mizzou Wrestling Is An MMA Factory
Michael Chandler won the Bellator lightweight tournament yesterday (over a guy named Pitbull, no less), moving to 9-0, earning a title shot against Bellator champ Eddie Alvarez, and, we're pretty sure, maintaining Mizzou's perfect record at the MMA level. Ben Askren is obviously ridiculous, Tyron Woodley is thriving, and now Chandler is making a killing as well. Can we get some sort of title trophy for this?
Mizzou Plays Villanova in the Jimmy V Classic Next Season
As Frank Haith's family gets ready to make the move to mid-Missouri, it came out that Mizzou will be playing in The Garden next season against the nation's other primary collapse victim from this past spring, Jay Wright's Villanova Wildcats. 'Nova has to replace a lot more than Missouri this coming season, so hopefully that means a marquee win for Haith and the Tigers. We'll see.
