Missouri at #35 after Winter Sports in Learfield Director's Cup Standings
If you are not familiar with the Learfield Director's Cup, it is an annual attempt to rank overall Athletic Department achievement across each division of the NCAA. Every sport that is recognized by the NCAA is ranked, and teams are assigned point values relative to their final rankings in those sports.
National Championship: 100 points
2nd: 90 points
3rd: 85 points
4th: 80 points
And so on...
Two comments of note: There is a President, 3 Vice Presidents and a Secretary of this organization, and Mike Alden is "3rd Vice President"). There are 248 ranked teams.
Missouri's previous best finish was in 2008-2009 with a 36th place finish, Mizzou finished 49th last season.
As of April 21, after the close of all Winter Sports (next rankings due next Friday - June 3), Missouri is currently ranked #35 with 386.3 points (Stanford is #1 with 1048.50, tOSU is 2nd with 866.3)
While Missouri has, frankly, zero chance of winning the Director's cup this season, we might have a great chance of finishing in the top-20. How? You might ask? Well, we are currently 82.2 points from 20th. A top 3 finish by the Tremendous Stubblets would put us within striking distance, before even calculating any other sports (granted, everyone from 20th - 34th will ALSO bet getting points, but I said "might" not "do").

Missouri will never be in a position to win this...
If you look at the standings, it includes sports such as Lacrosse (both sexes), Water Polo (both sexes), Hockey (both sexes), Field hockey (women only), Men’s Soccer, Men’s Tennis. Mizzou simply does not participate in those sports. Stanford, tOSU and most of the tomp ten participate in MANY more sports than we do. That is why Stanford wins the stupid thing every year.
There is a God and I'm not it, after that EVERYTHING is subjective. Be careful for what you wish for, you just might GET IT!
No, Mizzou will never be in a position to win this
but we can put ourselves in some pretty elite company by finishing at or near the top-25 consistently.
