As many of you know, the Baseball team won the first game in Lincoln and sent NU off to the Big 10. The Cornpones plus the Chickenhawks failed to qualify for the Big 12 Tournament in OKC. Mizzou ended up with the 8th seed.
The tournament format has changed BACK to the double-elimination format it was for the first ten years of the tournament. Mizzou is in the Bracket "A" with #1 seed Texas, #4 Oklahoma State and #5 Baylor.
After the jump, I will show everyone how the Baseball Tigers did against the teams in this year's tournament.
#1 Seed Texas: (in Austin) Lost 5-4, lost 5-2, lost 10-1 April 1-3.
#2 Seed Texas A&M: (in Columbia) Won 10-9, won 9-1, lost 3-2 (7 innings) April 29-May 1.
#3 Seed Oklahoma: (in Columbia) Lost 3-1, won 2-1 (11 innings) March 25.
#4 Seed Oklahoma State: (in Stillwater) Lost 3-2, lost 4-1, lost 7-3 April 8-10.
#5 Seed Baylor: (in Waco) Won 4-2, lost 6-3, won 10-1 April 21-23.
#6 Seed Kansas State: (in Manhattan) Won 5-4, lost 8-5, won 12-8 May 6-8.
#7 Seed Texas Tech: (in Columbia) Won 11-1, lost 6-4, won 4-3 May 13-15.
Mizzou against non-tournament teams...
#9 Nebraska: (in Lincoln) Won 10-5, lost 4-3, lost 8-5 May 19-21.
#10 K*****: (in Kansas City/Columbia) Lost 7-1 (in KC), lost 8-3, won 3-2, lost 6-0.
Despite the record against the other teams in it's pool, the Tigers were in every game they played against it's same bracket foes (not counting the Sunday game at UT). If the Tigers can win the first day against UT, they will have a shot to win the whole thing. But they HAVE to win that first game.
Mizzou vs. UT at 12:30 (approx. time). You can listen to the voices of Tex Little and Hunter Mense at KTGR.com.
