Pinkel also responded to a question about his name being mentioned in the Ohio State coaching search.
“There’s 5,000 names probably up for that. I grew up in Ohio and I have great respect for Jim Tressel, too. It’s very unfortunate what happened and how everything came down. I’m the head football coach at the University of Missouri and I’m committed to trying to continue to build the program and make it better and better. And that’s what I intend to do.’’

so since everyone and their brother thinks the NCAA
should approve the Joplin game, the actual chances are, what, 1 percent they do so?
So because I am
a Fan of Very Little Brain, why can they not organize a Mizzou Alumni team to play an exhibition? I mean, there are a number of alumni that are either in or frequent CoMo (JT, Keith Ramsey, Matt Lawrence, Zaire Taylor, for instance) and if you broaden the net just a little bit, you’ve got some legendary Mizzou personalities that, even if they can’t play would probably love to be part of it (Derrick Chievous, Mr. Magic, etc.) . . .
Is there something that says that these recent guys can’t pull on a Mizzou jersey for exhibition purposes?

They might be able to do that...
…but I assume it would be a much better draw to have the real team there.
I'm pretty sure they can't play without approval either
NCAA says you get two exhibition games per year. Both teams already have two scheduled (I think). So unless they wanted to back out of one to play our alumni team, they couldn’t do it either.
