M-I-Z... E-R-Y: Cole Aldrich vs Tyrady Morningreed

More Kansas players? More Kansas players.

Cole Aldrich

He committed 26 fouls per game, he highlighted Mizzou's biggest weakness, and he went 5-1 versus the Tigers. But on the bright side, he was part of an enjoyable April Fool's Day, so he's got that going for him at least...
Tyrady Morningreed

One of them, usually Tyrel Reed, always seemed to kill Missouri. In the six games in which these two players played a major role, Kansas averaged an 81-67 win over Mizzou. Brady Morningstar averaged only 4.7 points, but with 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Reed, meanwhile, made 15 of 27 3-pointers, averaged 10.2 points and made the dagger at Mizzou Arena this past March. Like Kirk Hinrich, Reed's final shot in Columbia was a killer. And though Mizzou fans hated the Morris twins and everybody else associated with these teams (except Josh Selby), they held something in reserve for these two. Always with the white people, ahem...

This is like picking which child you hate most.
You’re supposed to hate them equally, right?

I will say I respected Cole Aldrich while at Kansas
He’s what any dad would want his kid to do. He was smart, and excelled at the fundamentals with limited athleticism. I hate Kansas but appreciated how Aldrich played. A poor mans Tim Duncan to me. Reed/Morningstar on the other hand had something about them. Couldnt stand either of the two. They get my vote hands down

@Bill C.....
Re: that whole Aldrich to the Rafters busines…that WAS a horrendous April Fools’ joke, right???
Because you saying this: “I think Norm’s April 1 resignation killed April Fools Day for Mizzou fans forever. It would be silly to even try to make jokes on this day after that. This was just coincidence.” threw me for a loop.
Sweet tap-dancing Christ, please tell me you were joking….

This was easy for me.
Morningstar and Reed are what some friends in HS called “Mirror Dudes.” A Mirror Dude is a person that causes you to look in the mirror and have no choice but to say “I am cooler/better than him!”
Aldrich was a lurch for sure but the Mirror Dudes are an easy call plus 2 for 1!
Kansas loves Missouri as every parasite has to have a host.
Can we get a full bracket so we can see the full breakdown?

At least Aldrich never did anything illegal.
I think my hate for all 3 of those guys is equally high, but Morningstar’s DUI (and his father’s connection with the ticket scandal) pushes Trady Morningreed over Aldrich.
aldrich is a no-brainer for me.
a tiger killer extraordinaire. just a shade below najera for me.

Looked back at the whole bracket
By my count, 21 of 32 entries are basketball related. To the community…why do we have more memorable/hate-able moments and people in the sport of basketball than any other? I’m guessing it’s that a) there are fewer basketball players on the court at once than players on a football field, so it’s easier to single out one player; 2) we were much better at basketball for so long, until the last 8 years; 3) ku is better at b-ball than football, and we hate them; 4) maybe it’s just the moments and the luck. Anyone else agree with these theories, or have any of their own? I’m just curious, simply because we have self-described our fanbase as one that cares most about football success over anything else.

Well, there are more basketball games so more chances for hateable moments.
And since you play against the teams and thus the players and coaches more, there’s more instances for hate to grow. And also it’s just kind of chance that we’ve had stuff like Athena and Ricky Clemons happen in basketball. And I also agree with your 3rd point, it’s a lot easier to hate kansas when they always beat us in basketball as of late.
I think you hit every good reason on the head.

My favorite thing to hate about Brady Morningstar:
is that his name is synonymous with Lucifer.
Use of the name “Lucifer” for the devil stems from a particular interpretation of Isaiah 14:3–20, a passage that does not speak of any fallen angel but of the defeat of a particular Babylonian King, to whom it gives a title that refers to what in English is called the Day Star or Morning Star (in Latin, lucifer).2 In 2 Peter 1:19 and elsewhere, the same Latin word lucifer is used to refer to the Morning Star, with no relation to the devil. It is only in post-New Testament times that the Latin word Lucifer was used as a name for the devil, both in religious writing and in fiction, especially when referring to him prior to his fall from Heaven.
Yeah its only in a round-about way, but I’ll still take it when referencing that guy.
