One piece is off the board - Durron Neal commits to Oklahoma
Per his coach at DeSmet. Now, Missouri has gotten some of their biggest stars in the last few years after they have committed to other schools, and Jeremy Maclin committed to OU first, but as fans, we should assume that Neal is gone.
Promoted because, um, dagger.

On the bright side, Parkway North LB Donavin Newsom
has committed to Mizzou – per PowerMizzou.
WELCOME TO MIZZOU DONAVIN!!
While he’s not the big name that Neal is, we’ve had great recruiting at LB the last few years, so I’m sure Donavin will be a great get for our team.

there was a rumor a while back that Neal and DGB wanted to play together in college
I don’t know if it was true or not, and I heard that about a year ago so things could have certainly changed. Either way, stay out of our State. Can’t you just pilfer Texas and leave our recruits alone?

Sorry, I knew I wouldn’t be very popular around here right now. I’ve also heard that rumor and hope beyond hope that it’s true (obviously). Honestly though, I could see this being a deal where Neal possibly switches to you guys sometime before signing day. I’m excited about the news, but until that signed LOI gets faxed in I’m going to worry about this one.
Oh, and if we do somehow wind up getting Kiel and DGB as well I’ll be sure to stay away :)

if you get Kiel, Neal and DGB I don't think we can be friends anymore
and that would be truly unfortunate for you. I’m a pretty lousy friend and don’t offer anything in the way of insight, humor, compassion or even just being the crazy guy you know. But I will borrow money from you in $5 increments always claiming to “get you later” but at the same time never having my wallet on me. So yeah, I think you should probably call Stoops and tell him to back off.

I can honestly say...
…that when it comes to Neal, it’s going to be a “We’ll see on Signing Day” situation, and I was thinking that even before today’s commitment. He’s shown in interviews that he loves the attention and loves every visit that he goes on…he’s a good kid, but he’s woo-able. Obviously now I hope I’m right (whereas if he’d committed to Mizzou today, I’d be busy convincing myself I was wrong), but we’ll see.

He did say today he wasn’t going on any more visits, but I think we all know he can’t be held to that.

I really feel after reading the article on his family situation that DGB would thrive at Mizzou

From a general momentum standpoint, I sort of agree that it would help to have a QB commit...
…but at the same time, Franklin will only be two years ahead of him, and he was a four-star recruit himself.
Franklin having a good season this year is the single biggest thing Mizzou can do rright now to woo DGB.
