... Thereby being free of UTexas in a proactive move to get out of the XII-II before it implodes/explodes/disintegrates?
... And joining THE best conference in the country?
... And avoiding being stuck in the post-XII-II scramble to join a super MWC/BigEast/Conf.USA???
WHAT SAY YOU?
With expansion only to 14 instead of 16 teams, the SEC could stick with two divisions, with round-robin play within each for Football, with one cross-division rival as it is currently done.
Current cross-division rivals are as follows:
CURRENT 12-Team SEC |
|
Team |
Present Rival |
Alabama |
Tennessee |
Arkansas |
South Carolina |
Auburn |
Georgia |
Florida |
Louisiana State |
Georgia |
Auburn |
Kentucky |
Mississippi State |
Louisiana State |
Florida |
Mississippi State |
Kentucky |
Ole Miss |
Vanderbilt |
South Carolina |
Arkansas |
Tennessee |
Alabama |
Vanderbilt |
Ole Miss |
Everyone in the SEC would appear to be on-board with moving Auburn to the East. If that were the case, then Bama and Auburn would need to be each other's cross-division rival, and Georgia would need a new West rival. My guess is that none of the other current cross-division rivalries is sacrosanct, so the teams could probably be expected either to agree to each choosing a particular cross-division rival for all-time, or perhaps agree to change them up every five years or so.
Who would you want as Mizzou's cross-division rival?
Kentucky?
Tennessee?
Vandy?
Georgia?
Florida?
South Carolina?
