More raves for Kony Ealy ... more raves for Corbin Berkstresser ... must be another day of practice reports! Matter's story on Elvis Fisher is worth spending a click on it as well.

The Trib (Dave Matter): Camp Chronicles: More work for Moe?
PowerMizzou: Tuesday Practice ReportIt's an unwritten rule for practiced journalists not to divulge potentially sensitive details (formations, trick plays, etc.) that unfold during preseason practices, which I've always considered a price worth paying for the wide-open access Pinkel grants during the preseason. It's his office we're allowed to visit to see how things operate. But if we steal any staplers or paper clips, the office door will close in a hurry. Are the Tigers working on some wrinkles that they dabbled with during spring practices? Yes. And my guess is you'll see them come Sept. 3. That's about as much as there is to share.
Finally, a feel-good note. I talked to Munir Prince, who is serving as the GA for Offensive Quality Control for Missouri. He told me a lot of his duties have to do with making sure game plans, scouting reports, etc., are all in and up to date. He approached Pinkel about possibly joining the staff about five months ago.
"He called me about two weeks into July and he said, 'Munir, we've got a job for you if you are ready to go' and I was ready to go," Prince said. "I wouldn't have joined this if I didn't want to be a coach. The work I do now is hard. Well, it's not hard, it's just time consuming. If I didn't want to be a coach, I wouldn't be doing it." - Practice Multimedia

A&M is the 7 who thinks she's a 10, always threatening to leave. What self-respecting guy wants that kind of relationship?
So in the last three weeks or so, ATM folks have started more rumors regarding their departure from the Big 12 than Mizzou did in six months of MIZZOUEXPANSIONAPALOOZA™ last summer (and yes, if you're not a Twitter person, and if you ignore I Am the 12th Man, then you missed yet another "OMG THEY'RE TOTALLY DRAWING UP THE PAPERS! WE'RE LEAVING. IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN SOON. REALLY, YOU GUYS" rumorfest. And like the others, it turned out to be 97% bluster. It's getting a bit embarrassing at some point because, again, you cannot force this thing to happen (as it might one day) just because you're tired of waiting. But for any further points, just check out TB's post below. He says everything I could think to say, including pointing out that ATM-to-SEC and Texas-as-Independent are not nearly as rosy and cheery for those schools as some fans are wanting to think.
As for Travis Lewis' injury ... 1) It's "up to eight weeks," and Mizzou-OU is just 6.5 weeks away, so there's a decent chance he's back by then anyway, and 2) Even without him, we're still not winning in Norman. Why? Because nobody does. Go into that game with no expectations, please, even if we're 3-0 and averaging 40-point wins.

I don't like the negativity regarding our trip to Norman,
I prefer unabashed optimism, please!
Top Heavy Beer Drinker
Me neither
Yes, Oklahoma loses in Norman. Maybe not very often, but even Kansas loses in the Phog. It’s going to be a tough game, but let’s not surrender before it happens. I would remind the group that most of you thought Oklahoma would win last year as well. And by most of you, I mean not me.
You should know by now...
…that I never bet against streaks. The last time OU lost at home, Brad Smith was still Missouri’s quarterback. The last time OU lost at home in conference, Kirk Farmer was Missouri’s quarterback. Can they lose there? Of course. Will they one day? Of course. But I’ll repeat the most important part of what I said above: just go into the game with no expectations. Let whatever happens be a (hopefully pleasant) surprise.
I don't think we are asking you to put your life savings down on Mizzou in that game
(Although it would be very entertaining if you DID and I fully encourage it), but to say “we’re still not winning in Norman” is a downer.
I fully expect us to go in to Norman and compete well. That’s not to say I expect us to win, but I don’t expect us to be steamrolled.

I never said we'd get steamrolled.
I just said we’re not winning. And come on … you know how often I’ve been slammed as wearing rose-colored glasses on other sites? Allow me to very rarely be pessimistic about something. And it’s not even pessimism for that matter … I’m just not getting my hopes up, is all.
Didn't mean to imply you said we would get steamrolled, sorry.
But for a game that’s 6-1/2 weeks away, I think the pessimism can be delayed, even if it’s not replaced with optimism in the present.
I’m not worked up over this by any means, was just surprised to see it.

That's how Vegas makes all their money...
… people betting against streaks. Because it has to end sometime, right?

Bill, have you got to listen to Watch the Throne yet all the way?
Just wondering what your impressions of it are so far.
I'm about two-thirds of the way through it right now...
…very good. Not the most amazing rap album I’ve ever heard, but it’s weird and interesting in all the ways I hoped.
Isn't Travis Lewis the all everything middle linebacker that we would formation into
trying to cover Jerrell Jackson last year? Didn’t Jackson go off and catch 9 balls for 139 and a TD.
ku loves Missouri as every parasite has to have a host.
I approve of all the USMNT discussion in the links.
Great to see the local Sporting Kansas City get some momentum, too.
Every time I ask myself what A&M is thinking with all this SEC talk
I think of this

Lame SI reference to Van Hagar
I don’t know if this has been linked to yet:
Ranked #17 by SI.
It’s exciting that they put us at #17. But I just don’t like the Van Hagar reference. I love David Lee Van Halen (I saw them 2 years ago in LA), but I could never stand Hagar and they fact that he would never do Jump in concert because it was too David Lee’ish.
