A lot has been made in recent days about the flights fans tracked on Flight Aware between Columbia, Norman, and College Station. With all the conference realignment talk and discussion about who the Big 12 will add or what Big 12 schools may leave, it seemed like it would be fun to do some research on Flight Aware to see if I could piece together any 'conspiracies' based on where flights were leaving or coming from.
In doing so, I came up with an interesting scenario -- the Big 12's power brokers meeting with officials from New Mexico, Colorado State and Air Force about adding those three schools to go to 12 -- at a meeting in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday.
See the case below the fold.

This linked flight probably means nothing, but here were the flights in the last 7 days, with possible conspiracy:
August 31
Lubbock to Austin -- 6 hour stay (meeting with texas to discuss options from Mountain West?)
Austin to Lubbock -- overnight stay
September 1
Lubbock to Norman -- 20 minute stay (pick up someone from Oklahoma?)
Norman to Austin (Horsehoe Bay is near Austin) -- 8 minute stay (pick someone else up, maybe from Baylor?)
Austin to Lubbock -- overnight stay
September 2
Lubbock to Albuquerque -- 30 min stay (pick up someone from Univ of New Mexico)
Albuqerque to Denver -- 40 min stay (pick up someone from CSU and/or Air Force? -- Denver is halfway between Ft. Collins and Colorado Springs, after all)
Denver to Lubbock
Saturday, September 3
Meeting in Lubbock during Texas Tech game
September 4
Lubbock to Denver -- 90 min stay (drop of the guy from CSU/AF)
Denver to Albuquerque -- 30 min stay (drop off the guy from NM)
Albuquerquce to Lubbock -- overnight
September 5
Lubbock to Austin -- 30 min stay (drop off guy from Baylor/Texas?)
Austin to Norman -- 90 min stay (drop off guy from OU?)
Norman to Lubbock (Texas Tech guy is back home!)
So what's this mean? Big 12 adding Colorado State, Air Force, and New Mexico, perhaps?
This is fun!
:-)
