At 1st, Bress thought he had snagged her leg on a lineman or Mizzou’s turf. There was no initial pain, only one violent tug on his left leg. He reached down to touch his foot. He could not find his foot. He reached higher on the leg, and was overcome by a rush of nausea and dizziness. His groping fingers had found a hub of bone and tattered flesh. Pain and panic struck together. Brees fell down and screamed a guttural cry of terror.
