It is certainly pretty funny how, almost every single year, we attempt to talk ourselves into somebody else winning the Big 12 ... and by mid- to late-January, we've accepted that Kansas is the favorite. That's why I adopt the "never bet against a streak" approach -- I overthink things enough already; that cuts down a few of my overthinking opportunities.

I see how it is

kU thumps some team at AFH, they take out their frustrations on the next team they play at home… Mizzou.

I see a repeat of the K-State game Saturday.

Proud Meth Aggie since 2011.

by Mac6uffin on Jan 17, 2012 5:44 AM CST reply actions

I'm not trying to upsell anyone on Mizzou's chance to win at Baylor

But that team that took the floor against kU looked very beatable. I watched while the game was still competitive and if not for Perry Jones 3, none of their famed “height” looked eager to play in the paint – a lot of jump shots that weren’t falling.

All that could change as they look for a rebound game against Mizzou, but if PJ3 (wait – Baylor has 2 players with a “3” in their name, what’s going on here?) doesn’t come to play, maybe we can force them to adjust to our small ball lineup.

You either die a Tiger, or you live long enough to see yourself become a Jayhawk.

K-State looked very beatable too

teams fold @ AFH (including Mizzou after the Norm era). No one is as bad as they look losing there, and kU is not as good as they look there either. It’s a tremendous home court advantage.

Proud Meth Aggie since 2011.

by Mac6uffin on Jan 17, 2012 6:04 AM CST up reply actions

Just like the KSU team that played at AFH

and at OU looked pretty beatable. Fact is, playing a top 10 team on the road, especially in the big 12, does not turn out well. This also says nothing about how baylor and their length is basically the worst possible matchup possible for mizzou.

Annoying You Since 1986

by MUTIGERS86 on Jan 17, 2012 6:06 AM CST up reply actions

I won't deny Baylor' height/length is a match up nightmare for Mizzou

I’m simply saying that, from the one game I’ve been able to see Baylor play (albeit against kU @ AFH) they didn’t use their height/length advantage very well on offense.

On defense that same advantage was used pretty well from what I saw. A lot of deflections, tipped balls, rebounds, etc… went Baylor’s way because they were tall. But if you recall, Baylor went 4 minutes at the end of the first half without scoring a point.

Perhaps that was a product of the home court advantage, or PJ3 being hobbled, or kU having a good defensive match up, but I’m just trying to draw positives out of the game. I’m sure we’ll see an entirely different team @ Baylor.

You either die a Tiger, or you live long enough to see yourself become a Jayhawk.

Hey folks

I didn’t go through the game thread last night (spent the weekend at my in-laws unlocking the “baby shower” achievement and was too tired), so I don’t know if this has been mentioned. But I continue to like Bobby Knight as a colorguy. One big point was when Matt P fouled an Aggie in the second half, and Knight laid into him for two minutes, for not moving his feet. He explained why it was a foul, and why it shouldn’t be a foul. I could imagine that if ESPN had all the pull it really desired, he would have stopped the game, gotten the PA mic, pulled all the players over and would have taught for five minutes how to avoid that foul.

And then would have grabbed Cardo and demonstrated that he needs to make the inside step WHILE getting his butt down.

I have regular discussions about how much I enjoy Bob Knight as an announcer

He calls games as if he was still coaching which is FANtastic!

You either die a Tiger, or you live long enough to see yourself become a Jayhawk.

by Fullback U on Jan 17, 2012 7:51 AM CST up reply actions

he is smart

yet senile. belongs nowhere near calling a game. he and musberger went off on all sorts of tangents (including working in a honey badger reference!) and knight kept talking about players’ south end. disturbing. time for him to go out to pasture.

I thoroughly enjoyed the final few minutes of the UNC vs FSU game

Vitale was an emotionless zombie, UNC was getting pounded so hard. You could tell he just didn’t bring any enthusiasm for FSU or the chance for an upset with him. He had his hopes on a UNC blowout and towards the end of that game you’d think someone ran over his dog.

I disagree somewhat

once the game was in hand, him and Brent did go a bit Stadler and Wadsworth on us. But Knight still sees and acknowledges aspects of the game that need detailing to the viewers. He is also one that will point out a terrible call by the officials without hesitation. I can’t stand announcers that won’t do that.

I really don't like that excuse

Being 18 doesn’t give you the right to jerk people around. He’s committed to three schools already and doesn’t seem satisfied with any of them. Why not take the DGB approach and don’t commit until you’ve made your final decision?

Because not all kids are equal nor mature as DGB?

And the QB position is different than the WR position, there is only one starting QB, there can be several starting WRs. I dunno, I just as soon give the kid a fair shake. I understand both sides of the “argument” but since I don’t know him personally I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt?

I was just making an observation to your statement, and god forbid he actually bases is descision on even hundreds of twitter um….tweets.

I think the kid got all caught up in the excitement of LSU's pending perfect season

and then got to see the mess of it all unraveling and their inability to amass 100 offensive yards and cross the 50 and probably started second guessing that decision. I am very glad he didn’t commit to us a long time ago, because we could have very likely missed out on Mauk and then see Kiel decommit anyways.

So apparently its Dave Christensen's birthday today.
Christensen was formerly the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator for the University of Missouri. He served under Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel for 16 years, including the last eleven as his offensive coordinator. He is currently the head coach for the University of Wyoming.

This is a week old story, but I hadn’t really been paying attention to realignment lately. According to this, WVU will not have started to resolve the lawsuit with Big East until after conference schedules would normally have been released. If that’s the case, Big 12 schools will only have 8 opponents for football, and like Mizzou & A&M, may have to scramble for a replacement non-con game. I know kU is firm in not scheduling Mizzou after this year. Do you think there’d be any interest from kSU or ISU?

Screw K-State

Wouldn’t mind playing ISU. Kansas will refuse out of spite. I wonder if Texas would play us if we allowed the game on LHN?

i believe that would result in a net -100000000 recruiting for both teams in KC
