Mizzou Football Links
So yesterday, I mentioned that we've reached the silly season of recruiting. In all the scenarios I listed (commits, re-de-commits, etc.), I didn't mention "Player publicly wishing he could transfer to a rival school." That's a new one for me.
That's Keeston Terry, former starting Kansas safety. Indications are that Mizzou doesn't want him (if you followed his recruiting, you know that he spurned Mizzou on a couple of different occasions; this probably has "You missed your chance" written all over it), but I guess I should thank Twitter for once again keeping things fresh.
Meanwhile, the conventional wisdom seems to have swung in favor of Mizzou when it comes to DGB's recruitment. With 12 more days until Signing Day, there is time for a couple of more (rumored) plot twists, but now it appears people outside of Missouri actually think Mizzou has a shot. Must have been the Pinkel-Copter.

I can't be the only one who is uncomfortable with any football pundits
believing DGB’s favor has swung to Mizzou.
You either die a Tiger, or you live long enough to see yourself become a Jayhawk.
If the copter treatment is working with DGB
then Pinkel should drop in to say “Hey” EVERY SINGLE DAY UNTIL DGB IS ON CAMPUS, ENROLLED AND ATTENDING PRACTICE. And I’m pretty sure it’s OK to enjoy jumbo wine when you aren’t the pilot.
I think Mizzou should also have Coach Steck get his copter pilot’s license. Steck would look badass copterin’ around, and recruits would have no choice but to choose Mizzou after looking into the eyes of Cap’n Steck. GET IN DEE CHOPPER!
Hell, get copters for the whole coaching staff. Has to be more time-efficient than any other type of travel, especially when you can drop in on a recruit’s home field. Each copter should include a golden girl, Mizzou alum currently in NFL and a mini bar.
This has so many possibilities.
As long as we don't move up to the HindenPinkel

Most of the Haith article was a repeat of post-hire articles,
but this part was pretty awesome.
Knight told him MU was the best-coached team he’d seen this season, and interrupted when Haith talked about having great players willing to work hard.
"Don’t give me that (stuff)," Knight said. "I’m a coach. I’m not the media. I know what a coach does. I watched your team. You coached your team."
Haith then talked about his coaching mentors and his time as an assistant at Texas. Knight interrupted again.
"Rick Barnes isn’t an offensive coach, so don’t tell me that," he said.
Well done, coach.

Questionable coaching hires, players leaving like rats fleeing a sinking ship, APR woes and Kansas simply being Kansas has put a smile on my face more than once the last several weeks. I can certainly think of worse ways to raise my spirits while being between jobs.

by McZou on Jan 20, 2012 11:53 AM CST via mobile reply actions
But the publicity of it all might rub Franklin/Berkstresser the wrong way
I know they would want DGB more than anything, but trying to tie the two together might not set well. Just a thought.
I agree, as it might not set well with DGB also, if Maty had to wait his turn too.
But then again, that would mean the best would be out there playing and one would think DGB would want to play with the best qb possible. If DGB sticks around long enough, he may get to play with Maty to realize this “best highschool qb with the best highschool combo”. I still give kudos for Maty trying.
by McZou on Jan 20, 2012 12:13 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
Besides, if Tanklin/B'stresser let the publicity get to them, it would be surprising
Franklin found out once already by proving it on the field. B’stresser proved it by sticking it out in a tough qb fight and is pro Mizzou team player enough to play back up. If it takes Maty to bring either of Tanklin or B’stresser, a target like that could help make any of them better.
by McZou on Jan 20, 2012 12:27 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
I agree with this
And also, if they coaches thought this might be a negative, theres no way they’d let a possible recruit ruin the QB chemistry they already have.
