"Here comes this hulking young man walking across the field," said Mike Kelly, who does radio play-by-play for Missouri football games. "You could just see heads start to turn as he walked — ‘Who is this guy?’" [...]
Kelly took one look at Smith’s technique and christened him Godzilla. Some of the 49ers call him Cowboy now — Smith is built like a bull and about as down to earth, too — but Godzilla still seems more apt. There is little artistry about Smith’s game, none of the swim moves and spins that might free smaller players. That is not necessary for Smith.
"Just brute force," Kelly said. "Like all of these skyscrapers, just knocking them down."
The New York Times loves them some Justin Smith, though I'm disappointed there was no mention of his play in the 1998 Insight.com Bowl, when West Virginia attempted the Statue Of Liberty play, and a confused Godzilla just shoved Marc Bulger into Amos Zeroueue, knocking them both down for a loss.

I had to line up at tackle against him in high school and he just destroyed me

Like it.
No cowbell, but Bruce Dickinson would still be proud.

Also love the A & M play (in the Randy Potter game, IIRC)
where he shut down both the QB and the pitch man on the option. Unbelievable.
Also
Aren’t we required to call him Amos Zero-yards when we refer to that game?

Fun with box scores
Zeroue actually had 50 yards on 22 carries, which of course was far below his average.
Bulger threw for 429 yards! I remember their furious come back. Weirdly, what really won the game for us was our special teams, despite the fact that (1) we had a barefoot punt blocked, and (2) the clinching FG was kicked by a David Long, who I honestly have no memory of whatsoever.
Also, will this go down in Mizzou history as the last team ever to feature two starting white outside WRs (Layman and Dausman)?
Brian Long
It was actually Brian Long, and he transferred after his freshman year to Missouri State and kicked there the rest of the time. He was a soccer player before, he wasn’t really that interested in it. Just did it for fun.
When the heck did Ray Lewis become younger than me?

I might not be thinking staight this afternoon after a long day
but wouldn’t Ray Lewis have always been younger than you?

Mizzou's had so many good DE's in the last 10-15 years
Justin Smith, Aldon Smith, Brian Smith, Strykar Sulak, Brad Madison, Antwaun Bynum, Xzavie Jackson – and Ziggy Hood if you count guys who went DE as a pro.
Justin Smith was an absolute beast though – a game-changer.
I am pretty sure Smith had a similar play in his last game.
He basically bull rushed the LT into the QB for a sack. It was awesome.

I can't find a video of Justin Smith stripping the ball from Jeremy Maclin
even though I’ve seen it referenced in umpteen articles. The NFL is really ridiculous about it’s videos. Ticks me off.
