Mizzou Rugby

Not me, the team!

As you may know, the University of Missouri has a club rugby team, run and coached by students athletes. We recently made the jump to Division I competition, which means that we play in the same league as teams you may have seen on NBC when they showcase collegiate rugby. We will now be playing regional teams such as kU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, KState, Nebraska and others.

With this fanpost, I just want to extend an invitation for everyone to come out and support us for the home games this spring. Our team's website is missourirugby.com. Our spring schedule and directions to the home pitch, which is on campus, are on there as well.(Gold means home game) We usually have a good showing but the more people cheering the better! I know all of you would love the game, plus the team and myself would greatly appreciate the support!

Also, as part of our team's fundraising, we are selling t-shirts this year. If you are interested, email me at maswxc@mail.missouri.edu, and we can set it up. (I hope this doesn't get me in trouble with Bill C...)

So please, take a look at the schedule, shoot me any questions, and come out and cheer us on!

Thanks you,

MR

Ha thanks

Though I’m not sure what deserves congratulations.. I just hope a few people can come out and spread the word, not just about MU Rugby, but the sport as a whole

a jump to d-1 doesn't merit congratulations?

you, sir, have some very high standards.

Haha I guess that is true, but...

Having played no part in helping to earn that, I cannot take credit for it. But I do appreciate the sentiment, it will be a ton of fun competing at this level this year and the next two.

If this helps get anyone to come out, we play kU and Nebraska on the same Saturday, March 10th… So come on out and let the hate flow

are you saying you aren't on the team?

i honestly thought you were on the team.

Ha I am!

I’m the VP..
But I basically sat on the bench last year, my freshman year, and didn’t contribute at all to helping us be in a position to make the jump. To me it’s kinda like bragging about a national championship if you were third string or something…

taking some credit

isn’t the same as bragging. every part of a team is crucial to its ultimate success. best of luck to the mizzou rugby tigers!

I saw that on the website actually

I’m talking it over with my fiancee, it’s tough for her to get more than one day off in a row.. and I don’t know that she would be very approving of me spending a weekend in Vegas by myself haha

Haha ya that might be tough

I will unfortunately not be going on that trip either, but that weekend is HUGE for collegiate rugby, that’s when NBC airs the a ton of games, and the Six Nations Tournament starts about that time too. It would definitely be worth the trip, both to see MU and to see one of the best rugby events in the US

totally agree

and having played before, I love watching rugby. There’s also some pretty good hotel deals both through the tournament and otherwise.. I’ll just have to wait and see!

On February 2 is says you play the KC Midnight 7's

but it doesn’t list a time. Am I reading it wrong. Let me know what time and where it is and I might be able to swing by for that one.

It is at the Kansas City Soccer Dome

I’m not sure of the time. 7’s is quite a bit different that 15’s. 7’s is 7v7, with two 7 minute halves instead of 40 min halves. But I will find out the time, I’m guessing its a late night tournament haha

Send out a remind for the March 10 matches. Would love to go.

Haven’t been to a match since I got out of school. Played for the club team until GT broke my collarbone in a b-side game.
